Given the wording of the "Extra Gnome Magic" feat from Gnomes of Golarion, will the feat allow a gnome with alternate racial spell-like abilities the option to cast all of their available spell-like abilities multiple times a day (including the 1st level spell)?

Specifically, does a gnome with the Pyromaniac racial and this feat now have the opportunity to cast "Produce Flame" multiple times a day?

That's a very good question, as the feat itself calls out 0-level spells, and Produce Flame is a 1st... I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to that..

To quote the relevant texts:

Pyromaniac:
Pyromaniac Gnomes with this racial trait are treated as one level higher when casting spells with the fire descriptor, using granted powers of the Fire domain, using the bloodline powers of the fire elemental bloodline or the revelations of the oracle's flame mystery, and determining the damage of alchemist bombs that deal fire damage (this ability does not give gnomes early access to level-based powers; it only affects the powers they could use without this ability). Gnomes with Charisma scores of 11 or higher also gain the following spell-like abilities: 1/day—dancing lights, flare, prestidigitation, produce flame. The caster level for these effects is equal to the gnome's level; the DCs are Charisma-based. This racial trait replaces gnome magic and illusion resistance.

Extra Gnome Magic:
You gain an additional three uses per day of your gnome spell-like abilities (dancing lights, ghost sound, prestidigitation). You can use these in any combination; for example, you can use dancing lights four times in one day (taking all three additional uses for the same spell), or you can cast ghost sound twice, prestidigitation twice, speak with animals twice, and dancing lights once. If you have a feat, trait, or other ability that changes your racial 0-level spell-like abilities to other 0-level spells, this feat applies to them instead.

Now, to answer the question: I'd say it would not work for Produce Fire.

They tend to try and keep word count to a minimum. If they intended it to work with every racial SLA they would have simply left out the last sentence entirely.

So the feat would increase the usage of Flare, Dancing Lights, and Prestidigitation, but not Produce Fire.

The speak with animals language is pretty off-putting, though. The example implies that the feat was intended to apply to speak with animals as well.

Hrm.

I didn't notice that at first, blahpers. That does throw a bit of a wrench in what would be an otherwise clear pairing...

It is odd that the beginning of the feat listing the spells it applies to only lists the 0-level spells, while the example in the middle includes the SWA. Then 0-level spells are mentioned again at the end.

Marking as FAQ in that case.

Yeah,to me it seemed like whoever wrote the feat thought all the spells where 0 level. That's how it reads to me, so I allow Extra Gnome Magic to work with Pyromaniac. RAW though is a paradox that'd blow up a robot's robo-brain! ;)

First off, thanks to all for the feedback. Hope more will come through in order to keep helping us work this issue.

Graystone, I'm inclined to agree with you. It certainly seems like that is the intent. Anyone else agree?

Liberty's Edge

I think the intent is for 0 level SLAs and the writer made a slip up in adding SWA to that list. Stating 0 level spells twice is very clear, slipping in the name of a single spell not in that range is the aberration there, not the standard.

Hmmm. so was this ever answered? Oddly enough, the Naturally Gifted trait easily does work with all the SLA's (extra 1/day) but the Extra Gnome Magic feat (3/day) is ambiguous?

Scarab Sages

FAQ'd. It seems clear it should work on 1st level SLAs based on the Speak With Animals example.
