Ahhh, how incredible it is to peak my head into the PFO forums and find that this place is absolutely bumping! After some long conversations with friends last night, it re-sparked my excitement (however premature) in preparing for PFO Beta.
A few Questions (if I may)
1. I am extremely interested in dedicating time to a guild, though I am struggling to find one that matches my interests. Does a guild exist with the following criteria?
a. TN
b. Pragmatic
c. Politically Inclined
d. Aristocratic
e. Focused on principles of economics, diplomacy, leadership and reputation as opposed to "good" and "bad"
f. The goal: Amass Wealth, Gain Influence.
My search through the guild lists has not been fruitful in finding what I am looking for.
2. If a guild like this does not exist, what would it take to start one?
3. Are there restrictions as to what kind of Kickstarter Backer I need to be to start a guild? I joined at the $100 level if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for your time!

There were a couple organizations espousing TN with an economic focus but they haven't been terribly active. There is also an informal alliance of TN-inclined individuals contemplating the formation of a loose federation. Perhaps the Seventh Veil would work for you, but tbh it sounds like you may be more political and economic than lore-centric as they are.
There was a pledge-tier just for 'chartered companies' or guilds focused on the land-rush and that may open up when Goblinworks opens the anticipated post-kickstarter pledging system.

It is also very early for many CCs (or is that "Venture Companies"?) to be formally defined at this early stage, since it seems every two weeks or so new information comes out the changes the goals, tools, motivations, and/or focus of these "guilds".
I am currently "on hold" on development of my own registered CC as I wait for more info to be released...

Interesting. Thanks for getting back to me.
The Seventh Veil looks very interesting to me, but I do not yet see their claim to power. It may be non-existent, or simply not visible on the surface.
I will have to keep looking.
If you are in a guild focused on Politics, Diplomacy, Economics, please reach out, as I have much to offer in those fields.

@krybryn
Reading your list it appears that you also need to be looking for an organisation that will be big enough to found a settlement as these will be the major focus of diplomacy and politics.
It is less clear why you feel you need a True neutral organisation though. A settlement allows for alignements one step from the actual settlement alignement so for example a chaotic neutral, lawful neutral, neutral good or neutral evil settlements would all allow for true neutral characters.
Of the settlement types listed I would suspect that a lawful neutral settlement is as likely to encompass your needs as a true neutral one.
If you think a lawful neutral settlement might be of interest I will blow the trumpet of the one which I belong to Pax Aeturnum. Pax Gaming

In the very first sticky in this forum "Kickstarter Land Rush Leaderboard", there is a list of near 700 Charted Companies that was registered during the PFO Kickstarter program, my CC is one of them.
Note a LOT more CCs have been formed since that poll closed, and there are posts here that list them, and also at: PFO Fan.

Yes, I imagine LN would do perfectly. My character would be TN, and could work just fine in a LN company. I'll do some research on Pax Aeturnum. Thanks.

Funny you should post here Nihimon, I have done more delving into The Seventh Veil and the bigger picture is starting to... if I may... unveil itself.

That's an intriguing statement on a number of different levels.
We would be delighted to welcome you to the Seventh Veil :D
For what it's worth, Blaeringr is not an official representative of The Seventh Veil. We're aware that he and others like him have no doubt already infiltrated all of the larger guilds, and we're fine with that, as long as they continue to make meaningful contributions.

And when you guys weren't fine with it you accomplished nothing and eventually realized you had no choice but to be fine with it. And as far as contributions, you have no idea what contributions we are or are not making.
Be honest, Nihimon, tell them about the "witch hunt"; tell them about the list of potential spies you guys have made. Tell them about how you even snuck one person into my company but still couldn't get any names of who we were in your company.
That's what Nihimon means when he says he's "fine" with something.
Here's a tip: next time you get a spy in the door, tell him to not be so obvious as to immediately begin asking who our alts/contacts are in one specific company. That only led to me immediately telling those people not to tell anybody anything. Very sloppy spy work that immediately put him out of the communication loop and led to eventual dismissal.

Could we please avoid taunting one another on this board? It's one of the few I can honestly NOT tag with my generic game-board term "poison boards".
Are we really required to give a flying etc. about spies in a game that's not even published for another *year*? I'm not completely sure I'll be able to care enough to raise my blood pressure even after we're in the River Kingdoms for real.

Yes, I don't know if this sub-thread is in jest or serious, but it's unpleasant and making me uncomfortable either way.

Blaeringr has a tendency to characterize things in ways that serve his own interests. I would not recommend anyone take his statements at face value.
And the mudslinging continues. Funny way of showing how "fine" you are with your frustrated little situation.

The game may not be officially released for some time, but that hasn't stopped some of us from already playing it. If it's not your cup of tea, then play a game you enjoy. That's what I'm doing.

EDIT - deleted snark.
I'd be happier if there was a difference between roleplaying threads and game system discussion / crowdforging threads. Separate forums or something. Otherwise these sort of forum-based political games inevitably bleed over into crowdforging threads, with bad consequences for good faith discussion.
Sad Cooper :(

I had someone do similarly to me, inquiring about all manner of details. Phishing, sorta. I don't believe it was Seventh Veil, however.

Hello, I am theStormWeaver, Oligarch of the Pax Mercatorum (not affiliated with Pax Aeternum/Gaming).
We are a merchant's guild whose ruling elite are a council of 6 Oligarch's. We are trying to become a center for trade in the Crusader Road region and may be the kind of group you are seeking.
I personally intend to have one "adventuring" character with an Aristocrat type character as my Destiny's Twin.
You can find our thread at the other end of one of the links given to you, I am sure.
I honestly believe we are the perfect fit for what you are looking for Kybryn, and would be very happy to have you on board.

I spy with my little eye something that begins with "L".......
Yes the spying that us going on is really quite lame. We have even banned our first, very inept "spy" or conspirator from the UnNamed Company. This person, who has an IP address that puts him or her in the Legislative Building in Alberta, Canada attempted to peel off my officers to join another company. Not because that company offered something better than what the UNC offers, but because the UNC is open about its support of banditry.
The ineptness of this conspirator spy was that he or she approached members that I have known long before PFO was even on my radar. Personal friends, that I've known for up to 12 years. I knew of this plot within seconds of his first PM! Then there was the company that he supposedly represented. LOL, they had no idea whom he was either, but had suspicions that he was a person they had had a falling out with, and who also shared a Alberta, Canada address.
A good thing to remember for would be spies. There are many of us who, regardless if PFO company affiliation, are socializing and playing other games together. We can play together in Lord of the Rings Online, and then be on opposite sides in PFO.
Spies my infiltrate the UnNamed accompany, and after all of their efforts they will discover our deepest and darkest secrets.... We want to steal your stuff.... Oh wait, that us public knowledge..... Ummmm.... The secret is that the UnNamed Company can be contracted to steal your stuff...... Wait, that is public knowledge too...
I spy I see with my little eye..... Lameness!

So long as we are pacing along this path, a few days later I received a telephone call from someone with a Pakistani, possibly Hindi accent saying he was from Microsoft and had signals from my computer that it was being hacked. Immediately I wondered that Microsoft would telephone me at all when I can never get through to them. I believe he was going to suggest that I open my system to him so he could 'help' me remotely. I told him I found it incredible that he was with Microsoft at all. He repeated my words aloud expressing my incredulity as if for someone else in the room on his end, told me I was a 'treacle dog' (it sounded like), and hung up.
So... not a very playful world we live in, eh? But what is a 'treacle dog'?

I always like identifying myself as "Diana Hull" to those kinds of callers. Repeatedly, and slower and slower, until they realize or I can change from "Di an a hull" to "Die in a hole."
I once strung an advance-fee-fraud phone scammer on for several hours; I had to research a valid routing number at one point (because I wasn't going to give him any real information).

I don't like to leave things tense, especially with Nihimon. So to take a direction away from my last ornery/stubborn response, I offer this light hearted gift for PFO's collector of lore:
I give you Vuzrut the Ogre Painter.

![]() |

Did you draw that Blaeringr? Pretty good. :)
Yessir, and thank you. I hope Nihimon will hang it next to his Schmexy Giraffe.
I occasionally find an excuse to scribble up something from time to time for the PFO community.

You never cease to amaze me. Such a dichotomy. I do very much enjoy your artwork.
I hope Nihimon will hang it next to his Schmexy Giraffe.
I will.

I really like this. The sense of solidity is great, he's left-handed (yay), and that small touch of color is perfect. Wow!
