After Monk, then what?

Advice

I'm thinking about taking on a prestige class after Monk 11 (right now Monk 7/Rogue 1). He's a dwarf with feats like Boar Style, has sneak attack, and generally deals a truckload of damage per round, but his defense is lacking. He's basically a glass cannon: puts it out but can't take it.

Any ideas for a class dip or prestige dip? His stats are freakishly high except for Charisma (12), so he would qualfy for many things.

Also, I need a recommendation for my next level feat: Medusa's Wrath or Crushing Blow?

If you're an unarmed monk, Medusa's Wrath is the choice to go, easily. Team up with a caster to set the conditions then whale on the poor dumb schmuck who got in your way. Stunning fist or teaming up with the party caster is the easiest way to get it off.

If you still want crushing blow, as it is certainly not a bad feat if yo have "freakishly high" stats. But if your wisdom modifier is under 4, I'd stick with Medusa's Wrath for sure.

Yep, that's what I was leaning towards. Any recs for class dips?

Easy part first: Medusa's Wrath. Crushing Blow suffers from the fact that it requires a full-round action, and (I think) you still give them a save to avoid it. If you fail with a Stunning Blow to set up Medusa's Wrath, at least you still get all your other attacks. Plus, you can take advantage of whatever conditions other party members are throwing out there.

As for other classes, have you considered Barbarian? A d12 and extra rage constitution can help you survive a bit longer, though Raging Vitality will be a must. If you don't want to have to change your alignment to qualify, Stalwart Defender could be an interesting option. You would probably need a couple levels of Fighter or Ranger to qualify, and the lack of mobility might mess up your preferred tactics, but it is an option to consider.

Well you can continue to take rogue. I know this might not be the optimal choice but you can add some versatility. The are some rogue talents that actually powered on Ki, like the Invincibility trick or the shuriken flurry...

Silver Crusade

A few ninja levels maybe, they have a ki pool off Charisma. Some neat defensive stuff like shadow clone (mirror image). The sneak attack will stack with your current d6.

Alchemist might have some nice stuff with mutagen.

can't be a ninja and a rogue. "same" class. its one or the other (unless the dm will let him re-spec his rogue level into ninja)

Would the psionics supplement be ok? Because it has a pretty decent monk PrC right here.

Ah, I knew that but I always forget.

Scarab Sages

How about Empyreal (WIS-based) Sorcerer? You could then buff yourself with things like Mage Armor or Shield.

EDIT: Would alignment restrictions come into play if you dip into barbarian?

Yeah, the barbarian dip would be an alignment problem. Where can I find the Empyreal? That sounds VERY interesting!

its wildblooded(archetype) celestial bloodline

That is an EXCELLENT option. It also gets closer to the supernatural powers of monks in fantasy play.
