Getting Lucky

Advice

So, I've got a Halfling rogue who worships Chaldira, and I want to focus on luck effects. (Though not as a cleric with the actual Luck domain.)

What rogue talents, feats, items, etc., would support the luck-oriented flavor of such a character? Assume an otherwise standard party makeup for teammates (frontliner, ranged attacker, caster, healer), so this rogue will be doing the standard sneak-attacking and trapfinding job. I'm looking for flavor/RP suggestions, not build advice.

Be an Archeologist (Bard archetype).

Vastly superior to rogue. Only thing you lose is sneak attack. Gain a bunch of stuff including a great luck bonus.

Check the archetype out.

Don't forget the fate's favored trait! :)

Edit: And I first thought this thread was going somewhere else...

So, assuming I stay with a Halfling Rogue... any suggestions?

If you were human, I would suggest the luck feats in the Advanced Race Guide:

Human Feats

Humans have access to the following feats.

Bestow Luck

You are extremely lucky and sometimes your allies are as well.

Prerequisites: Defiant Luck, Inexplicable Luck, human.

Benefit: You gain an extra use per day of your Defiant Luck ability. You can also use your Inexplicable Luck ability to grant an ally that can see and hear its benefit as an immediate action.

Defiant Luck

You can sometimes defiantly shrug off spells and attacks that would kill a lesser creature.

Prerequisite: Human.

Benefit: Once per day, after you roll a natural 1 on a saving throw or a critical hit is confirmed against you, you can either reroll that saving throw, or force the creature that confirmed the critical hit against you to reroll the critical confirmation roll. This does not stack with other effects that allow you to reroll a saving throw or an attack roll. You may only make one reroll.

Special: If you are using the optional hero point system, you can also spend 1 hero point when a critical hit is confirmed against you to have the opponent reroll the critical hit confirmation roll.

Fast Learner

You progress gain extra versatility.

Prerequisites: Int 13, human.

Benefit: When you gain a level in a favored class, you gain both +1 hit point and +1 skill rank instead of choosing either one or the other benefit or you can choose an alternate class reward.

Inexplicable Luck

Others are often dumfounded by your luck.

Prerequisites: Defiant Luck, human.

Benefit: Once per day, as a free action before a roll is made, you gain a +8 bonus on any single d20 roll. You can also use this ability after the roll is made, but if you do, this bonus is reduced to +4.

Surge of Success

Your success drives your further actions.

Prerequisite: Human.

Benefit: When you confirm a critical hit or roll a natural 20 on a saving throw, you gain a +2 circumstance bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, skill check, or ability check of your choice before the end of your next turn. You must choose to use this bonus before you make the attack roll, saving throw, skill check, or ability check.

Fate's favoured if you can.

Jingasa of The Fortunate Soldier. Gives a +1 luck bonus to AC and negates a crit for 5k GP. With fate's favoured, it makes it a +2 luck bonus. Jingasas are in style this year for the stylish archeologist.

Oh forgot, if you've a high UMD, I think divine favour gives a luck bonus.

In the famous words of Admiral Ackbar "Its a TRAP!"

Assuming you plan to follow such a foolish path, to focus on luck only (not saying these are good) I would look at the following:

Rogue Talents:
Last Ditch Effort
Honest lies (more the mischief part of her portfolio)
Defensive roll

Feats (many of the "luck" feats are human only, and some of these rely on the hero point system):
Luck of heroes
Lucky halfling
Lucky strike
Heroes fortune
Blood of heroes
Adaptive fortune
Fortunate one

Trait:
Fates favored
The one.that lets you reroll a failed save once a day

For items, check out the halfling specific gear, may find something in there, can't think of anything off hand for gear other than a luckstone and the jingasa of the fortunate soldier.

Unless you really just like saying the word "rogue", Archeologist is VASTLY superior and has almost all of the same features.

Heck, it's outfitted the same, fights in a similar fashion, is sneaky, etc...

Just no sneak attack.
