I understand the current term is vulgar and won't be used officially, so let's try to come up with something better. This is not the name of the "points" you buy with real-world money to then spend in the Cash Shop. Those are already named Skymetal Bits. Rather, this is the name of the item you can buy in the Cash Shop that grants a specific time period of XP Gain, that can also be traded in-game.
Here are my two submissions. I'd love to hear everyone else's, too.
XPAC is easy to say and could stand for XP Accrual Certificate. It also brings to mind - in me, anyway - a "pack of XP". Although some might misinterpret it as Professor Xavier's Political Action Committee...
Goblin Teeth might capture a bit of the vibe from the current term, but much less vulgarly.

My only issue with XPAC is the pre-existing association with the old gaming term Expansion Pack.
I concur Goblin Teeth would be less vulgar, and I would actually use that term (as I currently refuse to use the current one) though I must say I do not see any linkage between name and functionality. Perhaps there does not need to be.
Tome of Knowledge would be great, as it represents that you are able to learn something, and the gradual XP accrual is just how long it takes to read the book. ;)

// Bond of Extra Experience (BoXX)
// Script of Understanding (SoU)
// Script of Experience (SoX)
// Writ of Pathfinding (WoPF)
// Writ of New Knowledge (WoNK)
// Pathfinder's Deed (PFD)
Goblin's teeth does have a bounty hunter-themed ring to it.
Tome of Knowledge might actually become a real item or reference at some stage, so there may be some possible ambiguity there.
I like SoX (rhymes with ToX) as an acronym, but Pathfinder's Deed is probably more realistic (and may suffer from the idea that 'it may become ambiguous in the future' once gunslingers or deeds are introduced).

The problem with "Goblin <part of anatomy>" is it doesn't stand on its own as any kind of explanation for what it does. PLEX is a Pilot's License EXtension. It makes sense for what it actually does. Your character in EVE is a spaceship pilot, and PLEX let you fly your ships longer.
Or maybe it's not a problem. Maybe it's evolution. Then again we could go with TANRGT. These Are Not Real Goblins' Teeth.

Kobold Catgirl |

The problem with that logic is it assumes you need an explanation, when really, a system for buying hours to gain Experience Points should be a largely meta affair with only tangential in-game clarification. Maybe Goblin Teeth are tokens to show you're sufficiently badass/racist to receive training. Maybe they have a faintly magical effect that makes it easier to learn. Maybe Pharasma's blessing has had the unpleasant side effect of causing your growth to stagnate, but a little nudge from the children of Lamashtu goes a long way. Or maybe...
Long ago, these shimmering spheres of light were used throughout the River Kingdoms as instruments of hope, cheer, and keeping papers from flying away. Then everything changed when the goblin tribes attacked. In the ensuing carnage, every last shiny orb was stolen away. For years, the Goblin Balls were used by the goblins to aid in the popular sport of throwing things at birds, or longshanks, or Mokmak, the goblin who's blind in one eye. Recently, however, folk of the River Kingdoms have been making a push to recover them...

I think Pathfinder XP Progression - PXP might be good since it is easier to understand.
Or Pathfinder Experience Progression - PXP or PEP PEP might be easier to say instead of PXP.
I like both of those. "I've got to get some PEP" actually carries some interesting and relevant connotations, too :)

I'm pretty sure people will understand what "Goblin Teeth" would mean if that is what it was. Remember, this is the in-game equivalent to skill training and stuff. Essentially: What are we paying the trainers in order for them to teach us?
Goblin Teeth is aight, but something like Abyssal Shards would be better. Except then you come up with the in-game RP issue of alignment. A alignment universal, made up, RP based, item of geographic import should be the name
Thus, in all seriousness: Pharasmic Essence
The characters are marked by Pharasma via some unknown process and some unknown reason (for now). This is true regardless of alignment, reputation, wealth, race, creed, ethnic group, and love of my little pony or not. Thus, Pharasma is universal, RP fitting, important to the land (i mean that is where WE, the marked of Pharasma, are), and it is made up (to my knowledge).
This, or some variation would be best. Basically you are giving the trainers little pieces of the energy/essence from the mark (possibly released whenever someone in the world dies?) This allows those trainers to extend their lives a little (reason they would want it, as well as why it is so valuable, no?).
Boom.

Obfuscating your prime money maker from the people you want to make money from is a dumb idea.
Agreed. I do think that abbreviations are sort of anachronistic, though, even the witty "ToRK".
Barracks Pass? Academy Pass? Training Tuition? Scholarship Chit? Dungeon Oysters - wait, that's just a euphemism.

So you're giving them little pieces of yourself? Why am I flashing back to this moment?

This. I'm not a huge fan of abbreviations, honestly--feels like more of a Sci-Fi thing.

Why do you feel it necessary to test the IQ of players? Is this supposed to be an "elite" game where only the smartest are allowed to play?

I think the thing to explain might be why these characters could not learn new skills without special license. The idea that our immortality could come with a karmic learning block that must be removed through magical means is more than sensible to me. More so than requiring a document of permission to learn.

... what purpose is there to change it, and what would be gained by changing it?
We should change it because it's vulgar, and it won't be the official name.
If we Crowdforge a good name now, then we not only gain a good name, we also feel more connected to it because we were part of making it.

Goblin Balls
This name was organic, and has already been crowd forged. It is already part of the PFO lexicon, so what purpose is there to change it, and what would be gained by changing it?
Maybe, when it's time for the less than 18-year old players to hit up their parents for funding, it might be better if they don't have to say - "Hey Mom, can you buy me some goblin balls?" Or perhaps we might consider some fraction of the player base, whether female, religious, uptight, sensitive, or whatever, might prefer a different name. Or it might just not fit with GW's vision (and Paizo's licence) - and yes, they get the deciding vote.

vul·gar adjective \ˈvəl-gər\
not having or showing good manners, good taste, or politeness
relating to the common people or the speech of common people
Actually, whatever we use is technically going to be vulgar ;)
that said, yeah. Goblin Balls is officially out, I don't see why GW even needs to have to say that.

1. An ambiguous name is not the same thing as an inherently vulgar one. As I pointed out, there are plenty of ways to interpret "goblin balls". There is a sport in Runescape (ugh, you're making me reference Runescape) called "Gnomeball". Can jokes be made about that? Yes, and they have. Does that make it an inherently vulgar minigame? Not...[i]completely[i]...
2. I prefer the word "crude". ^-^
3 (EDIT). This thread just comes off as a tad aggressive towards the terminology, and people have gotten attached to "Goblin Balls" by now. I think it's more productive to stay away from the subject of the term's merits and just stick to the facts: The name isn't gonna happen.

PFO will have slavery, but "Goblin Balls" is vulgar...... Ooh Kaaay!
Yeah it's vulgar, like PG-13 can not say "Goblin Balls", but it can say Sh#t, A$$h@le, etc.
No ESRB for PFO either, if only sold digitally. So no issue with that.
I say we and GW shows that we have a pair, and call them Goblin Balls.

![]() |

you forgot the / nub. that said, decent enough point. But I still feel that we can rule goblin balls out. The intent was there when we made it, let us be honest, and whatever the case GW has made it clear, especially in the case of Ryan of having little to absolutely no patience for ambiguous names, and will make a point of changing them to more appropriate alternatives.

![]() |

Bludd you also have a point, but I will point out that using slaves is a real life problem, "Jim Poopypants" is not. Further, the use of slaves automatically bestows the "Heinous" flag, whereas the name does not, so automatically there is negative associations with slavery, which GW can control 100%, as apposed to names.

Kobold Catgirl |

Or Goblinworks can be respectful and inclusive and use a different term that doesn't cause physical discomfort in people unnecessarily.
Allow me to respond to this in a PG-13 manner, to ensure this argument stays fully mature.
