What character(s) are you going to make for Season 5?

With the focus shifting to the Worldwound, I'm thinking about re-creating an old 2nd edition character I played, Damdaman, the tiefling bard. He was the son of a Cambion, so he'll be a Pitborn (+2 STR, +2CHA, -2 INT, shatter SLA), probably no archetype Bard with a crazy high CHA (the original tried to seduce the Simbul).

What are YOU going to make?

2/5 *

That's a secret. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Shadow Lodge

Stonelord Paladin because I am told that season 5 will have evil outsiders and Stonelord is the only paladin I will make.
Gnome Invulnerable Rager/Oracle/Rage Prophit Just for Shiggles
Aasimar Cleric/Fighter/Holy Vindicator. Because "I will BLEED in the name of GORUM!!!"

1/5

No! No secrets here! Ol' Damdaman never kept secrets...from...okay, secrets are fine.

1/5

Gnome Rage Prophet? Mine's a Half-Elf, Gnome sounds pretty fun, though.

Silver Crusade 4/5

I may start actually playing my paladin, who's only level 2 because I've hardly used her. My other plans for new characters have more to do with a particular character type I wanted to try and the race boon I'll be getting for GMing at GenCon than the theme of season 5.

1/5

Fromper, I'm too curious, now: what will you be making of which race boon?

3/5

I am making an Assimar Nature oracle abusing the favor class bonus for a super pet.

I am making an Axe Beak named Herodotus. I am investing a great deal of resources to make it the smartest axe beak ever. For those history buffs who know his name sake I will even give him skill focus knowledge history.

My character will claim that he is not the pathfinder, but the cohort to Herodotus. And that infact Herodotus is the Pathfinder, so direct your questions and concerns to him.

I also think the axe beak needs some magical monocole and derby...

1/5

Hey! My rage prophet that I mentioned a few posts ago is my axebeak recipient. No monocle or derby, though. I'm curious, do you have a preconceived notion that historians wear monocles and derbies or do you just want a Moa that looks like Mr. Peanut?

Silver Crusade 5/5

My friend Bob and I had our eyes on Season 5 when we made our most recent characters. We are playing aasimar brothers from Tianjing (where aasimars are the most common race). We are given to understand that there is an invasion force of qlippoths, mightier than that which challenged our celestial ancestors, and so we turn to the Inner Sea, and its battle against the Worldwound, to learn how we might best counter an incursion from the Abyss.

It was Bob's idea that he would aim for Dragon Disciple, and I would take ranks in Eldritch Knight. So my PC is a cavalier (huntmaster) companion of the Order of the Dragon / Sorcerer (celestial bloodline). My celestial dog's name is Rover.

Well Derek logic says hostorians are scholarly types. Scholarly types a dapper. A monocole and derby are definately dapper.

Do not worry Tobias, Herodotus will be celestial too.

So Damdaman, Golarionized, would have grown up a Sczarni on the northern forest roads of Ustalav. There's no way to know how many generations skipped before the "change" happened. His nomadic, superstitious family couldn't accept the terrible omen that he was and shunned him, abandoning him to fend for himself in the cold, lonely woods. Now, I have only to decide how he came to be a Pathfinder and which faction to which he should belong before I stat him up. I only know that he outright despises Sczarni for having forsaken him (I know that I'm mixing the culture and the faction; Damdaman makes no such distinction).

Probably going to play the same characters I planned on playing in season 4.

ohh come on. I come here hoping for awesome ideas to steal from and you give this. Atleast share how awesome your current character is.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Low levels: Mystic Theurge (planning on a Wiz 2/Cler 1/MT x). Never again will one of my parties lack for either divine or arcane spellcasting. The dev rulings have opened this up and I'm looking forward to see how it plays out.

Mid tiers: Shield Basher of Rovagug - primary weapon is a heavy spiked shield and pretty much that all he uses. Total blast to RP.

High tiers: ZenQuisitor - total twink built to survive S4 and will finish out with S5.

I am a big fan of this idea. Can you two hand a shield? Then be a two handed fighter and overhead chop with it while sundering thier stuffs?

Rebuilding my Reincarnated ex-pirate from a home Skulls and Shackles game to PFS, so starting him again as level one with his new half-elf race. Hoping he survives a little better than the first time... Having him join the Silver Crusade in order to redeem himself in Saranrae's eyes for his fall into piracy and brief heretical worship of Besmara, but still giving him a practical bent. Fighter (Dervish from Inner Sea Primer) going Duelist ASAP.

A shield is considered a 1-handed weapon, so you can 2-hand it.

Shadow Lodge 4/5 **** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Mt. Pleasant

I've got an Aasimar Ranger with a celestial constrictor snake that I'll be whacking demons with. :)

4/5

Low levels: Razmiran Priest/Pathfinder Savant and a Dual-cursed Oracle/Cross-blooded Sorcerer. Trying out casting after a long line of martial characters.

Mid tiers: Stonelord Paladin with a Dorn-Dergar

High tiers: Oracle of Metal, planning to get Angel Wings at level 11 and then slow track so I can enjoy winged spring attacks for as long as possible.

Sammy T wrote:

You can two hand it. But the archetype requires a two handed specific weapon. Ohh just an idea. I would still love to see some hold a shield with two hands to sunder something...

rules:
One-Handed: A one-handed weapon can be used in either the primary hand or the off hand. Add the wielder's Strength bonus to damage rolls for melee attacks with a one-handed weapon if it's used in the primary hand, or 1/2 his Strength bonus if it's used in the off hand. If a one-handed weapon is wielded with two hands during melee combat, add 1-1/2 times the character's Strength bonus to damage rolls.

Anyway...for my current characters I play a tengu bones oracle who is incredibly arrogant, foul-mouthed, and tends to be easily exasperated with his teammates, but actually is a very nice guy. NOt particularly religious. Tends to tell people he joined the Society for personal gain, but really he's just looking for clues on the whereabouts of his ex-boyfriend.

Second is his older sister, a life oracle with a love of animals, helping people, and setting things on fire. Often acts pretty ditzy and kind, but kinda flips out when people hurt her teammates. Was shadow lodge previously because she wanted to help pathfinders, but switched over to Silver Crusade after rivalry's end

Then I have a half-orc alchemist who was born in Urglin to an orc mother and human father, but moved with her father to Riddleport, then eventually Absalom. Incredibly timid, she seeks to not only get in touch with her orc roots but also show that orcs and half-orcs can actually be not-brutes, which is why she's an alchemist and wants to eventually open an alchemy shop in her birthplace. As a result she's bomb-focused and doesn't like using straight mutagens, but I kinda retired her because she sucked.

Next is my middle-aged human gunslinger, who is a retired watchman from Andoran. Used to be a total punk in his younger years but eventually reformed when he met his future paladin wife and even became a watchman. However, he stumbled upon some corruption in the higher ups who had ties to organized crime. When he refused to turn a blind eye, they tried to take him and his wife out. They eventually found the evidence to get the corrupt officials convicted, but not before his wife was killed, causing his son to resent him and eventually disown his own father. Disgusted with that, he retired from the witch and traveled to Absalom for a new beginning.

As for characters I was gonna make, there was my half-orc summoner/urban barbarian who acts gruff all the time and rides his eidolon into battle to hit things...was considering making an Aasimar Idyllikin bard with dog-features whose inspired courage by rapping (too obvious)?, a tiefling anarchist who I'm unsure would be a magus or a fighter, and also a female half-elf taldor bard who tried to pay for her family's falling estate by becoming a hitman and found out her muse is fighting. She eventually adopted the psuedonym Killer Queen (because why not) and tends to use her inspire courage as a "lullaby" for her enemies.

Spoiler:
Reaper, reaper, that's what people call me...

The Exchange

I already have a mini picked out for my lost child of Sarkoris holy vindicator (a mini for Gilles de Rais that just needs the axe swapped for a shield).

Also am really excited for the rework of the Osirion stuff, I have been wanting to do a Ranger/Living Monolith for a long time but never had the materials necessary to work in the ceremonies necessary for the ritual available!

5/5

I'm thinking of rolling up a new lowbie who'll be the son of a particular NPC from Siege of the Diamond City. He should be thematically appropriate, and the family's got an awesome last name to boot. Now, I have no clue what class he'd end up being, or anything like that.

Abyssian wrote:

I'll be getting the Ifrit/Oread/Sylph/Undine boon. I've been looking at the Sky Druid archetype for sylphs. I've never played a druid, so it might make for an interesting change of pace. Undines also look interesting, though, so I'll have to think about it.

I also recently picked up a wayang boon. Not sure if I want to use it or give it back to the community as a prize at a later time. Or maybe trade it away, if anyone comes up with something interesting on the boon trading thread.

5/5

I'm vowing to finally use one of my race boons other than my goblin. Dhampir? Fetchling? Grippli? Vishkanya? Human?

Would using a larger shield make it a two handed weapon?

sadly no. It would still be considered a one handed weapon you would NEED two hands to use.

Silver Crusade 2/5

I'm making 'knowy' types. I have a level 2 diviner with breadth of knowledge, and a new lore warden. Up until now, I haven't been very good with knowing the opponent.

My sixth level paladin is starting on her knowledge(planes) skill. She has one rank now, and so is +1. She can use the Tapestry to travel between Absalom and Nerosyan.

Edit: stupid homophone spelling.

Yeah, I also want to see what I'm getting from gencon before I make a new character. Right now I'm considering a thassilonian specialist/bloatmage conjurer. Summon all the things.

Or you know, a grippli bard who likes to introduce his party members by waving his arms in the air wildly while screaming their name and playing the banjo in the swamp.

Sczarni 2/5

Based on whether or not I can get my hands on a particular race boon, I'll be making my VC's protege.

Gunslinger 5/Something... Else? the rest of the way?

Still working out the details, and the background will be based on what I determine for the other levels and possibly race boon, possibly not.

Either way, the kid's from Alkenstar and he is NOT a fan of magic. Yet he's stuck working for Golarion's Most Terrifying Librarian (14th level Witch). He is NOT a happy camper.

Just imagine, a table of four Grippli monk/ninjas, teaming up with their comrade ratfolk sensei monk to fight crme and bring justice to the world.

1/5

Pondering the Dowager Countess Margarita Amaranth Visconia de Missari, totally fed up of her feckless nephews frittering away the family fortune (that means you, Szallus) she decides to take matters into her taloned claw and put things to rights, getting the family back on track.

Witch/Signifier.

Ok, now I'm picturing race boons for the core races, just so we can apply xenophobia to them. Can you imagine playing a human hating character? Although I guess we already have rangers, half of whom in Society play have human as a favored enemy, but nobody ever seems to play that up socially.

"It don't mean I 'hate' humans, jus' that I know where all the pressure points are. Dwarves have this bony thin over their solar plexus, so hittin' 'em there don' do nothing. Don' try to box an elf's ears; they look at you like yer crazy and then stab you upside the nose. And I ain't never found a halfling's kidney. But for humans: all those work right fine."

Humans have a weak-point for crossbow bolts. Right between the eyes.

Fact.

I'm looking at an Aasimar built around the Channel Focus feat line. Channel negative energy and watch the enemies fly backwards.

4/5 *

Mystic theurge and arcane trickster (ala new SLA rules), both wizard for arcane so I can nail those knowledge checks.

Silver Crusade 5/5

I'm rolling out the Conjurer/Cleric of Abadar old school w3/c3/MT6... not optimal at all but He'll be the swiss army knife that every party wants.

Also Angelkin Sorc/DD focus'd on Cold blasting and claws... min max'd for RP potential (5 int makes me laugh) not an optimized character, but hopefully fun... he is a GM dump for the first few levels so I am open to changing him if he feels wonky before I play him.

Wayang Stealth Witch, he is just toooo funny.

And I've gotta a couple more fellas to graduate to Seeker... Lots to do!

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I'm working on 2, Urban Barbarian/Arcane Duelist Bard - he rages and power attacks with a rapier, and Musketmaster/Inquisitor of Cayden Cailean (travel domain), because who says alcohol and firearms don't mix?

Let's see...evil outsiders = elemental resistance and SR plus a slew of nasty other abilities?

Re-rolling my old evoker from 3.x, 2.0, 1st. With a splash of demonblood so making him Tiefling. This should be challenging. :)

He'll start good-aligned...we'll see how long that lasts in the face of faction missions (Silver Crusade) and his companions (most Society groups I've played in have been amoral chaotic greedy home-invading murdering hobos.) Not to mention some Society missions he's been sent on are perfectly fitting for those types (destroy, leave no survivors, etc...)

Not sure if I'll have any alts...have plenty sitting on the bench.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

Though I've been playing him for a bit now, My principle character for Season 5 is Daxter Potts, halfling rogue and professional demonhunter.

I've also got Darda'il, an angelkin aasimar paladin of Sarenrae cued up for the low-level adventures.

5/5

I'm also considering making a Peri-blooded Thassilonian Evoker/Defense and Fate Cleric of Nethys Mystic Theurge. Sounds fun but I'm not sure how I'll swing it.

I'm already planning on making my grippli a musket master, but I really hope someone out there decides to make a grippli hellknight. The thought of a 20-inch tall, 30 lb armored terror laying down the law and bringing in perps is too hilarious to not exist.

Shadow Lodge 1/5

Pitborn Intimidation Fighter, she was raised by her parents, clerics of Sheyln interested in preserving the beauty of Sarkonian culture and who did the best they could to shelter/support/empower their daughter.

Think of those mentors/parents of kids w/learning disablities who are supportive and bring about the best possible outcome and apply it to tieflings.

It kind of worked, because in spite of her violent tendecies she is a good person; protects life, willing to sacrifice for others etc and generally show that being a tiefling is not always a bad thing if you have people who love you and are willing to help you overcome your proclivities.

However, she expresses her natural violent tendacies in violent threats and when she fights it's a scary +14 intimidate at 4th level. Plus her verbal threats are scary/warped, as in--

"If you don't behave, I'll flail you and send the skin to my sister so she can make a fashion forward handbag."

"I'll rip your lungs through your ribcage, then throw you off a cliff and see if you can fly."

"Your intestines should be wrapped around you like tinsel on a yuletide tree."

Shadow Lodge 4/5

As we hit the half-way point of the season, how are your plans shaking out?

My currently level 10 Shield Bashing Rovagug worshipper took a 3 level detour into Horizon Walker so he could use Dimensional Dervish with his Shield Bashes/Bull Rushes and become a "dimensional shepard" who will maneuver foes around the battlefield. (Ranger Freebooter 6/Horizon Walker 3/Fighter Lore Warden 1)

My planned Mystic Theurge got converted into a Shaman so I could play-test the class (Shaman of the Heavens 5)

Liberty's Edge 2/5 *

My Mendevian Crusader of Iomedae is now level 6 ( got caught up in the Dragons Demand story.. so there are 3 levels right there). Hes now nearly level 7 and will soon be close to 8 so hes already leveling quickly out of the storyline for season 5.

I had to come up with the a story that the other Crusaders considered him a bit too .. weak willed/ just to be fighting alongside them in Mendev and the Worldwound which is why they offered his services to the Society as a sort of Liason.

I built a second character, a Halfling Fighter/ Ninja (Pirate) concept who is missing a hand (thus a hook) and is aiming for Inner Sea Pirate. Hes also level 3.

Silver Crusade 2/5

My sorceress got two of the 'army' boons, but now is level 11.25 (slow progression and 5 scenarios done). I don't think I'll get the opportunity to go for the Sky Citadel with her.
