Numeria... when?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hi all, ever since I read a blog from James Slutter last month saying that a Numeria AP was on its way I've been excited... since then I havent heard or thought about it much.

With the ARG coming out, and reading over the "half-construct" and construct racial rules... it got me thinking about Numeria again...

heres what James said on his blog BTW

Please expand on Numeria. I don't know how much power you have, but it'd be really great if you could bring that up at a meeting or something. That is my single favorite place in Golarion, I'm not aware of any books that expand upon what's written in the Inner Sea World Guide about it.

EDIT: Also, please put a stat block on that giant mechanical minigun-wielding scorpion that's on the Numeria page of the ISWG.

Can do! And actually, the thing with Numeria isn't that we don't want to play with it--it's that we all want to play with it so much that we want to make sure we do it right. :) In any case, it's very much a cornerstone of our Big Plans For Things To Come....

so... Numeria is a cornerstone of Paizo's big plans for things to come... I'm not sure exactly what that means but I shure would like to hear about an AP release date or at least a hinting of what the AP will be like...

Scarab Sages

Not sure if it will be a 'Numeria AP' ('the future' could be next year or even the year after that), but the next APs are, if tradition is followed, announced at PaizoCon and GenCon. It is highly unlikely that you will hear an official answer about any of the next two APs before that and any official word about later APs at all.

Scarab Sages

Also note that the name is Sutter and 'Slutter' is a typo that makes his name sound very, very wrong ;-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Inner Sea Bestiary has at least one numerian goody. If you search for "mecha scorpion vs barbarian", you will get an idea of it.

Liberty's Edge

The top three contendors for next AP seem to be Numeria, Worldwound and Irrisen, I would be surprised though if we get two northern APs back to back.

Is there some chance that by "big plans for things to come" he means Pathfinder Online?

Judging by recent product announcements, Numeria isn't it.

I heard James Jacobs was terrified of numeria AP

Not exactly.

@cheapy there was a different post where he wanted to but was afraid the fanboys would be all upset even if the next adventure path was all dragons and dungeons.

here:

The thing with a Numeria AP is that it'd turn off a lot of players, I fear... which is a damn shame. Worse, though, is my fear that even if we do 10 "classic" fantasy APs and then on 11 we do a Numeria with promises to return to the classic model with number 12 that there'll be a mass freak out and subscription bailout and scorched earth. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong. But nevertheless... it's gonna be a long while before we get to Numeria in Pathfinder Adventure Path.

We'll just have to capture him at GenCon and use liquor to force a written commitment to a Numeria AP.

I'd actually be fine if they didn't give us an AP on Numeria in the near future, in fact. I would, however, love it if they gave us some serious support material for the place, which it seems they're in the works of doing (with a novel published that gives info about the place, as well as a bestiary that will have a few Numerian monsters!). Having a CS book on the region would be incredibly nice too, though!

I still have other APs that I'd like to see before this one, admittedly.

all I want is a little more background info, a few pages or more... who makes up the technic league, who are the major players and motivations? how is the city made up, what is law enforcement like (just how do the technic league patrol the silver mount?)

I read that the silvermount pathfinder lodge was destroyed and any pathfinders caught searching the silvermount are to be hanged but other than this little snippit not much else... for example...

from a website on ancient roman myth---

Numerius, a praenomen among the Romans of rather rare occurrence. M. Varro says that this praenomen was given to those who were born quickly; and that women in childbirth were accustomed to pray to a goddess Numeria, who must have been a deity of some importance, as the pontifex mentioned her in the ancient prayers (Var. Frtgm, p. 319, Bipont.; camp. Hartung, Die Religion der Römer, vol. ii. p. 240). As a Roman praenomen the feminine Numeria could not be used any more than Marca (Varr. L. L. ix. 55, ed. Müller).

That's what they said about Jade Regent being to "Asian", and Skulls and Shackles being too "Piratey" yet I don't see a mass exodus. I think things just get blown up more than they really all.

I would love two products for Numeria. A book about its land and people, the kellids who are kept in a nomadic state and the way they see the league and the automatons that came from the ruins. The other book would be Secrets of the Technic League, it would detail the class roles in the technic league, simple tech many members might have obtained, the rules of the league, and rules to build or repair Automatons like the Gearmen or the other mechanical creatures wandering the waste. This would give players what they want, a book on numeria people and culture and another book to detail the League and its inner workings. Both books would include decent archetypes and spells and even 'magic' items similar to the ones in Red Redoubt. I would buy both books when they come out, anything to deal with Numeria is interesting to me. Possibly even explain the interactions with other races and culture, possibly even planets. What happens when a technic adept encounters a Aballonian, what happens when they encounter a Verces Aethership and its crew of augmented humanoids?

Distant Worlds was one of their fastest selling Campaign Setting Books, which might give them a bit more confidence to tackle a Numeria AP (although my guess would be still not for a couple of AP cycles).

I recall James also mentioning that at this point in time, he actually at this point suspects there'd be a net gain in subscribers.

Not to mention that there seems to have been a pretty favorable opinion of a Numeria style AP in the forums here.

Look to the Inner Sea Bestiary, my friend! Due out in October I believe. And, yes, it has been mentioned a few times that the giant robotic scorpion is indeed in there! ;)

YAY!!! The Inner Sea Bestiary is out and the Annihilator is has full stats! I have yet to find the occasion, but I REALLY want to test this bad hunk of murderous metal against my players, and I hope with this release other players may loose some of their phobia about Robots in their Golemworks.

Wow, serious threadomancy. But I'm glad, because I really want an AP or big adventure into the Silver Mountain. A la Expedition to the Barrier Peaks.
