Rules Questions

Can you use dex bonus in place of str bonus for CMB when disarming if you have the weapon finesse feat?

Apparently, yes. In other news, I am baffled why the feat Agile Maneuvers exists besides an unarmed character.

For combat maneuvers that aren't trip, disarm, or sunder. You cannot use weapon finesse on them because (in general) they don't use a weapon to perform the action (unless the weapon has a special quality that allows it to be used on that specific type of maneuver).

This is however also the reason why most other maneuvers never get used unless you specialize into them specifically.

Or you have a feat that allow the useof that weapon for a maneuver. Hamatula strike for grapple and shiel slam for bull rush come to my mind.

I use Agile Maneuvers with a Hooked Lance for tripping, which can't be finessed.

The weapon has no finesse, so you have to be agile ;)

Similarly, I have a PC who uses Agile Maneuvers to make Trip and Disarm attacks with his Fauchard, which is a polearm.

About the only recah weapon which can be finessed is a whip, which has its own issues.

It seems weird to me to build a character with obstensibly more dex than str (to justify agile maneuvers) and then take a non finesable weapon to trip.

Mine was designed on taking lots and lots of AoOs, which is also why he has Greater Trip.

He does crap for damage, except with his backup weapon, a +1 Agile rapier, but his enemies tend to be prone around him, without weapons, with his allies smiling down at them.

Then again, he recently added Butterfly's Sting, and he has Improved Critical for his fauchard, which is an 18-20 weapon already... Crit possible, confirm, pass to his ally with the x3 or x4 weapon...

And with 8 AoOs, he gets lots of chances to crit fish...

Holy crap, Butterflys Sting is some sick stuff! I REALLY dont want to derail here, but can you hand out multiple crits in a turn? And to the same ally?
