Do you play WOW? Would you like to hang out with some Paizo people and friends of Paizo?
We have an Alliance guild (Anvil Pounders, level 25) and a Horde guild (Paizonian Horde, level 22) on the Borean Tundra server. We did a lot of heroics during Cata and we're just starting to gear up for Pandaria heroics.
Stop by, say hi, ask anyone in either guild for an invite. Guild chat rules are the same as the Paizo message boards: don't be a jerk, we want the guild to be a fun and friendly place.
And if you haven't played before, or stopped playing for a while and want to start up again, let me know and I'll hook you up with a recruit-a-friend or a scroll of resurrection.*
*No gp cost! ;)
Edit: Here's the thing: It's REALLY easy for you to be a negative person. Skip it. Don't bother posting a reply. Don't say "people still play WOW?" Don't say "all the cool people are playing some other game." It doesn't make you look smart, or funny, or cool; it makes you look like a jerk. And not only is "don't be a jerk" part of the rules for this message board, it's right up there in my post. I like playing WOW. Lots of people do. If you don't like playing WOW, this is not the place to say so, because I don't care and this isn't about you. If you don't like something, and someone posts about liking that thing, you don't have to go out of your way to crap on it. Grow up.

What time zone is Borean Tundra? Are you guys/gals mostly on alliance or horde? I quit but I'm still paid up till the 10th, I'd consider returning though.
BT is on Central time. Jason picked the server. :p
The Alliance guild is technically larger, but both guilds are at about the same level of activity (low). Jodi and I are on every day, Will Chase is on several times a week, Lissa was on every day but has been distracted by marriage and such.
Also, are you planning on raiding?
Yes, but we'd need more people, as on a good night there are perhaps five people online. :)

I am active on both, with 2 90s on Alliance and 1 90 on Horde. Jodi prefers her Alliance main but has been working on Mists with her Horde hunter. We have 3 new 90s on the Horde side and we're going to start doing heroics there, but we just as easily could do that on the Alliance side. Just pick a faction that you prefer and we'll make it work (we have a set night for dungeons on the Alliance side and need to pick a day for that on Horde, too).

We welcome characters of any level.
On the alliance side, if you type
/who anvil pounders
it should bring up a list of anyone in the guild who is online at the time; send them a whisper, tell them you're a Paizo fan, and ask for a guild invite. If it's Jummy, Holycraapp, Ghostwalk, Lupolin, or Valyriaa, you're talking to me. :)
On the Horde side, you can use
/who Paizonian
to get a list of who's online with the Horde guild. If it's Oome, Bluetoof, Copperboom, or Haskell, you're talking to me. :)
I think there's a way to set up the guild so you can send a request even if there's nobody online; I'll look into that tonight.
As many of us are on the west coast, you're more likely to catch us online after 7pm PT.

Interested, but I will elaborate on what a previous poster mentioned. How serious are you guys planning to get?
If it is anything more than 'not very' you are going to have to pick a faction, at least to start with. I get why you would want to have both, but you split your playerbase that way at the beginning and run the very real risk of neither getting beyond a random handful of people on at any one time.
As you know, server transfers get expensive quick. But I am sure quite a few people (myself included) would be willing to pay that cost if there was a clear idea of where the guild would be going and what we could expect.
Just my 2 cents.

Have to ask... why did the Horde get the namesake guild?
| Sean K Reynolds Designer, RPG Superstar Judge |
We've been playing for over a year on this server. I've been playing WOW on another server since before AQ opened. Jodi wants to raid, I'm fine with doing heroics and doing LFR if we have people who want to raid. If people want to raid, that's fine, but I'm not going to try to force anyone to JOIN THE GUILD BECAUSE WE ARE RAIDERS RAWR.
Alliance outnumbers Horde about 2:1 on BT. It's a medium-pop server, and the AH on the Alliance side is pretty stable, but can be volatile on the Horde side. So that may affect your decision.
With how quickly you can level nowadays, the cost of transferring an existing character doesn't have to be an issue. If you don't want to pay for a character transfer, don't. :)
Have to ask... why did the Horde get the namesake guild?
Jason created the guild when we first started playing on this server. January of last year I created the Horde guild with the specific intent of opening it up to the public (thus the obvious Paizo), but various real life things delayed that. I'll probably end up renaming the Alliance guild in the next few weeks.

Also, I think if no one is online at the time you want to join, you can send a request to join our guild. I think that would work just fine and we could then try to add you if you're online when we log in ;oD Hopefully you wont have to wait around TOO long for that.
About the Pandas: If you've not played one yet just know that if you start a panda you can't pick horde or alliance until around level 12 or 13 which also means you can't be added to a guild until you pick which faction you want. It's a bummer to not get those xp benefits right away but you really can level fast regardless. Also, there are no mailboxes in the starting area LOL!!!
Also, are you planning on raiding?
I'd like to do some raids but we just don't have enough regulars to do so each week. I've been using the raid finder, it's pretty awesome! I even would like to go back and do some Cata raids as I didn't get to do any of them (the raid finder wasn't up then). My main is a NE Hunter. BM for questing MM for raiding.
I don't suppose anyone from Paizo plays EVE Online?
Sean and I certainly don't, sorry. I'm not sure of anyone in our guild that does either. I enjoy pvp in battlegrounds or when I toggle it on but I'm not really into forced pvp all the time...or having to find something to do all the time, I loooove questing and lore. ;o) Sorry this is more about people playing WoW with us. You could always start a separate thread looking for EVE players. ;oD
Ah! Is Borean Tundra an RP server? It would be really tempting to join just to be able to say, "I play World of Warcraft with Paizonians!" :O
It's a normal server. I wouldn't recommend joining just for that reason hahaha. Join to have fun and play!

It's a game for fun, and once you start pressuring people to do stuff they're not all that jazzed about it turns into playing the game for someone else and not yourself--we are not going to be doing that. What it all boils down to is that this is a game and games are always more fun with more friends joining them. I don't want to make it seem like an unpaid job haha!
We split it horde and alliance because we've been doing this for a long time now because some of our friends prefer alliance (me) and some prefer horde. This way people can play what they want and enjoy it ;o).
We're absolutely NOT asking anyone to pay to transfer characters or do anything extravagant. We just wanted to open up the guild so that people can start and play characters with us. For me, leveling a character is the best part of playing. Plus, our guilds have perks that help with xp!
If you WANTED to transfer one, that's cool but I just don't want anyone to feel pressured to! ;o) Our Alliance guild is level 25 and our Horde guild is level 22. So, either way your lowbies are going to get decent bonuses ;oD
I recommend starting a new character on our server in our guild if you're that concerned about the situation. THEN, if you like the guild and want to continue you can transfer other characters. I understand why people would not want to pay to transfer to a different server if they've never played with that group before. I wouldn't at all. LOL!!! But I would start a new character there to test the water. It's really plain and simple--we wanted to have more players and felt like the paizo community would be a good place to recruit ;o)

Can I ask what time zone in '+hours' you guys are in. Being from NZ I have played with US folks before but I'm always a little fuzzy on making sure I link up time-wise rather than being Mr Kiwi-No-Friends. I would be keen on Alliance and healing (Pally heals specifically). Was doing hardcore raiding but burnt out so badly I started playing Never Winter Nights (the first one) instead. After some shites & giggles.
Nice idea a Paizo-staff-fan guild,

Ill make a decision by the weekend. I've been playing wow since release but took a hiatus a few times, the longest about 4 months. I just quit after we went 5/6 Mogushan Vaults 10m.
That said, I am casual but I do like to raid. I've played just about every class through the years to end game, so I'm not crazy about leveling a toon ATM, though Monk healing would be a possibility. I've GMed 2 end game guilds myself, one of which was the number 2 alliance guild on Fenris when Karazhan was new, I know how time consuming it can get and I don't have any desire to go "hardcore". One or two nights a week raiding would be optimal.
LFR on he other hand is out for me. I don't like large scale raids, I gave up that stuff when Naxx 40 man was new (after 5 months hardcore).
I'm not worried to much about transfers in general, I have over $1000 in transfers through the years :/ but if I do I'll go alliance since it is 2:1 as you stated, chances are I can get into a 10m raid every now and then. I miss my Priest but he's horde again ATM, so that transfer will cost more. :)
My Goblin Priest is Healiocity on Fenris for armory purposes. My Panda Resto Shaman is Takeout on Lothar.
My account is scheduled to expire tomorrow but who knows. The chance to play casually with Paizo and forum folks seems like fun. My itches to raid, not so much :P

I just want to point out that our main goal is just to have more cool people online that we can group up with and do whatever. We have no specific goal in mind nor is it ever going to be some strict schedule. Having a dungeon night once a week is about as strict as we get. And I like that idea because it means if you log on, you're guaranteed to be able to play with a group at least that one day. For a lot of people, just like to play solo and chat in the guild about crafting or whatever. I think that's fun too! So whether you're not experienced at playing AT ALL or you're super experienced, we welcome you all. Doesn't matter. ;o) The only thing we DON'T want are hateful people trying to cause problems. And I'm sure it'll happen but we can easily correct that. Heheh!

Awesome about playing NWN, did you ever play Baldur's Gate I or II? During college that's like all I ever let myself play because I knew WoW would be too much of a distraction from school! HAH! I sometimes get burned out from doing dailies for rep and even doing dungeons over and over (I really don't like repeating dungeons to death). If I get burned out I just take a few days off from playing or I'll switch to one of my lowbies and quest on them. My favorite thing is questing and rare-hunting.

We're not hardcore or planning to be. We thought it would be nice if people that WERE hardcore could join up with others that are hardcore and let the more casual gamers stay out of the serious gaming. Basically, it's a way to connect with like minded people. I personally think it would be great just to have someone help me do some rare hunting at times. I have tons of friends, who were once strangers, on my friends list from WoW that simply like to camp rares. It works great for me when I work because I just basically check my screen once in a while. So definitely we're not super hardcore or anything like that. We'll never pressure anyone to play, it's about fun...this isn't work and should not be treated as such!!!
What we'd LIKE to do, is have a specific "game night" for Alliance and the Horde side, inviting ALL levels to be online at the same time. From there everyone could pair up and do what they wanted to do. I sort of like the idea of winging it like that for a while because it gives us more options to see how the guild is going to form and play out. I personally think it'll be pretty fun just to have more people online!
Ok I will have to build my Gnome Monk for this Guild :)
Hahahah righteous! I thought about making a Goblin Monk! Or a Tauren Monk just to see how hilarious it looks!!!

Actually I pre-date Baldur's Gate and cut my teeth on SSI games (Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades etc).
Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale etc are all available at Good Old Games for really cheap in case anyone is interested in some retro-RPG games and all packaged with the latest updates and so they work on Windows 7 without buggering about. None of the really old school SSI games however.
Sounds like the kind of WOW I would be keen on playing, not so much grinding more hanging out doing silly quests and the like. Might transfer my NE Druid (he's existed since WOW was first released) and see how things pan out. I stopped playing after we finished the end content of Wrath and we got into farming mode - which bored me silly.
Any chance (if enough people) the guild could have its own section on this forum? For up coming events (sometimes pre-planning is good) and the like?
Funny stuff,
S.
