Recruitment still has not officially started, and won't start until I'm sufficiently prepared to run the game.

I originally started this as an interest check, with the plan of running the game as soon as I got my copy. But when I actually got it I realized that I had drastically underestimated the amount of work I was going to need to put into it. So I've been using this thread to let the people who had expressed interest, and decided to stick around and wait, know that I'm still working on it by making occasional status updates. Because otherwise I'd feel bad for getting people's hopes up about the game and having nothing to show for it 3 months later.

I regret to inform all who have expressed interest that, until further notice, I am canceling my plans to run Rappan Athuk. I haven't had the time to draw up the maps in an acceptable manner, and I can say, with a strong amount of certainty, that this summer will not be any better in that regard for various reasons that I won't go into here. I will continue to work on the maps, however, and if and when I get them finished I will send a PM to anyone who previously expressed interest to let them know that I'll be running RA at that time.

I'm really sorry for getting anyone's hopes up, but I did have all intention of running the game when I first made this thread. If I didn't, I wouldn't have shelled out $100 on RA itself and then another $100 on Campaign Cartographer/Dungeon Designer. This was no small investment on my part, and until I actually get the game running it will feel like one that was largely wasted.

Don't be discouraged Unruly, your Rappan Athuk hardcover will be with you for life, waiting for the day you are ready to unleash it on your victims/players.

Thanks for the update Unruly, I feel for you on the time issue. I hope one day you're able to get this campaign rolling.

Grimmy is absolutely right though, these sorts of problems don't last forever and you'll always have the book for when you are ready!

Hey guys, Unruly said it was cool for me to post this here.

I'm running some FGG games modules leading into Rappan Athuk myself and it looks like I'm going to need a couple of players around July when we start getting closer to hitting Rappan Athuk proper.

I do use less crunch/splat stuff then Unruly was using, I would call my game "core plus" so you may not be able to migrate the build you were planning straight over, but hey it's a chance to take on Rappan Athuk. Anyway, check it out.
