Dervish Dance + Power Attack

It seems ok to me, as Dervish Dance doesn't make the scimitar light, it just allows the use of Weapon Finesse. I just wanted to make sure before I used it in a game.

You can use it.

But Power attack can be used with light weapons also. Just so you know.

Even if it did make the Scimitar light, what's that got to do with Power Attack? Why wouldn't they work together?

Are you asking about using both hands on the scimitar? You would get extra damage from power attack, but you will not be able to benefit from Dervish Dance and would be using Str instead of Dex for attack/damage.

Also, Dervish Dance doesn't let you use weapon finesse on the scimitar, it grants you an ability similar (yet better!) to finesse. Dex to attack and damage, while finesse is just to attack.

In any case only off-hand attacks and secondary natural attacks are subject to the 1/2 damage from power attack.

One-handed and light weapons get full damage.

What the others said.
In case the OP was thinking about using the feat piranha strike with dervish dance, sorry it can't be done because the dervish dance feat doesn't make your scimitar a light weapon.

Good to know, that just cemented my choice to take 2 levels of ranger with the two-handed style for power attack as a bonus feat. I don't have a 13 strength, but ranger bonus feats let me ignore the prereqs.

I apologize, as I had no idea they changed Power Attack from 3.5 to include light weapons. I must have just read over it. Thanks to everyone who chimed in.

Note that Dervish Dance is NOT just weapon finesse. It adds Dex to DAMAGE as well, and only allows you to use one scimitar, rather than be able to dual-wield.
