Who uses the Obsidian Portal website to manage their games? And what do you think about the relaunch of their website?

Right now, I am not very happy with it at all.

I used to use it, but I stopped using it the LAST time they revamped the website. I started up my own wordpress blog at that time and use that now as an information depot for my players.

I just recently moved there from the previous forum I used. Its meh, but the wiki resource is good. You can adjust your colors as a non-ascended gm now, so that helps a ton with the blended poo color scheme they defaulted everybody to.

Prior to their relaunch 8/10, Post 7/10. It was, however, a big enough change for one of my players who also GMs a very complicated lore game, to buy a domain and begin managing his own stuff.

I ran my last major campaign through it. Liked it well enough, though not a fan of their coding language. Wish they'd used something more mainstream.

Haven't messed with it since the relaunch.

edit ducked in and had a look around. Looks like it has promise, but should have gone through an alpha & beta cycle to smooth out the edges.

Do not like the border resizing depending on which screen you're using.

Haven't tried to edit any of my pages or defaults. But, the color scheme needs to die in a fire.

edit more Further thoughts on the relaunch:

1- Campaign Forums appear to have lost all value & use in organization. Just a mashup of most recent postings.

Useless for an active game.

I'd love it, if I could just find my old sub-forums. But, without that layer of organization, it's worthless to me.

2- Finding and controlling settings for any given thing is difficult. Especially if you're trying to get rid of those atrocious default colors. Really, who was thinking these were good colors? Fire them.

3- Why does the usable screen size keep changing?

4- For the love of all that's holy, get some tool-tips in there.

Yeah, I am really unhappy with how things get organized. I also can't seem to change the colors. Other problems too, but minor.

The one thing I did figure out, you change the color settings through the campaign's settings (not user settings).

I think it looks pretty good as far as the organization goes. Some things have been lost like comments on adventure logs which is annoying but I believe they will be back soon enough. I haven't looked at the forums yet to see the mess, but it is harder to see the recent activities.

One thing that has always bothere me is that if you use the plus sign, everything after it gets underlined. And they didn't fix that. It seems to me that if you are hosting a web sight for a RPGs that utilizes a lot...Excuse me, A LOT of plus signs in stat blocks you would not use a plus sign to underline things.

I've been using OP for my campaign for over two years. I'm pretty neutral toward the new site design, although I do understand the frustrations expressed on the boards. They should have done more extensive testing before making the switch-- maybe even offered users a preview of what their sites would look like and how they function for a few months to allow time to fix problems.

I know how site redesigns work professionally, and, honestly, this one went about as smoothly as they go. I am quite confident that they'll get the bugs worked out in the very near future.

That said, I do think that my site looked a whole lot better under the old version.

My Saturday game Gmed by Kain is on OP.

I'm waiting and seeing on what will be the end result after they finish smoothing out the changes. Some seem so obviously bad that I cannot imagine that they will not be improved (such as the color scheme). Others make it frustrating to navigate or work on the wiki.

So, I think they will improve it, and in the meantime, I've stopped writing new pages.

They've already made a few patches, such as restoring the color distinction between links that lead to a real page and links that don't have a page behind them yet (even if they switched from good old red and blue to a sickly green and puke yellow for some reason). So I can tell they are working on fixing things.

Mixed views - will see if familiarity makes me more receptive tot he changes...

I am running a Spirit of the Century game on it. I like the Character organization a little better, but miss the split between players and NPCs. The color scheme actually works as it hits the colors I was using with the "old timey" 1920s adventure feel with the yellow. I am miffed that the banner I used is screwed up, that is really annoying. Overall it is still working for me.
