They are all fun to play. Something to know, though, is that with the release of new figures of characters from the first game in new posses might give you the impression that the figures would represent new character abilities, they do not. A hex from the Giants game release plays exactly like a hex from the first game, and can be used in both games.
Figures released as part of the second game, Giants, that do not already occur in the first game (Mainly the Giants, but some of the smaller figures are also new), do not work with the first game.

Ive been playing it with my kids and i love it. They should make an adult version of this game (Diablo etc) with real miniatures such as Heroclix or pathfinder. The giants are very powerful and in player vs player i have not found a small figure that can beat a giant. I have it for the wii and i give it a solid B+

We got my son (5) and my nephews (8 and 5) copies of Skylanders: Giants for Christmas. All 3 of them love it. To the tune of my son spending some of the money he received for Christmas on a couple of Skylanders t-shirts. He's also planning on saving up his allowance so he can by more Skylanders figures.
At present, we only have the 3 figures that come with the game. It's not a game I would play on my own (unlike the various Lego games) but it's entertaining enough to play co-op with my son. We've been mostly trading off playing Tree Rex and Cynder (a treant and a dragon being much cooler than a wingless hawkman wielding a giant vacuum cleaner). At 5, the strategy in Skystones (the in-game "card" game) is a little over his head yet, but otherwise he doesn't have much problem when he plays on his own, beyond wanting to spend money on random stuff in the shops.

Some people enjoy it.
Me: With what they did to spyro, I want to avoid it like the plague.
What happened with Spyro? I didn't realize they were related. I'm kind of new to the whole video game thing. I have played Oblivion. getting ready to start Skyrim and very interested in Star Wars Old Republic.

Can't speak to what they 'did' to Spyro, however the first series of the Game was called Spyro's Adventures & Spyro is an available character in the game.

Old Spyro on the left, and New Spyro on the right.Marthian wrote:What happened with Spyro? I didn't realize they were related. I'm kind of new to the whole video game thing. I have played Oblivion. getting ready to start Skyrim and very interested in Star Wars Old Republic. Some people enjoy it.

I don't like what they did to spyro... Although that's probably my inner child speaking. I really loved the playstation one spyro games and how he looked back then. The new one is just awful.

Ah, that's what you meant. Ok, Yeah, I dealt with that personal reaction last year when Skylanders first came out so I don't even really take note anymore.
It didn't bother my son, so I didn't let it bother me. Of course, Spyro has gone through some notable visual changes through all the different incarnations, so one more is just, one more...

My 6 year old daughter loves it. She's not very good at it and just starts over when it gets tough. She spends almost as much time playing with the figurines as she does playing the game.
The co-op mode is pretty fun but gets a bit old after you've finished the game once. We own Giants but have not played it yet. Stealth Elf and Landshark are probably my two favorite.

I want to try Pop Fizz and Eye Brawl.

One frustrating thing I've discovered about the game is the tethering between the two characters in co-op. The limit on the distance between the two characters is actually shorter than the length of certain trap zones, meaning if both players aren't completely in synch on the timing of navigating the trap, the slower one inevitably ends up dragging the faster one back into the trap. Add that to the fact that some of the traps teleport both characters back to the beginning if either of them take damage (I'm not sure if this is by design or a side effect of the knockback from the trap combined with the game's tendency to teleport that characters to the same location if the tether distance is exceeded and one is moving quickly) the end result is a lot of hair-pulling.
