End of February is a bit early for Paizo to announce the request for GenCon volunteers.
2011: Call went out April 29 here
2010: Call went out March 19 here
2009: Call went out April 16 here
2008: Call went out June 18 here
So I don't really expect any announcement till mid-March at the earliest.
That said, Doug knows much more that I.

IMO a much more efficient terminator style campaign manager. He seems to get stuff done, and be damned those who get in his way!
Oh, and my loving wife pointed out that her birthday falls during Gencon this year, and that all kinds of hell would be paid if I even dared think about missing her birthday for this convention. *cries himself to sleep every night till 2013*

Well, you're not going be missing her birthday and getting into trouble if she's there with you in a nice hotel with a little extra spending money. Now if her birthday is the night of the special, you're dead either way.

Yea, I tried the whole trip to Indianapolis thing...problem is she isn't dumb nor is she a "shopper" she carefully calculates what she's looking for and orders it online. So...yea, I don't know how I'm swinging a trip to Gencon this year. I'll see if any more begging and pleading will work. I don't want this to develop into couples therapy though. :P

I can empathize...a good friend of mine had to skip Origins for three or four years, because when they moved it from early July to late June, it wound up on top of his anniversary, and his non-gamer wife would not have been amused.
Now that Origins is in early June (at least for the next couple of years), he's free to go again.
Alas, it looks like GenCon will be at about that same time of August for the next three years:

My wife is sooo not a gamer, and Her Birthday is during PaizoCon this year so I was not planning on going.
Instead I was planning on taking her on a trip home to Turkey.
Here is the important part, I remember that I planed on taking her on a trip to Turkey during PaizoCon But I forgot the reason why...
So anyway just before the tickets go on sale I mention to my wife I won't be going this year because I was planning a trip to Turkey for us, she said don't worry she would rather go in December and for me to buy the tickets for PaizoCon and she would pay for the trip there!
I grabbed at it and bought the tickets and plane tickets all paid by my Wife.
Then 2 weeks later it came up in conversation the actual dates of the Convention and she was like, "you do know that is my birthday right?" I was like "Doh! but...but... you said I could go, and we bought the tickets *i.e. she bought the tickets* already"
She gave me an interesting stare *you married guys know that stare* and just said "I know"...
Well I am going to PaizoCon!!! ;)

My buddies wife to be is having a gamer style marriage ceremony down there for her southern friends. She apparently used to have a big holding according to her in the OP scene back in LG. Valerie Hampton if you're curious. I'm the best man, so I'm headed down there for that one gig, and essentially free to explore Dragon*con otherwise.

Make sure to keep track of PFS being run there. We're going to have a big presence again.
My buddy is trying to convince me not to volunteer to GM every slot I'm free for. He wants to actually play beside me, not across from me. He rarely gets that opportunity since I'm normally his GM.

Oh, I wasn't expecting GMs, we need the players too :)
Plus I wouldn't ever want to put GMing at Dragon*Con at a visitor. Just ask Doug and Kyle, I think it scared them away a year and a half ago.
Actually it was the 4 hours slots with no time in between. I'd come back if it were reduced to 3 slots a day, 5 hours each.
|
I actually prefer GMing...I spend most of my time doing it. Playing as a player feels unnatural to me. It'd also be nice to GM for a crowd I don't normally see. I always learn so much at unfamiliar cons.
I don't think I'll sign up for the full blown schedule, but I think I would definitely love to GM a slot a day or something.

I need to cover up my 'Single Guy' Memories of Dragon*Con with 'Married Guy' Memories of Dragon*Con so most likely I will be going there again, just not this year.
