So I was re-watching some Gentleman Gamer and decided I wanna do the same... BG2 'Inspired' type of game as a PBP (can't find an open one to play in). Keep in mind I'd only be starting in the same place as the game but would likely start out lower powered (lv 1/2) and loinclothed in a cage.
Probably use only races/classes from the core book (any archetypes though cause they're awesome, or class/race OPTIONS from apg, etc.)
Your character's backstory can be brief (one or two paragraphs) but try to include one enemy and one ally from your past in the realms somewhere. Keep in mind you can be of any core player race/class ass Bhaal wasn't too picky..
A basic knowledge of the Realms would be preferable - every character will have a free rank of Knowledge: Religion, Local and Geography as I think they should in most settings.
Any interest?!

I will post a small backstory with some campaign traits and creation rules either later today or tomorrow - All questions are basically answered as a YES.
Are you saying we are all children of Bhaal? And can these foes/allies be characters from the game?
The answer to the first part is a maybe, maybe some, maybe all, maybe one, maybe none. The second a yes though if they were prisoners in the game they may be damaged or dead as I am going to start out at lv 2 instead of.. I think it was 7th or somesuch.
Would the game take place just after the games? What events from the Realmslore would be incorporated or ignored (Like the Spellplague, for example)
This will be an alternative to the beginning of the game - instead of the character who is in the cage in the game, it will be you guys. I do not like the 4th edition realms - the previous edition changes weren't as drastic.. so the events will take place starting on the same timeline as the opening scene of the game.
Can we use the magus as a wizard archetype? You said corebook only, but i always wanted to try the magus, and elven bladesingers are common in the realms.
Yes you can use a magus I suppose - I read up on it in the srd so it's no biggie.
Deities and domains will only need as much work as is necessary if someone chooses a faithful (which someone should because Realmspriests are awesome)
And Pixel, that's fine you don't need to know because I can use knowledge skills to give you the info as it comes.

Actually I would run it non-evils only, as I usually run all of my games. Well I guess I opened the door with the magus thing... since it's low level I guess it doesn't matter - play any classes you like but core book races only (original seven) and I run my half orcs a bit differently - +2str/+2wis/-2 to either int or cha

I'll think of a female elf magus.
Some questions:
1) char creation rules? points or dice?, traits? equipment?(i know we should start mostly naked and in a cage, but during the creation process we have the wealth of a lvl 2 char to spend, so how to spend it? or you will give us the stuff afterwards?)
2)how will you choose the PCs ? first come first served? by decision after looking all the applications? or randomly?
edit: i know many asked about char creation rules, anyway my question about wealth and equip remains

15 point buy
MAX hp for BOTH levels
Standard 2nd level equipment you had at time of abduction (worn only)
As stated earlier: non-evil only
Any of the seven core races are available
Any classes available on the SRD
I'll say one trait for now and then I'll 'gift' each of you a random/campaign trait of my own design
Each character will have one rank in each of the following knowledge skills for free: Religion, Local and Geography.
Knowledge of The Realms will help but is not necessary - if you have no earthly idea, say you were accosted while in Waterdeep (the largest city) and woke up in your current predicament (in a cage in a dank dark lab)
Continue asking questions if you have them.
EDIT - the first come first served rule seems good - party will be 5 only
I want some background with the one enemy/one ally - they can be npcs from the game or ones you create.

Almost done with the stats thing, won't take long to have a back story.
A question about languages. In the realms there are no "common" and such, as they are tied to regions, so how to be sure all the PC can talk to each other freely? For example, my elven girl is going to come from Silverymoon in the north (near Waterdeep)and the most common languages there are Chondath and Illusk, then race languages.
So for example she is going to be fluent in Elven,Illusk and Orcish or Elven,Chondath ans Giants.

Ok, here's my character, a Half Orc Monk with the Sacred Mountain archetype. Since I don't know about the setting, I figured out that I could make him have amnesia; this way he will have to learn about the world around him (and I will too). The only things he remembers are his name, that he comes from the eastern regions, and that he took a vow of poverty to atone for something bad he did, but he doesn't remember what. His possessions are his clothes and a magic belt.

This is my elven magus (i know, i almost exclusively play female PCs hope that is no bother).
Stats are complete except for languages and memorized spells.
For the backstory have to decide yet, but roughly she left Silverymoon to search for her mentor (male elf wizard) and former lover. She discovers that a rival of hers (rival in scholarship) is involved and that she had to go in Waterdeep to learn more....but once there she is abducted.

Shaman - I don't so much like the restriction of needing to have a nature patron for ranger/druid stuff so it's up to you - though most every character in Faerun has a patron, I've never ruled that they must pray to a specific god in order to get their powers.
As for common - we'll rule for simplicity that 'common' is a melting pot of all the different regional human languages and whomever speaks one dialect can get by with the others.

Gandal |

As for table 12-4 corebook page 399 i used 1000gp, think that is the table to look at.
edit:always about languages,we can assume that Chondatan can be used as Common, it is used almost in every main region and pratically everywhere along the Sword Coast.
double edit: of course i want the Flail of Ages :)

I'm trying to complete a backstory, but there are a lot of details i just can't made my mind up on.
The enemy (undecided, probably a female caster of some sort):Someone is after some hidden knowledge of Talandleara's lover and teacher and that is the real reason of their visits to the Host tower, only they don't know. This someone can be the enemy from the start of the paragraph or someone to whom she is related who ordered the abduction of Talandleara's lover (you may even say that this is a plot of a vampire cult so to lead the story to Bodhi, of course i hope not) :)
Hope that is enough for you to work upon.
