"Wherever I have been - I am back! - Gandalf the Grey
Okay – so here’s what’s what for the game at this time.
We are now going to move forward quickly – a “Fast Forward”.
Each month you roll a check to find out if you succeed at gaining new BP. If you succeed the check, you gain the appropriate BP to use on your Barony – and can expand your barony in a way that gives you a better chance of success next round/month by using it to build new buildings.
Put these rolls – and what you decide to do with the successes and BP on your Barony’s Discussion Thread
At the same time – you will not be “penalized” for failing the check – except in one way. Each time you fail the check – the nation grows smaller – the hexes that your nation own currently will recede to a more manageable level.
During this time, your barony is growing – each time you earn BP you get to use them on new buildings which allow you to make it easier on your barony’s success rate next turn. There is no penalty!
What about social RP?
Each month that will happen – but it will happen “summed up” on your “main thread” of the barony. You’ll meet new people, make new allies, post plans and arrangements, and – as a whole – become more powerful as a baron.
During this time – even though it is an entire month – a lot of things will be summed up quickly to help forward the plot. There will be hard answers on direct questions for you, which you won’t need to roll for. To get these answers will take time – generally an entire week – you have four weeks a month – and therefore have 4 opportunities for your people to have a collective “Take 20” on Diplomacy rolls – Knowledge Rolls – or “Profession Rolls” (generally the last part is to recruit troops, or organize units).
Even with a “Taking 20” – you still won’t do very good at first – because there is so much ground to cover – but that is expected. The DC is out the roof for the beginning to encourage you to have as much flexibility as you want. Direct questions get direct answers – but those answers will unlock more answers – and so on; so if you say, for example “What’s up with the spider cave” – you tell me what knowledge you want, what your total would be via “Take 20” – and I’ll factor in the DC – and you’ll get the answer. But you may get a better answer if you ask it more then once, because of course this suggests you are putting the whole set of resources in your barony into finding that out.
The same is true of any task – if Kae wants to build an army – he may wish to use “Profession: Soldier” – to recruit troops, and he may find that is not very good. He may say “Well – what if I had “Profession: Public Relations Officer” or something like that?”.
I would applaud him for his creativity – his DC would drop – and men would flock to his banner faster then they would to a simple soldier. Of course – that would only happen for one week – unless he kept using it to improve things.
To sum up –
The only rolls you’ll make is for your BP – the DC is very high – but you suffer no penalty for failing – and you can decrease the DC by building new things. Remember, too – you can impose 10% tax on people per month – for every 1% over that – add +1 to your DC for BP rolls. For every -1% under that, lower your DC by 1. At the least – you can earn money by taxes – and use that as a surefire way to generate BP to help lower your DC.
So – it is the first month – any questions? By the way – you are currently back in the Capital.

So when you say we're currently back in the capital, does that mean the party who went to the Spider's Nest in search of Mak Morn and Ironhorse? If so, can you provide a summary of what transpired, if we were able to remove both bodies and return them to the capital with us? It would help with the social rp with those at the Spider's Nest and Ariarh, Patty Ironhorse etc. How long have they been dead? Would Ariarh be able to cast Reincarnate on them (with Patty Ironhorse's permission of course, as she may simply want her husband buried rather than returned in another/new body)?
Thanks, Dain.

The steps are:
1) Roll economy
2) post actions
---We receive 4 skill checks a month (1/week) to ask questions or do things with the barony. take a look at my thread for some examples Kae's discussion
then you determine your tax-rate, throwing the book rules out the window for now, to generate more coin bayond BP.
don't worry about loyalty and stability for the first year.
then you can pick buildings to build

sorry, i was refering to the leadership bonus to your econ score. that is, the total bonuses that your council adds to economy. and as you don't need to worry about loyalty or stability, you can afford to toss Ruler and Spymaster to boost econ, obviously.
This is totally unrelated to you r"Leadership" score via the feat. my B. I was jsut waying that you only use the score from your council, as you have no buildings yet, nor do you use edicts as of yet...

A general message for all my fellow players: I will have both nieces for the whole weekend as well as attending University open days (on my Saturday - tomorrow) with the boy. Posting over the next two days will be pretty much non-existent from me and I apologise for that, but I will have my hands very full. I will catch up on my Sunday night (late, after I have returned the girls to my brother). Sorry for the disruption in play.

[Ooc] no worries. I'm pretty busy too, and have some ret-conning, and book-keeping to do. So I'm going to be slow on this game too. Takin my time getting back to this game so I don't burn out before we get started...

Hey Dain!
Is there a copy of our kingdom sheet? I think i remember working on updating it to include all our councelor decisions but ive re-organized my files, so i am not sure where it all is.
Mind letting me know? maybe sending out a new copy?

Good question - there indeed is - but it's being tweaked a bit.
I'm not entirely sure how things will work for your capital - but I know one thing - you won't get the natural 20's for your "Council Members", which is you guys ;)
Also - I will need votes from you guys to decide what you want to do with your BP for Saravale, though.
More on the sheet to come, though.

Well - I am eager to continue both this game; and the pirate game I am also playing.
This game can only continue with the help of my peeps here -
However - I fear that the pirate game will be "delayed" until sometime on Monday. Which is a long way away for me -
but for those of you who hunger for pirate booty now - I offer you at least this as a sop to your hunger:
Be Warned, Only for True Pirate Enthusiasts
Of course - as I have access to this option for my private use - it has gone a long way to allay the need I have to do more pre-eminent piraty things :)
But mainly, this comment allows me to post a fun toy that I have access which makes my day a little more amusing. Hoped it amused you all as well.

Misprint in Main Book
The main books says the following:
Barracks: +2 Defense, -1 Unrest - cost 12 BP
Watch Tower: +1 Stability, +2 Defense, -1 Unrest - cost - 6 BP.
Waiph indicated in the Errata this was an error.
The bonuses do not change - but the cost does.
The cost for Barracks should be: 6 BP
The cost for Watch Tower should be: 12 BP
Naturally these costs are reduced with certain buildings - like a "town hall".
If you have already built one or the other - please make the adjustments to your BP now - you may have extra BP to spend if you have constructed Barracks.

Quick question for potential allies
If one of your allies has "favored enemy" and the favorite enemy is his own race - is that a penalty?
In other words - if Ironhorse were to have a second "favored enemy" - and it was human; are there alignment restrictions for that?
I think it used to be you couldn't pick a favorite enemy if it was your own race, unless you were evil - But I was double checking and I think they got rid of that rule.
Does anyone know for sure what's up?
Thanks!
