For Fun, How Would You Build This Portrait?

Advice

I found this awesome looking portrait and I thought it would be fun to see how you all would build her?

female human barbarian. With either a generic longsword or maybe a falcata. Not too hard really.

Lantern Lodge

id say barb, fighter, or ranger.

Lantern Lodge

Ranger because it looks like she is holding reigns connected to animal companion. Fighter because of gladiators since she kinda of has that vibe about her. Barb because of the bone leather armor.

Just curious, the portrait caught my fancy as something that would be fun to use as a portrait to build a character around. I was thinking some sort of pit fighter type gladiator.

My wife actually found and used that portrait for a Half-Elf Rogue that she ran in a Dark Sun Campaign a number of months back. I wound up 'shopping in another sword and some ears for her, on it. Came out really nice.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Rogue/Barbarian. She's stealing your pants and killing you at the same time.

I don't know why, but my first thought on seeing it was a desert dwelling Druid.

Wow, the forum was annoying yesterday!

So to me she looks like she's wearing Bone armor, giving an Intimidating Glare! So to make that armor less useless, it makes sense to make it with Darkleaf to increase the max dex bonus, and give her a high dex.

Her sword looks close enough to a scimitar that she could be a Dervish-Dancer, and going Urban Barbarian to boost Dex so she is able to hit the 24 she needs for a +7 for her armor.

That said, she does loose a bunch to DPR compared to most barbarians but...

When I looked into Intimidating glare i saw its a pre-rec for Dragon totem and when I looked over Dragon Resistance i wondered...

While raging, the barbarian gains resistanceto the energy type that is associated with her dragon totem—acid (black, copper, green), cold (silver, white), electricity (blue, bronze), or fire (brass, gold, red). This resistance equals double her current DR/— from her barbarian damage reduction class feature; this DR increases by 2 for each dragon totem rage power she possesses, including this one.

this increases a Barbarian's DR, so with Intimidating Glare, Animal Fury, Dragon Totem, Dragon Resistances, and Dragon Wings as an Invulnerable rager the barb rolls around with DR 11/- at 10.

not at all optimal i'll admit, but kinda cool. Give her the Stalwart chain, and when she fights defensively at level 12 fun enemy to throw at the players cause they have to break 16 damage to to touch her, and just align her Dragon type to the Blaster's favored element. =P

Ranger (Horse Lord)
or
Barbarian (Mounted Fury)

This build uses no special items with the exception of the Darkleaf Studded Leather. Stats would be further improved with the addition of +Dex/Con belt, magical weapons, magical armor, etc. Feel free to add what you see fit.

to make a viable Lv1 up build, I'd go for Finesse Dervish both at level 1. Cause Derfish lets her add Dex to Scimitar attack and damage, while Focus is just a +1.

I like going Crane as opposed to Stalwart, forgot how much i like that tree. I'd almost say to drop Weap Focus till after getting Riposte at 9th, since an extra AoO and decreasing the penalty for fighting defensively would more than balance out the gains of the +1 that Weap focus offers.

Her AC is actually rather good for a Barb and with the DR [Lv/2+2(totem feats)] she's rockin pretty impressive DR even without the Extra DR powers

You can't take dervish dance at level 1, as it requires 2 ranks in Preform (Dance). Your best bet is to have a shortsword or rapier.

Oh, Right! I totally forgot about that! Dang. Guess that has to wait till Lv3.

I do not think a level 1 character of any class can afford the invisible midriff armour that character is wearing. You will have to work up to that.

Her makeup suggests barbarian. But she could be a rogue from a barbarian tribe.

I think what she's wearing isn't armor at all. She is a half-elf sorceress.
Why a sorceress? It's clear she's got lots of charisma and she is wearing no armor.
Why Half-elf? She is a sorceress and she's wielding a martial weapon, how else would she be proficient with it?

I wanna know what that animal is she's standing beside.

But since we're on the subject of statting up pics, try this one on:

Unnamed Bad Guy

Am I the only one who feels like she's standing beside a dragon?

That second pic is a Barbarian/Ranger TWF'er. Those look like probably Scimitars, which aren't exactly ideal for TWF but this guy makes it work (somehow). He's mostly Strength based, using Ranger to get the feats he needs.

In fact, I think she's wearing bracers of armor!

The pic is Tyris Flare as designed for Beastrider.

Awful game, but nice designs. Having played the game, I'd say barbarian with elemental rage powers.

I think she is riding something and what she has in her hands are the reins. So, which keeping my former idea thaat she's a sorceress, you could build her as a sylvan sorceress with an AC she can ride.
