Hello recently I have just wanted a change of pace from pathfinder and my brother got me slightly interested in 4E, would anyone be willing to host a 4e game thread you would already have 2 experienced online players at least with pathfinder, also others are welcome to join as well
I'm looking to play a warlord and him a fighter but we can change if needed anyways hope to hear from others soon
Thanks
I would be interested to join this one too as a player.
Also, if until the end of my exams ( a couple of weeks ) nobody takes this up, pm me Raventhorn and I might DM it.
lol well for one how do you pm people on this lol but second thanks for responding and hopefully we will get more people and a gm but if not then least we got a gm tentatively
thanks Chado
Actually, you could say what you expect from a campaign. That's usually the first thing I ask my players.
Not a clue! Brother only has players handbook ver 1 and martial book so kinda limited in choices and such so really would just let the gm choose what they felt like though im more drawn to traditional save the medieval realm stuff lol
Hello hello people still out there?
I run three 4e adventures on these boards. I don't have any spaces in any of those games at the moment - and wouldn't in any case suggest you start at mid-paragon for your first 4e outing.
If you like, I can run a one-shot for you, your brother and Chado.
I think your suggestion of a small outing is the best and I would never suggest jumping in just to wet my feet lol dont like slowing people down :)
Could I join in as a player? I've played 4e before but not in a while as the majority of my current gaming group favours pathfinder.
You're welcome :)
If you're looking at classical balance, then you have a leader and a defender. Striker and controller are up for grabs.
Personally, I'm not fussed what you play. I'd rather you had characters you enjoyed, but there's no denying that a decent balance can help.
Raventhorn expressed a preference for traditional fantasy - does that suit everyone?
I wouldn't mind a stab, Rosey, if you have room. Unless you are starting very soon, as I'm on holiday for a week starting Sunday - don't want to hold things up.
Go for it. By the time we've got races, classes and whatnot sorted and I have an adventure fixed, it will be end of next week before we get going.
Roster looks like this:
Raventhorn
Raventhorn's brother
Chado
Kip48
Aubrey
I'm happy with that, but would probably take another.
1st level pcs folks and I'll open up a proper discussion thread tomorrow morning.
Well brother has already decided to make human fighter and Im going with human resourceful warlord
welcome everyone!
Rosey, If you want another, especially for a quick run for those interested in learning the game/edition, I wouldn't mind joining to help where I can. I like introducing people to systems I enjoy.
Cool. What sources can we use for character creation? Could we use the Phb2 and 3 or did you want to stick with Phb1 for simplicity and so everyone has the same access to options?
Id prefer we stuck to one just cause I have no idea what content the others have sorry :(
(I didnt even know there was other players handbooks) hehe
@Aardvark, you're welcome.
@Raventhorn - there are another two players handbooks which open up different power sources and character/race options. If you enjoy 4e, you will find that a DDI subscription is a very good investment as you can use the online Character Builder. That gives you access to all the published material in one easy swoop.
For this outing, we'll stick to core races and classes.
I'll run one of the first level Chaos Scar adventures (there are several).
Rosey, I will wait until all the new players make what they want to play, and then I will cover down for any role that isn't represented.
Wanting to fill a vacant roll but also wanting to play a two handed sword swinging style of character I'm wondering if the Divine power 1 Ardent Paladin build would be allowed? (filling the striker role.) If not maybe a an Avenging Paladin type build would do?
@Kip84, if you can stick to PHB1 only it would be simpler. How about a twin-bladed ranger?
A great-weapon fighter is also a decent choice.
Are we able to use additional powers from other sources which are on the CB?
Since we lack a controller I'll play the wizard.
Well, we still haven't heard from Chado yet.
@Aubrey - see if you can stick to the basic powers if you can. If there's something you really crave, let me know.
Note that Magic Missile is the errata-ed auto hit version.
I that case I'll change up my mind completely and go warlock.
Maybe it's the whiskey talking, but this kind of helpful inclusiveness and enthusiasm is what I love about the Paizo forums. Have a great game guys!
And here is your discussion thread. Head on over :)
@Kip84 - warlocks rock. They are my favourite class.
We have six at the moment, but you are welcome to an alternate slot. If anyone has to pull out, you are in.
I'm a little bit unhappy with the PHB-only rule. I appreciate that Raventhorn doesn't have anything else but I do, and the classes are reasonably well-balanced across all the supplements - plus if you want to be a controller in the PHB, you are looking at being a wizard only, whereas I quite fancied being a Protector Druid or maybe using some of the non-PHB wizad powers. What I choose shouldn't really impact on another player provided the roles are reasonably covered off - he only really has his own character to worry about.
Aubrey - see update on discussion thread.
If you need a second alternate, I would be grateful for the consideration. :)
Thanks.
Chado? Still interested? If so, there is a discussion thread up - here.
Windstar and DSX, you are alternates. Feel free to dip into the discussion thread and see how things are going.
No sign of Chado for a week.
If Windstar and DSX want in, go for it. Chado, if you re-surface and want to play, I'll take you as well.
