These couples need not be married or of opposed gender. The only requirement is that the two be nearly inseperable companions

1. Barttelby Flightsncatcher Starfly and Emma Fireborn Starfly
This Gnome couple is a pair of Missinaries of Seranae who have dedicated their lives to the purification of abandoned shrines and chapels of the Dawnflower. Bart wields a Gnome Hooked Hammer with incredible skill, specializing in holding beasts at bay while his wife uleashes Seranae's holy wrath on the unlucky squatters.
If encountered on the road, they are friendly and inviting, often joining with other traveling parties for the night. They enjoy re-enacting some of their more exciting exploits.
If encountered within a chapel or shrine, they are fearsome, singlemindedly cleansing the area with holy fire before assisting any adventurers. If the adventurers oppose them, they are quick to engage and furious in a fight.

2. Abraxavius Dartenly and Nummora Dartenly
The Dartenlys are a pair of Asmodaean Inquisitors who specialize in the tracking and apprehension of "prodigal" contract violators. While Asmodaean in religion, they maintain relatively loose ties with the Church, supposedly reporting directly to Hell itself. Whether this is true or not, they are renoun for bring in even the most deeply hidden of renegades.

3. Bukk and Frik
This startlingly odd pair of Orc Bards can usually be found in the seediest of taverns singing Orc and Giant war ballads. They are dressed in dyed leather and furr from head to toe. Bukk specializes in the Lute and Frik a wooden Whistle like instrument, though they are capable of playing each other's instruments if the story requires.
The two will insist they are married if asked, but will not say who is the husband and who is the wife. There are several betting pools taking odds on which is which.

4. Fhago the Tiger and Jojet the Serpent
This couple of quarter-elven brothers are as different in attitude as they are similar in appearance. They both are stunningly handsome, and many a damsel sighs for one or the other. Together, they're the most relentless duo of evil dragon hunters in the world.
A NG magus/paladin, the older brother Fhago inherited more elvish blood but is nonetheless rakish and quick-tempered. His enemies fear his bursts of anger. He loves nothing more than a good fight, with two swords or with sword and shield (shield punches are favorite). His mount is a half-celestial tiger, whence the name. As he levels up, his connection with divine forces grows.
A LG cavalier/ranger, the younger brother Jojet is more human in appearance, but quieter and more thinkful. He likes to travel the world abroad. His mount is a serpent-headed horse, and he excels in the mounted archery fighting style. His greatest desire is to know as many countries, landscapes and terrains as he can in a lifetime.

Scarab Sages

5. Simon and Sally
Anyone who meets this wandering pair of Druids cannot describe them as anything but odd. They slowly wander the countryside and ritually bury the corpse of any creature killed by unnatural means. They are the bane of hunters and have served as cleanup crew to several adventuring parties. They are also Pacifist, and are adept at melting into the environment when truly threatened.

6. Thervold and Tobler Stonedark
Dwarven twin brothers - fighter and cleric, respectively. – Almost indistinguishable from one another in matching scale armor and heavy crossbows. However, Thervold carries a battleaxe and Tobler a warhammer.

They tend to finish one another’s sentences, but seem to primarily communicate with one another by a series of meaningful looks, glances and subtle signs (a byproduct of years clearing tunnels of vermin and foes).

Experts in Orc language and lore, and have invested much time and study in their traditional enemies. Although they maintain their racial hatred for their foes, they have also respect for them as a worthy enemy.

(these two are currently assisting my wife and daughter’s PCs – punctuated by much rolling of eyes and grumping about the ‘tall women’)

7. Joliet Jake & El Wood: a Bard and a Druid who tend to speak in monotone; they wear black & white garments, are always behind on their bills, and are busy trying to get their original adventuring group back together after a long hiatus. They need the PCs to help them with a job their gawdess has demanded they undertake, but they cannot offer up-front pay.

8. Vasquez and Heady: A Gnome musketeerwith a blunderbuss and a sweet mustache. In his possession is a detatched, still alive, zombie head that he has attached wheels and a miniature little 'cart' to, for easy wheeling around. Poshment seems to have no trouble understanding the grotesque thing when it moans, and always takes good care of his 'good friend'.

Also, Vasquez totally dresses like a Conquistador. It's way boss.

9. Jonas Ironback (m dwarf fighter) and Evelynn Shadowbrook (f elven Mystic Theurge). Former adventuring companions of Chase and Mira Highland and godparents to Shandra Highland (f human rogue). After Mira died in child birth, Chase called on his closest friends and former adventuring companions to act as guardians for his only child in the event of his demise which unfortunately came a few years later at the hands of dragon raid.

The two guardians are complete opposites and pretty much despise each other, but are united in their common goal of raising their human ward. While Jonas is stern and tries to shelter Shandra from everything, Evelynn let's her get away with almost anything and prefers to let her learn things through experience. They both strive to instill their own cultural values in her, and frown upon her acting too much like the other.

You can't have an adventuring couple list without these two. Plus, I saw the movie last night.

10. Hansel & Gretel: These human siblings have been hunting witches for a long time. Hansel, a witch hunter inquisitor/gunslinger, is a very stoic, no-nonsense individual who prefers a direct approach to their witch-slaying. Gretel, a witch hunter inquisitor/hedge witch, prefers a slower yet more investigative approach. Together, these two have slain many evil witches throughout the lands.

11) Bastion Slipfoot & Fildor Clinque

A mad as a hatter halfling rogue and his gnomish alchemist counterpart. Slipfoot who suffers from mostly harmless but severe madness does things like attack zombies with yard fowl based on his own demented reasoning and frequently pickpocketing his gnome friend only to mix up his vials and ingredients or replacing potions with frogs.

Fildor who was actually the cause of Bastion's madness due to an alchemical experiment gone wrong feels compelled to care for his friend while trying to discover a way to cure his madness.

They make for excellent "hindering allies" that beg the questions "with friends like these, who needs enemies?"

I have personally had a great deal of fun running them...

Heh, that was my contribution to the summoners thread.

14. Nella & Variel
A beautiful dryad (druid) travels around the world with her "bodyguard", a Huge Awakened oak tree (wild stalker barbarian; can be mistaken for a treant). She has a curious nature, as her bonded oak can follow her around, thus suppressing her weakness. She often "rides" her oak in the branches or sitting on his shoulders. The oak tree himself is gentle by nature, but he can easily lose his temper when his bonded dryad is in danger.

Finn & Sawyer: two human brothers who claim to be bounty hunters, notable for carrying enough weaponry to stop a small war . Dedicated to their code with absolutely no other discernible morality, their code apparently consists of 1) always have a backup plan 2) never work without a contract 3) never work for governments 4) absolute loyalty to each other.

16.Professor Kilroy K. and Doctor Aldeena Dappleglade

Professor Kilroy (who gives a random last name beginning with K when asked) is a very old gnome archivist bard, one of the greatest scholastic experts on the Mwangi Expanse despite never having spent a day of his life outside Varisia. Six months ago he noticed a stray white hair and decided the perfect way to stave off the Bleaching would be to actually experience the Expanse in person; he promptly packed and left, without bothering to inform anyone -- including his dedicated "handler" and caregiver, Dr. Dappleglade (adult gnome chirurgeon/crypt-breaker alchemist), who has just caught up with his little expedition to the lost city of Saventh-Yhi and is extremely annoyed about the whole thing.

17. Riccar Wittenheim and Silla-Mima

The eidolon Silla-Mima, apparently a catfolk woman, insists that she's a minor avatar of an ancient goddess of that people and that the amnesiac human summoner bound to her is the reincarnation of her champion and lover Riccar. Several actual catfolk, including the clergy of Silla-Mima, have taken some exception to one or both claims (those who accept her divinity insist that Riccar would never incarnate as a human).

16. Theo "Doc" Cassidy, Jezekka Thunder-of-Drums, and Revekka Drums-of-Thunder (okay, technically a triple)

A human alchemist (chirurgeon/grenadier) and his half-orc assistants and wives, identical twin sisters (barbarian and druid, respectively); together they run a snake-oil medicine show (where the miracle cures are genuine) in a fantasy Wild West setting.

The Exchange

19. Tyr VanForg and his servant, Nadri.

Wizened mage (human male ancient) selling his magical wares/services, waxing eloquently on a wide range of subjects, tendency to be long-winded yet easily distracted. The made to order wares are typically scrolls and potions, turn around time typically one day. MW Lab set up in the horse-drawn wagon.

Nadri (gnome, female, youthful) is the brains behind the merchandizing. Originally hired as a domestic servant, she ended up being his handler; learning magecraft mostly out of self-preservation despite Tyr's bias against "unlettered help". Despite this, she is fond of the old man and sees in him an opportunity to explore the world, build a nest egg and develop a trade network. She is actually a low-level wizard in her own right. Well-schooled (the old mage never stops talking, even in his sleep) but hardly any opportunity to practice except finishing orders the master started but nodded off mid-project.

20. Elizabeth Redbeard and her servant Gregor Malk

A tragic accident led to Miss Redbeard becoming Polymorphed from a mid-level fighter into a small red rabbit. This was due to her sensitivity about her last name, and they have been kicked out of an inn more than once when she attacked anyone who makes a comment on her masculine appearance. Unfortunately, one of her would-be victims was an epic-level transmuter.

Her squire, Gregor, a plucky young fellow, has been ordered to travel the land and find a cleric strong enough to undo the enchantment. They haven't had much luck yet.

Fortunately, Redbeard is still a terror on the battlefield. No one really knows how.

21. Cynthia Mulroy and Gorwin Bugbear's-Bane

This pair of itinerant warriors seem an odd couple-- odder still when it is learned that they're married. Without looking for payment, they defend the weak from the strong, but usually can't resist a tavern (or a barfight.)

Cynthia (human female fighter [swashbuckler]) is a witty and outspoken red-haired woman who wears fashionable yet functional leather armor and a tricorner hat with a large green plume. In combat, she weilds two rapiers and moves acrobatically around the field.

Gorwin (human male barbarian) is a warrior from the northlands with long black hair and full beard, wearing hide armor, a horned helmet, and furry boots. He viscously swings a greataxe in combat, charging straight into the toughest-looking opponent. Boastful but quick with a laugh, Gorwin has a very kind heart (when he's not raging...)

The most remarkable thing about this pair is their unconditional love for each other. They have been adventuring together for years, and have no plans to stop!

(These were two PCs from a campaign I played in 20 years ago [I played Cynthia.]. They tend to show up as NPCs in any campaign I run.)

22. Professor Barnabulus and his able assistant Tuxley: Not only is this how Barnabulus introduces himself, it's also painted on the side of their circus wagon. These two are the guiding force behind Barnabulus' Traveling Cavalcade of Wonder, a wandering circus/sideshow with an ever-changing staff. Barnabulus (N old human male Wizard 4) is forever in search of oddities of nature, sorcery and artifice - the sentient ones are offered a lucrative contract and 'safe passage' through civilized lands, while the non-sentient are carried about for display in the tent modestly labelled 'Astonishing Marvels of the World (Admission Just 4 cp)'. While Barnabulus is the trained showman and ringmaster of the group, a lot of its most dangerous work is undertaken by Tuxley (N middle-aged halfling male Rogue 11 / Master Spy 4), the good Professor's quiet, efficient, forgettable aide and administrator. The remainder of the Cavalcade are not adventurers in any regular sense - just the usual assemblage of runaway merchants' daughters, fire-eaters, orphans of mysterious background, monsters in disguise, awakened animals pursuing a career in show biz, princes in hiding, tattooed ladies, star-crossed lovers, and so forth.

23. Hadrian Calthiss and Veronica Calthiss

A pair of Chelaxian Aristrocrats, Hadrian (Witch) and Veronica (Summoner) Calthiss are true hedonists, only working on behalf of the Paracountess Zarta Dralneen in the Pathfinder Society out of a sense of boredom. The favors (and some whisper the punishments) of the Paracountess, however, are an additional enticement for both of them. Both are attractive, vain, vapid and seem exceptionally keen on finding new experiences, ones that mainly revolve around diversions and/or recreational pleasure.

Hadrian and Veronica are often found accompanied by Druscilla, Veronica's Eidolon. Druscilla appears to be an attractive human woman as well, although in combat the sudden appearance of a distended fang-filled maw, black shark's eyes and razor-sharp claws tends to spoil the effect somewhat.

Records on the Calthiss family are vague and incomplete. In fact, very few are entirely sure whether or not Hadrian and Veronica are siblings or a married couple. The physical affection they display as well as their uncanny resemblance to one another further makes establishing their exact relationship even more complicated.

In combat, Hadrian and Veronica dote upon each other and upon Druscilla, working together to hex and bespell their foes until they are easy prey for their eidolon companion to tear apart. Hadrian as well displays an unsettling tendency to work his enemies into a state of helplessness, then finish them with elaborate weaving arcs of a war razor that he keeps secreted upon his person. He has been heard to refer to these grisly finishes as 'painting' and professes to be a patron of the arts.

(These are PFS characters that my wife and I currently play. Occasionally, we are also joined by Drake Calthiss (Fighter), the black sheep of the family who has aligned himself with the Andoran cause, played by my brother-in-law.)

23. Simple Simon and Jacklynne

Contrary to what his title may imply, Simple Simon is a very learned and articulate theologian and missionary of Calistria. He goes about the countryside in simple clothes and preaches that love in its simplest, purest forms can mend all harms and bring peace to life. His companion, Jacklynne, is a disguised Succubus who is changing Simon's mind, one night at a time.

24. Guns & Mercy
Traveling a circuit between Belkzen & Alkenstar, this pair often gets odd looks from travelers in both areas, though those they rescue rarely complain to their face. Kordite Singebeard, a dwarf notable for the perpetually smoking braids in his beard is a master alchemist and wandering gunslinger, who prefers to let his musket and bombs speak for him. His companion, “Mercy” is a half orc redeemer paladin who speaks in a strangely cultured voice and prefers well-reasoned and articulate argument to the need to utilize his great axe. Their arguments are often heard long before they are seen and many a bandit has been surprised at the speed of their response when attacked and at being offered a chance to “work off the noose debt” after they were healed by “Mercy”.

25. Dex & Sin
The Aspis Consortium has great practice dealing with “business impediments” which cannot be charmed, convinced, or cajoled. For simple matters, they often hire thugs or assassins, but sometimes – especially when dealing with the Pathfinder Society – such methods are merely a delaying tactic as those who are killed are often brought back to life and are even more difficult to deal with now that they are forwarned.
For such issues, they often contract with outside help via a man known as Mister Grey. Grey never involves himself directly, and instead relies on his “right and left hands” or, as he likes to refer to them more traditionally, as his “Dexter” and “Sinister”.
Sin is a female infiltration and poison specialist, who often finds and sets up their targets for elimination. She is rumored to be a Mantis-trained assassin and may still be a part of the Red Mantis. Dex is an arcanist with a cacodaemon he utilizes to capture the souls of their targets once Sin has eliminated them. He normally assists Sin with ensuring their target is eliminated and then magically transports both himself and Sin from the area. Once their target has been eliminated, they confirm the elimination with Mister Grey by the simple expedient of giving him the soul gem created from the psyche of their target.

26. Blood of Halo and Horns
Sometimes those who are of the blood the celestial and infernal find they have more in common with each other than those who would see them as “opposites”. This is especially the case with these two “cousins”.
Triel is a hell-knight trained tiefling paladin and her family proudly traces its infernal ties and her bloodline back to the Dispater. Growing up she found her world views often challenged by the surprising successes of the abolitionists which constantly foiled her family and their society.
Donovan is an aasimar hell knight signifier, whose bloodline can be traced directly to Ragathiel. His darker views of the world often clash with that of his infernal blood, but celestial-minded cousin.
They share familial ties, and are still trying to discern what exactly that means. What they do know is that someone or something has tried to have them both killed, several times starting in their childhood. All auguries point towards demons, but none indicate why it is that demons seek their destruction. Triel seeks to minimize damage to innocents and spoke with Donovan to stay always on the move. Donovan sought to minimize the chances that they would be ambushed by demons and sought to stay on the move and wisely said nothing. The pair can be found traveling to anywhere that demons have held sway, but are no longer in control seeking to answer the mystery of why the demons seek their lives over those of so many others.

27. The Widow and the Mantis
It is well known that those who seek to become gods often fall afoul the Red Mantis. Sometimes, however, those who seek godhood gain assistance from this strange pair. Suriah Michelayne is a diviner wizard and a widow whose husband was killed by the Red Mantis Assassins for seeking the secrets of godhood. One night when discussing the work she did assisting her husband, she became embroiled in a conversation with Mavria Redmist, an inquisitor of the Red Mantis. She had several radical ideas about the Star Stone and the creation of Achaekek that intrigued and disturbed the assassin-priestess. She also had evidence. After a several nights of alcohol and philosophy, not only had Mavria decided NOT to kill Suriah, but she was converted to her world view and became a heretic in the eyes of the Red Mantis assassins. Now the pair seek whispers of those seeking the Test of the Starstone and old records of those who became gods before the Earthfall.

28. The Fox & the Raven

This odd pair has been spotted wandering from port city to port city inquiring about the birth of an aasimar child with silver and gold eyes. Yimali, a three tail white-furred kitsune oracle, appears primarily in her human form – a tien woman with long-flowing white hair which reaches almost to her knees in a formal kimono whose mon appears to have been burned off. Akizo, a tengue kensai magus, who wields a strange sword with a double blade like a fork* is her constant companion. Both seem very leery of tieflings and avoid vishkanya whenever possible. They are said to be pursuing a prophecy involving the destruction of the Six Viper Crown** and have already foiled numerous vishkanya assassins in service to the Slithering Daimyo**.

* Rhoka
** Completely fabricated, not meant to bear any resemblance to anything currently existing in the Pathfinder Campaign Setting.

29. The Ice Princess and her Shadow
For most of the residents of Irrisen, life is cold, brutish and short. The exception to this rule is the life of the nobility, called the Jadwiga, who can trace their heritage back to that of the Witch-Queen, Baba Yaga herself. The Jadwiga ruthlessly control the power within Irrisen by right of the superior blood of Baba Yaga herself. It’s more than a bit embarrassing then, when even stronger blood prevails.
Natahvya of the Jadwiga Ksenya was born with that potential lethal embarrassment. Her grandmother’s blood granted her great power in witchcraft, but the taint of her father’s bloodline also erupted in sorcerous potential when she as 16. Coupled with the traditional shame of the Ksenya bloodline, few expected her to survive long into adulthood. Nor would she have, had she not met the Witchguard Valt Shoremuse.
Valt Shoremuse was one of the youngest witchguards ever to complete the rigorous training required of those who would protect the nobles of Irresen. Coupled with the rumors of elven blood in his background, everyone expected that he would merely be an “arm companion” to an older Winter Witch. When he happened upon the attack upon Natahvya, however, he acted instinctively and cut down two of her attackers before realizing that one of them was of the Jadwiga Elvanna.
The pair fled Irrisen and now spend their time foiling the plots of the White Witches in nearby countries and evading their assassins and agents. Those who seek to bring down Elvanna or infiltrate Irrisen often seek them out for information, which they are only happy to provide – in sufficiently public or secure surroundings.

30. Pen and Whisperer
Based in Absalom, this pair is usually spoken of only in hushed whispers by the movers and shakers of the city. Pen and Whisperers are contract destroyers of reputation, who sideline in the occassional espionage or counter-espionage. The Poisoned Pen is rumored to be a diviner wizard with an incredible talent at forgery who often uses magics to artificially age his forgeries and then wipe all hints of magic from them. The Whispered Word, sometimes known as the Whisperer, is said to be a bard who specializes in disguise capable of starting or suppressing any rumor, no matter how incredible. Though many have attempted to track them down, they generally refuse to meet any employer or lackey in person and rely on magical communication to negotiate contracts.

31. The Sheep and the Goat

This pair wanders the countryside and eats grass placidly. If separated by any means, the endangered one (or, if there is no danger, the one that was moved) will unerringly teleport to the safer one in 1d4 rounds. No known effect can stop this from happening. They are usually followed about by a group of stumped looking arcane and divine researchers.
