BTW, thanks to someone for the gift. It's much appreciated. : )

Sorry, guys, I'm hitting a bit of a busy patch. I'm hoping to update tonight, but not sure if I'll get a chance. May not be until Sunday, to be honest.

We'll still be here when you can post. The weekend can be a little rough for all of us to post, anyway.

I have been pouring through my old 3.0 and 3.5 books trying to figure out when and why I came up with the understanding that Charge Attacks did not provoke AoOs against the target. Every group I've ever played with ran it this way and I'm not sure if that was my influence or just some weird quirk of fate, but I can't find anything anywhere now that would suggest if you charge a creature with reach, you won't provoke an AoO.

I half vaguely recall a feat that I thought let you take AoOs vs people charging you, but I can't find it the PFSRD or the old d20SRD either.

I don't know why I thought what I thought, but all the evidence at this point suggests I was wrong. I'm now left wondering how many of my wonderful monsters and NPCs fell to PCs and their charge attacks when they could have at least gotten a blow in before going down. =\

That ogre spider is so freaking gross. shudder

Spiders in general are really creepy. It's just something about big spiders that freak me out. I'm glad that giant spiders only exist in the game world :)

Yes, because the existence of tarantulas that have more body hair than me and eat birds is bad enough.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I found an even COOLER spider monster I can't wait to trot out!

That said, Orin, you seem to be enjoying doing the kingdom building, so do you want to do month 13? Don't roll an event phase, though, please. I'll take care of that.

Friggin' spiders, man! SO GROSS!

Real-life Ogre Spider

Solifugid

Mott, you are NOT allowed to throw any soli-freaking-fugids at us. Holy crap what a creepy thing. *shudder*

Not one of these either!

We fought him before you and Kereek showed up, so no worries.

No, no I'm still worried. Ghosts-of-previously-vanquished-foes is a perfectly common trope in this kind of setting! Friggin' spiders, man!

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Spider ghost? I'm intrigued... Please, go on...

retired

No! We just told our Undead-Whomper-of-a-Paladin to stay at home and be all kingly and stuff. I'm not saying anything more about ghosts of ogre spiders, or ghosts of crazy evil stabby druids, or ghosts of crazy evil stabby druids riding ghosts of ogre spiders. NO!

Spiders are GROSS is all I'm tryin' to say. G-R-O-S-S. YUCK.

I'm adding a couple NPC and a quest to the campaign tab. I still need to know what you want to do in terms of the kingdom phase before we move on. Orin, did you want to handle that? If not, I need someone to let me know if you want to annex any hexes, build anything, etc. etc.

Also, without Jon, did you want to change your watch order?

retired

It looks like the forum-fu was lost in the link under the quest spoiler =)

As for the watch order, Prazil can swap with Agnar if he'd prefer not to keep watch alone. Prazil can sit up with Spike and Fang and have a grand ol' time and not be constantly wondering if spiders were about to burst from his watch-mate's mouth at any given moment. =P

Orin can stand two watches if necessary. I'll get another month up later today

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Thanks; fixing it now.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Next step is basically up to you. I'll write up Jon's reaction to the trolls and sum up the month for your kingdom once you decide what you want to do in terms of that. After that, I assume you'll want to go out exploring again, so you'll need to decide where to go. You have the treasure map, or can go off in another direction should you so choose.

HP 76/76, AC 21, T 14, FF 18, F+5, R+7, W+8, Perc +12, Init +7

I would vote for the treasure map, since we have a pretty good map of the hexes around our lands for now. So, let's do the treasure map, then hex-plore some more!

Sorry everyone, I forgot my daughter's school had a fund raiser last night and I didn't get a chance to work on Month 13. Before I sit down tonight is there anything we would like to build in the city? Right now all we have is a smith and a store. I would like to build an inn or tavern next and annex another hex if possible.
In retrospect building the castle in the first month really killed our finances, my RL group din't build theirs until the end of the first year (but live and learn).

Map of Thronehold

Map of Hartsland

I say we backtrack southwest to the hex east of Thronehold (F-7) head east and loop around west back to the city.

retired

I just noticed that this presitge class specifically allows triceratopses! lol! I dunno... I might have to do it!

Re: Treasure Map - yes! Let's follow it! To Treasure!

Re: Buildings in the City - I'm not positive if there are specific benefits to a particular building, but I think a Shop would be a good idea. A full blown market looks like it will be prohibitively expensive for quite some time. And I'm down with annexing another hex. If we start annexing northward, could we establish roads and a trade route with Fort Kazmir?

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Orin, I'm getting errors on your links. I see them for a second and then they blank out, so I'm a little confused about where you want to go.

Also, do you want to hexplore on your way to the treasure map's location?

And finally, you'll either have to go north, to cross the river, or book passage (which you can do; it'll just cost a little gold). Unless you force someone to take you across.

HP 76/76, AC 21, T 14, FF 18, F+5, R+7, W+8, Perc +12, Init +7

Orin: I think a bakery and another house or tavern would be best. Or a brewery, alternatively. If we're annexing hexes, F-5 seems logical. Or F-4 if our aim is to create another town in Fort Kazimir's square. But I leave it to your judgement. I trust you!

Prazil: YES. You must take that prestige class. It was made for Prazil.

I could do with the F-7 explore, then off to TREASURE! Hoorah!

Is anyone else experiencing difficulty with the maps? I take it by James' response that he can see them. I was thinking of annexing hex F-4 first then E-3 and finally E-2 and Fort Kazimir.

I get the same problem, Mott, but only in Internet Explorer; Chrome likes them fine.

HP 76/76, AC 21, T 14, FF 18, F+5, R+7, W+8, Perc +12, Init +7

Firefox is what I use and it takes me to the images just fine.

Orin, that sounds like a fine plan. We can fill in the rest of the hexes in between later. Plus, Prazil gets his Radish Patch.

Male Human (Ulfen) Cleric 10

Maps work fine for me. Firefox for the win.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I'm using Explorer at work. Firefox does seem to work fine. Will try to update later tonight.

So sounds like you want to explore the two hexes to the east -- including the treasure map -- and then loop southwest down toward Candlemere Tower.

retired

Sounds right. Meanwhile, our hex annexations should be stretching northward toward Fort Kazmir?

Don't have any oppinions about the kingdom building. Going to the haunted mine sounds good. Treshiell wants to meet the ghost.

I don't know how much I will be able to post during the easter holiday, so as a general rule of thumb: DM Treshiell if she's holding up the game.

Thanks, Patrik. I was just getting ready to actually post something about how I'd like to try to get our posting rates up. I feel like the kobolds are posting a lot more than our humans and half-elf. If you think you're going to be away a bit, please let us know.

Thanks.

This has nothing to do with a secret koboldian plan to take over the world. Nothing to do with it at all. Nope. Not a bit.

Not sure how much my posting rate will be over the next few days. It's possible I'll still get in my usual updates, but I may not. Expect normal service (if it's interrupted) to resume Sunday evening, I think.

No problem, Mott. I'll be out of town at my in-laws all weekend. Thankfully we bought them satellite internet (it's only 1.5 meg, but it beat dial up all to Hell) for Christmas and we're bringing down a wireless router and my laptop so I should be able to keep up if anything important should pop up.

Although, if it were a horse with scaly, armor-like skin and a trio of horns sprouting from its head - that'd be a decidedly less silly horse and one Prazil would likely be content to ride. =)

This is an awesome idea though and I completely endorse the idea of someone cooking up a stronger version of the spell called enlarge monster and then casting it on Spike. Often.

Hmm. Let me look at it a bit, but I can't see why you couldn't cast enlarge monster as a third-level spell (two higher than enlarge person, just has hold monster is two levels higher than hold person)...

HP 76/76, AC 21, T 14, FF 18, F+5, R+7, W+8, Perc +12, Init +7

There is Animal Growth at 5th level, but Enlarge Animal sounds like it would bridge the gap as a 3rd level spell.

retired

Mmmmm. Animal Growth. That's a good one. It grants significantly better bonuses from the embiggening, and yeah - we need that spell =) With all the animal companions in this group, we could get some decent mileage out of it.

Hey if the DM wants to let me skip ahead to 10-12th level, I'm game!
