I've got about as much to go on as you (I've only seen episodes 1-5 of this season). From what I read from the blog, the first three modules were quite technology heavy, but subsequent ones should be a bit more 'normal', pretty much the way season 5 didn't feature demons all of the time (but still did occasionally).
I do agree it's a good choice for the professor, though.

Shifty |

Yep it seems right up his alley and I have to work out how I might manage a bit of jiggery pokery and get away with it... I know a really metagamey way to do it, I might have to go down that path. Otherwise retrain it and fitch the extra traits (but ZOMG! He wont have his heavy repeat Xbow!)

DM Kludde |

My life's weather station has predicted chaos for the next two days, so posting may again be erratic (and full of sleep-deprived mistakes). Apologies for the inconvenience.

DM Kludde |

Do any of you have interest in playing in a We Be Goblins run? If so, I have one open slot in this game. Feel free to dot in if you're interested.

![]() |

Generally for tier-1 scenarios you can do that, but the instructions at the start of WBG is pretty specific about just play once. Unless that has been officially updated somewhere?

![]() |

BTW, for enhanced diplomacy I've got it included in the skill baseline in the sheet. Where we are doing multiple checks in an encounter, and it doesn't seem appropriate to be able to renew it, I'm dropping the bonus by two for subsequent rolls.

![]() |

I'm just dropping a line to warn you that my posting will be shaky at best these next few days. My 7-month old son is in the hospital, so I'll be mostly AFK. Feel free to bot me if I don't respond within 24 hours, if that's okay for you.

Seoni - Tech siege |

question about grapple
Using scrolls or spells while grappled require a concentration check, yes?
Using potions or wands while grappled doesn't?
Another question that I haven't found an answer to is with the change of factions does your fame transfer to the new faction or does it start accumulating over again? This is mainly to know what the buying limit based on fame is for a character.

![]() |

Regarding fame: It's stays the same, you don't lose any and you can use your prestige points and acquire new faction boons and vanities. You don't lose old faction vanities if you had those.

Seoni - Tech siege |

But do you have X amount of fame with the old faction and N amount with the new one?
For example I have a PC who of the Osirion faction with 10 Fame points and now has earned 2 fame with Scarab Sage.
So he has 10 fame with Osirion which doesn't exist any longer and 2 fame with Scarab Sage?
I haven't found anywhere that states fame get's transferred to the new faction.

DM Kludde |

I understood it to be 'new faction takes all', so 12 fame for your new faction. Fame is mainly there for the 'item buying curve', where a certain amount of fame lets you buy more expensive items.

DM Kludde |

Yes, but I had to look it up :). In this case, the DC is 10+ CMB (which is 16) + spell level. That's pretty tough...

![]() |

You just got a reroll with a +18 bonus Seoni! Go get them, girl!

DM Kludde |

You're starting to dish out some serious damage in 6-03. Can I have day job rolls and PFS numbers?

![]() |

PFS #76446-1
Grand Lodge
Day Job (Profession Librarian): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
It's great to see that we're finishing, because we'll be able to start Bacon (err... Beacon!) Below faster. Moreover, I have a chance to play Kynrac on Friday, so I'm glad we'll be finished by then.
Thanks for the game by the way!

Lanarial |

PFS#: 83583
Playing a pre-gen, so no Day job.
Thanks for a great game - first time I've seen anyone actually die in PFS - glad to know it can really happen =)
Also good to know you can still be brought back!!

DM Kludde |

Lanarial, what number should I record to apply the chronicle to?

Lanarial |

I thought I could apply the chronicle to whichever character I wanted...Can I change it later?
PFS#: 83583-2
This is for my two-handed fighter, Grimaldus. Of all my characters, he's the one I want tech gear for the most, so use him =)

Clearly you haven't played with Bold Strider or me as GMs. Just kidding, of course! ;-)
More seriously, dying happens now and then, but at lower level the game is more forgiving. This scenario was a good example of how a tier 8-9 scenario is less forgiving and how dying can happen unexpectedly as well.

DM Kludde |

There's a lot more 'save or die' going on, though the 'during combat' descriptor blocks of the encounters often prevent the dm (to an extent) from using those spells. That sorcerer in the first encounter actually had four phantasmal killers lined up.
On a side note, I have hated that spell since 2nd ed. It got toned down a bit in pathfinder (requiring two saves, not one), but still I think it is a nasty stinker.

Lanarial |

It's obviously designed for PCs - but what's good for the goose...
I've been role-playing for almost as long as it's been around. I think actual danger and the chance of death is an integral part of a good game and forming a good bond with your character. Which is why I don't pull too many punches in games, either!
So fir the next hi-lvl game, I'm open to either keeping the rogue pre-gen or playing another class. Depends on what the party needs!

![]() |

For the next high-level game I'll play my blaster sorcerer, not a healer. So if someone played Kyra, it would be nice (added to the fact that she's one of the best pregens).

DM Kludde |

You guys did notice that the pregens were updated, right? You can now also choose ACG pregens :D

![]() |

Oh right! Excellent point, DMK.

Lirianne - pregenerated |

I'll take the reduced gold and apply to Zlata #125832-2

Seoni - Tech siege |

No day job for Seoni. Is there any limitation to applying the certificate to a PC that was in play while this game was in play?
Also as I understand it, these can't be applied until the PC reaches 7th level?

Rhanloi Ehlyss |

So gang, for 6-04, do you want me to keep the rogue pre-gen, or does the group need something else? Maybe I can try the Investigator - still has rogue skills plus adds some cool alchemist stuff?

![]() |

This is the character I'll play for 6-04.
Feel free to ply the investigator, it looks like a fun class to play. It would be best if we had all the domains covered, since it's a 7-11 scenario, and thus much less forgiving than a 5-9.
Arcane: Shandor (sorcerer blaster)
Divine: ???
Frontline: ???
Skill: Rhanloi (investigator)

DM Kludde |

...and the link to Beacon Below is up.

Amiri, Barbarian |

If anyone has any thoughts on whether I should stick with Amiri or switch to Crowe (bloodrager) or Oloch (warpriest), I'd like to hear 'em. All of them are basically frontliners, though the last two have a touch of arcane and divine, respectively.

![]() |

Not sure how a bloodrager would duplicate a sorcerer, as they are both very different characters. The bloodrager has only a few spells (think paladin or ranger), and then some magical abilities, but is otherwise very close to a barbarian. But I see your point, we would benefit more from the warpriest's divine abilities.
I'd say play whichever you want, though the Warpriest would give us a bit of a more balanced group (something that shouldn't be underestimated in tier 7-11, especially in later seasons).

Amiri, Barbarian |

I will go ahead and play Oloch as a frontliner (been wanting to try warpriest anyway), leaving Karrion to play Kyra, if he wants (though I don't know if that would be too much divine and not enough ranged?).

![]() |

Hmmm with Percy (Witch - skill monkey and party face) and Grim (Barbarian crush and maimer) on their last (I presume) combats, I have more to choose from than Taka...
Are we having him along for heals etc?
So:
Percy - Arcane, some Healing, Skills to burn.
Grim - Frontline.
Takahiro - Palacleric - secondary melee and healer

DM Kludde |

I can hold off starting 6-04 for a bit to complete 6-02, making Percy available. The combat for 6-02 looks like it might take a couple of rounds, though, with all the robots.
