Tian Character ideas

Advice

From the far-reaching (Tea bending watersinger bards) to the stereotypical (tengu monks), I'm looking for Tian character ideas. Ninjas and samurais and geishas and monks and everything else... go!

Tea Benders... Wow... Last Airbender much...

Miyamoto Musashi-kensai based Samurai. No armour, Haramaki, or Silken Ceremonial Armour. TWF with a Katana & Wakazashi.

Hmm what exactly is it you are looking for.

Skin a Kitsune as a cat-person, take the Fox Shape and all the tail feats to make a nine-tailed cat.

Have you read the Undine Watersinger Archetype? Between them and the new Oread spells, you can make a semi-decent water or earth bender.

Just looking for ideas for a character or cohort, around level 9-11.

That is a nice concept...

A Kobold (skinned to look like a Chinese dragon descendant) Monk.

& yes I have read those. I even have a Watersinger in my current campaign.

What role do you want them to fill?

(sorry for rough writing, It's a bit late and I am quite tired)

Character concept:

Kadro is the bastard child of a wealthy human merchant, Armel, in Rahadoum. He was born out of wedlock by a geisha from Tian Xia and quickly abducted at a very young age by his wealthy father back to his home country. Kadro grew up with his Armel and Armel's wife (who he believed was his mother).

He shared none of the hobbies of his father and preferred reading to hunting and socializing. After Kadro made a bit of a "scene" at one of his father's social gatherings, Armel sent him to one of his old friends back in Tian Xia for discipline and to learn how to "be a man". Kadro was sent away at the age of 10 and stayed in Tian Xia for six years, training and learning how to handle a sword (something Armel believed was necessary for a real man to know)

Kadro did not take well to the relatively brutal treatment and harsh discipline, and while he relatively quickly learned how to handle weapons, he also became openly rebellious to his teacher. He was finally kicked out at the age of sixteen and decided to return to his home country, joining with a caravan across the Crown of the World. The caravan was ambushed and through a display of miraculous willpower, Kadro managed to survive and return safely to his home continent, though roughened up by the experience.

Back at his former home? Armel expected his son to learn social skills and discipline but what he got was an unruly wild teenager. Kadro was kicked out again.

Kadro is a twenty year old human barbarian (invulnerable rager). His weapon of choice is the nodachi. Because of his experiences crossing the crown of the world, Kadro is resistant to cold damage (invulnerable rager ability). His alignment is chaotic good or chaotic neutral. Possibly neutral good. He spent most of the time after being kicked out of his father's house on foot occasionally working as a mercenary.

Be a character that make use of "Qin-Gong" - aka "light(weight) skill", the ability to fly and glide effortlessly.
Combine this with a 1 handed sword and a swift fighting style to make a classical "hero" from some mountain fighting school.
AKA, a character out of a chinese martial arts tv show.

Start with a class that is great in acrobatics and see if you could incorporate fly into it as you level.
The monk class could work, but you will need to portray him more as a normal Tian person, in terms of appearance. Avoid the classical monk appearance.

A "hero" is not a hermit and should be knowledgeable about healing, history, and may possess a certain "aura" that makes him stand out from a normal person. YET! They are also great at disguising themselves to avoid gathering attention. (aka, put some points in buff and intimidate.)
Finally, they should be great climbing and acrobatic skills, from years of physical training.

Ninjas, samurais, "shaolin-type" monks... are just too common.

This reminds me at how annoyed I am that ARG didn't give Kitsune Summoners anything, despite one of the most famous Kitsune in myth being mother of a summoner.

Meh, A Kitsune Summoner doesn't need anything special. Trust me. They synergize well already.

Hmm what about a Kitsune Summoner whose Eidolon appears like the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox (Naruto)?

It's more they don't even get an alternate favored class option.

@dunebugg: Surprisingly after looking at the spells and such. You can easily make any bender ala Avatar/Katara with Earthbenders being the hardest.

How about an Inquisitor of Shizuru who works for the Emperor of Minkai and likes to go undercover as a normal peasant to uncover corruption in outlying provinces.*

*And they always show their holy symbol/symbol of government authority at the same time every episode :)

wow...

Hmm, a bar room brawler/wrestler, Fighter with the unarmed archtype, who enjoys fighting and seeks the strongest opponents he can. Someone like Let from Rave Master.

If third party, make a warlord tactician, spend all the points on history and strategy, or instead of warlord go for a fate sorcerer tactician.

I'm a bit of a tea freak so I'll suggest:

A merchant, owns a tea plantation on a mountain off in the hinterlands and often takes his tea to markets.

An alchemist who grows tea and uses it in all his mutagens and potions.

a Synthesist modeled after the protagonist of this video clip complete with transformation trinket and katana. ham it up and steal the countdown and the description for the transformation sequence.

A Ninja with Bluff maxed out who pretends to be a blind masseuse?

@Shuriken_Nekogami: Heck, why not build an all Synthesist Super Sentai Team...

Ok i am going to have to do this...

How about a Samurai who wields a Naginata and a broken Katana (use stats for a wakazashi) who is searching for a legendary intelligent Katana.

Heck, Make the Katana's Personality a perverted Samurai ala Otone no Naisho.

You could try a Musket Master based on a Tanegashima wielding Ashigaru or Samurai.

Depending on the campaign you might be making your way to Alkenstar to learn their secrets, or making your way back to Tian Xia having already learned them.

@Torquar: The Musket Master idea is awesome. Maybe make it they learned the basics from a traveler from Alkenstar.

Shadow Lodge

Back when a glaive could be called a Naginata and a great sword could be called a no-dachi and a long sword could be called a katana (i.e. before ultimate combat) I had a 'samurai' paladin in PFS. This could be altered to fit now w/GM permission.

Shrine Maidens also work as martial classes, oracles etc.

Noh/or Kabuki Synthesist Summoner or Bard works, or Chinese Acrobat.

'Taoist' themed druid/hermit might work as well.

Hmm, an Archer Miko sounds fun.

So many possibilities!
