Kobold, metalic dragons, and dragons growth's speed

I have an idea for a module, but I need some info.

There is a red dragon, adored by a tribe of kobolds, who think she is a god of fire and vengeance.

Recently her evil plans have been twisted by a silver dragon.

After discovering the silver's lair, the red dragon attacks it. There is an apocalyptical battle, then a wood's fire, and next... Nobody knows, becouse there is no corpses!

The kobolds explore the area, but their god isn't there but there is something even better: a dragon's egg! They think is from the red, but really is from the silver.

Trying to appease their new god, the kobolds start kidnapping and sacrificing local peasants.

The players will find the egg and fled with it. Then the question:
- A just-born silver dragon speaks?
- Can he fly? Shot his breath?
- Does he know the first PC he sees is not his momma?

The BEstiaries give some info about dragons, but I don't think it reflects a just born flying lizard.

Any help?

Also: how do kobolds feel about metalic dragons?

Yes, a just-born silver dragon (a wyrmling) should be capable of speech. They're born with 14 INT or close to it, which is more intelligent than the majority of humans, and come out of the egg more capable than a party of player characters with a level or two under their belt.

Yes, it can fly and use its breath weapon.

Yes, presumably it will know the first PC it sees is not its mother.

Kobolds of Golarion mentions that gold-scaled kobolds exist, which might indicate metallic ancestry (doesn't change their alignment, though). It notes that one of the creation myths of kobolds is that Apsu created them, as well. In addition, while kobolds do not appear to have any metallic scales in general (though there is the gold-scale possibility, as noted), there is a feat called "Redeemed Kobold" that allows it to alter its scale colour (by default chromatic only) to a good-aligned metallic dragon colour.

Presumably a kobold would generally prefer to side with a chromatic. However, a silver dragon might be able to collect some kobold followers if it was of a mind. It would require some work, though, as kobolds are Evil by default.

Thanks for the help.

Is there any book about little dragons?

Dragons Revisited is your best bet. There's also a book about various Dragons and their hoards, including a clutch of Brass Babies this dude is trying to sell.

The Fluff parts of the 3.5 Ed Draconomicon book would also help iirc.

Aye, they would.

As I recall all dragons are born knowing and speaking Draconic instinctively. Something about racial memory. I also recall the book saying wyrmlings were very instinctive there first few weeks of life, behaving like cunning lizards while they processed everything. Something I ado in my games is have dragons close to hatching soak up information around them- they are listening weeks before they hatch and learning before even out of the egg.

Amusingly, the "intro" adventure that came with the Counsel of Wyrms boxed set for 2E started the PCs as hatchling dragons who are just hatching as the nursery is being raided by ogres.

IIRC, your penalty for having hatched directly into combat with ogres was a -2 to your rolls, that ended after 10 minutes or so.

IIRC, you repelled the initial assault on the nursery and then hunt down the ogres to recover the eggs they managed to flee with, ultimately rescuing your slightly younger clutchmates and bringing them back home.

Making the PCs dragonlings heroes before they're even a day old.

Part of the point of the adventure was to drive home that you were born bad-ass.

The 3.5 Draconomicon had rules for hatchling wyrmlings but I don't remember the exact numbers.

Ok, thanks. I will look that books.
