Fix my Paladin!

Advice

So I've joined a campaign on Roll20, where the GM is running the Kingmaker AP. Since I usually play unique characters, I made a Bleached Gnome Paladin of Shelyn.

Loinks to Myth-weavers page
(Ignore the high hit points, GM started us off with extra)

My character was built with role playing 100% in mind, but he seems a tad underpowered. I wonder if he's going to survive the AP at all.

Any advice on what I could do over the course of his leveling that would make him less wimpy?

19 point buy?

Did you roll stats?

19 point buy. GM Doesn't like round numbers, I guess.

well your stats are fine.

if you mean wimpy as in no damage. ditch the shield, get power attack, use the hammer two handed, damage problem solve.

it's an either or propostion, if you want defense use shield. if you want offense, two hands and power attack.

Being a small character like a gnome really takes away from the mass damage that a paladin is known for. Most of the small character builds lean towards the lancer/mounted combat route because the lacking of a higher STR gets mitigated by all the doubling from spirited charge.
It is also favorable to the medium sized races because being a small creature means you ride a medium sized mount, and that mount can maneuver in dungeons a lot easier than a large one can.

I recommend looking into Mounted Combat, Power Attack, Ride-By Attack, and Spirited Charge, it's pretty standard, but it's effective. I'm trying to remember if there is a way to get a boost on handle animal and ride with a racial ability for gnomes, it seems like there was one, but I may be thinking halfling. Unsanctioned Knowledge is also pretty much a staple feat for paladins, but you may want to consider a rebuild on your stats for it. INT is more important than WIS, and your divine grace makes up for the negative on the save that you get for dumping WIS, and that gives you more points to play with

Your racial bonus and being a mounted charger also means you will spend less time getting hit and can afford to spend less on CON than other paladin builds.

My point buy for this character looks like:
STR 16(-2)
DEX 13
CON 12(+2)
INT 13
WIS 7
CHA 14(+2)

Other options for you are the archer-din build, but it suffers a lot more from MAD and requires basically the same stats as above, but with an even better DEX which you don't have.
If you're dead set on being a gnome paladin, my vote is go the charger route, use a lance, because it's the best damage output you can do with a small character. If you wan't to do something tanky, Versatile Human is the best race for a paladin, next to a couple of Aasimar variants.

What Marshmallow said.

Small sized mounted paladins actually tend to be better than medium ones, despite the Str penalties. Being able to move around more easily on your medium mount makes up for slightly reduced damage.

Then break out your lance - when mounted you can use your shield with it, too.

Also mounts are cheap at lower levels until you can summon your mount, and when you can you get all your sweet animal companiony things going.

Alternatively, don't do damage at all, just make the party immortal with this: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/paladin/archetypes/paizo---pal adin-archetypes/sacred-shield

and this: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/ultimate-mercy

Could max out on CHA and go the hospitaler route. Though Ultimate mercy is subpar because the paladin can take Channeled Revival and only use 6 uses of LoH rather than 10. Doable at lvl 11.

Liberty's Edge

Do both! Ultimate mercy also fixes a lot more things than breath of life, though it can't be done in combat. Really, if you are playing a sacred shield, you're doing it wrong if the party dies from HP damage.

Ultimate Mercy is probably only needed if your group lacks a Cleric/Oracle or your DM is both bloodthirsty and stingy with treasure. Channeled Revival looks pretty cool, but you might want to give up Channel Energy to swear an Oath of Vengeance (archetype). This will let you convert your Lay on Hands into Smite Evil.

If it isn't too late to change ability scores I'd dump Wis as MM suggests, but I'd pump up Charisma rather than Strength. Make Charisma as high as possible. This will give you more and better uses of your daily powers. If you smite a lot and maybe fight defensively a bit the DM should have a hard time hitting you. Since Kingmaker offers more downtime than many campaigns it isn't a bad idea to take a crafting feat or two. Craft Wondrous Items can halve the cost of Silver Smite Bracelet as well as ability boosting items.

By the way, I hope your "Chile of the Temple" is tasty (you've got a typo in your traits)

24 hp at 1st level?

I'm confused.

Yes, that should be "Chili of the Temple" to reflect their fantastic cookouts.
