To clarify..I was wondering if they changed it from the Bestiary entry.

Tons of people went to gencon and played PFS there but rarely play at home. To them the boon is kind of worthless. Why not sell it for a little cash if you can?
I think it would be cool to award GMs a boon when they get a star. And when they get two stars they should get a boon plus 5 boons they have to give out as player rewards...
Reward the people who keep the system going.

Part of the idea was that people who may not have otherwise played will feel an incentive to create a new PC and get involved in their local area because they have a special boon their PC can use that others can't. Gamers like to be special, and sometimes knowing ahead of time you have something special makes you get involved when you otherwise wouldn't. Look at some of the DLC promotions in video games; those are huge draws to some games.

My original thought was more regarding places where there is no PFS. I think what you suggest is pretty clever.

I know what you mean. I played True Dungeon and got an item that can be used to make other more powerful items. I have neither the inclination, time, or desire to do that kind of thing (for TD). That kind of item isn't going to do me any good, but I could have come home and sold the token for $10-20 on Ebay. Instead I chose to trade it to a guy who gave me some intermediate tokens that will help me next year. I'm sure there are PF players like that too.

Hmm... I have the Water (Undine) one, pretty sure it is #9, which would make Air #6 probably.
I'll confirm when I get home.
Daigle: I agree that the Tengu one would have been one of my first choices. However, I am looking forward to sitting down to make my Aasimar monk and Undine cleric of Gozreh :)

#11: Extra Trait: You gain an extra trait from any legal source. This trait can not belong to the same type as one you already possess and you must bring a copy of its source to any session in which you play this character under the normal guidelines for using Additional Resources.
#13: Devilslayer: You gain a +1 bonus on all attack rolls made against creatures of the devil subtype. Additionally, you either gain Infernal as a bonus language or treat Knowledge (planes) as a class skill. Cross through the option you do not choose.
#15: Trained Eye: Your experience as a field agent in the Pathfinder Society has trained you to notice minute details. You gain a +2 bonus on all Perception checks.

I am assuming Demonslayer is the same as Devilslayer just different subtype and language

And you can never buy it again, a few of the vanities stack and you can get more than once, but this boon restricts you from doing that.

I received two boons while at GenCon, but as a relatively new player, I am unsure how to legally use them. Are there instructions somewhere on the message boards on how to properly implement boons for characters according to PFS standards?
Which boons are you talking about? I can give you more detailed response based on that.
The short version, however, is that you fill out the top part with your name, character name and character id/number then you carry these Chronicles as part of your normal Character Sheet/Chronicles from game to game. If it's a race boon, you'll have to start a 1st level character of that race (and whatever class you want to play), but filling it out and carrying it is the same.
Hope that helps, otherwise post more specific questions and I'll try and clear it up :)

You have answered my main question which is if they have to be used on brand-new characters (and one of the boons I received *is* the Tiefling racial boon). I also received the Eastern Exotic Weapon Proficiency... could I apply that to my existing Sorcerer character?
Thanks for the super-quick response!
PS- Since I am responding on this thread, just wanted to say while I sympathize with those people who feel it is unfair to be awarded these boons at conventions, I don't agree. I work very, very hard to be able to afford to go to the convention... I spend my valuable vacation time on going to GenCon... in short, I sacrifice in other areas of my life to be able to attend the convention. Getting a chance to win a reward is a perk for making the effort to be there. I *do* feel bad for folks (like Military personnel) who really can't make it there due to other obligations or things beyond their control, 'cause GenCon is a blast.

Yes, you may apply that to an existing character. Only the racial boons would require a new character to be started, any of the others could be applied to an existing.

I guess that, when its boiled down to simple terms, it comes down to this...
You paid money - you want a prize.
Apparently the blast value of attending GenCon is insufficient.
Asploding heads all around.

meanwhile the rest of us that couldn't afford it get to ... sit and wait and hope the advanced races guide has a little something for us in it, once we shell out 40$ to support a company that doesn't care about its subscriber base & current players.
WOTC, much as i hate them, still used a sort of rewards program to give back to its current subscribers and gms for its events. any plans to disseminate some boons through venture captains in the rest of the society?

For as much grief as I give Paizo, I still have to step in here to point out that WOTC gave out a lot of Gencon-Only, Origins-Only and DDExperience-Only prizes that could not be gained anywhere else.
It's not fair to compare Paizo to WOTC without recognizing that WOTC does the exact same thing.

There are currently plans to have boons appear at the various local cons throughout the year. When this begins, I don't know.
