Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

Jesail perks up. "That infernal singing has stopped. Now what?"
Jesail then begins to look around to see where the song may have come from.
Perception to find the origin of the song1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Jesail has his crossbow out and ready.

The song had been coming from the room to the north. You can barly hear the skittering of claws on the stone floor before everything falls truly silent. Its starting to get a little to dark out for you to be able to make out much. You could try lighting a torch or find another source of light.

I screwed up a little and anyone who speaks gnoll would have understood the song that was being sung.

In that case, Oren should be able to understand the words to the song.

"There's something with claws in the ceiling above us. I think there's something else with claws in the room up ahead."

I'm waiting for other players to post before acting further.

Oren:
The song seems to be more of a chant and its talking about gnolls and how great and mighty they are and worthy of worship. The voices chanting/singing sound very familiar to the pugwampi Cahl killed.

"It's in Gnoll... But I don't think Gnolls are into singing..."

He raises his axe and steps at the front of the group. "Darkness only helps the unfaithful, doesn't it priest?"

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

Ripnok speaks Gnoll also. He has darkvision too just in case that matters.

Well my friends...we didn't get dressed up for nothing. Ripnok pulls a potion from his belt that looks different to the others which he quaffs. You see his movements begin to get a bit more graceful than they already are, his fingers lengthening ever so slightly. In addition you see what look like overlapping scales begin to form over his limbs.Mutagen +4 Dex, -2 Wis, +2 NA

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Now that Oren has been close enough to make out the words of the song, his eyes widen.

"It sounds like that creature Cahal killed. The pugwampis!"

At Cahal's words, Oren nods. "We must attend to Sarenrae's teachings and bring light into this place!"

He touches his holy symbol, offering a quick prayer to Sarenrae and his symbol goes to glow.

Cast Light on the holy symbol.

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

"Good now that we have some light, let us attend to cleaning this place out of all the filth that has infested this holy place. What say you Oren?" Jesail will begin to move to the room from which he heard the beast.

Cahal takes the front, following Jesail's directions. "Keep your eyes open, they like to hide behind cacti..."

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren nods. "Lead on."

He keeps his crossbow at the ready, following after Jesail and Cahal.

okay guys everyone that wants to participate in the battle roll initiative. Go ahead and check out the OOC for the rules I posted there last week about battle. Basically I need everyone to post 2 possible actions for their turn. Once everyone has posted I'll resolve the round and it starts all over again. Once I figure out how to work Campaign Cartographer 3 I'll have a map up.

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

Initiative1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Ripnok will take out a vial and prepare to unleash fiery death upon whatever he sees. Failing that he will prepare to unleash fiery death upon whatever he doesn't see. lol

Initiative Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Marossa stays mostly silent as the group approaches the abandoned monastery. Her nerves already frayed ragged by the lack of pesh in her system, Marossa becomes more jumpy the closer the group gets to the building and the singing begins to start up. Her hands nervously hang around another secret fold in her dress that holds her only real weapon. A dagger strapped to a sheath hidden inside her clothes given to her by her father.

Staying towards the middle of the pact, Marossa whispers quietly as the group heads forward.

"Perhaps I could be of help... I could... um... send myself forward and see what happens before we endanger ourselves."

Stealth Roll (if called for): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

If anyone asks for an explanation, Marossa's plan is to send a silent image forward of herself into the center of the room and seeing what happens. I would also like to apologize as I too suffered from the loss of my dot for this thread and didn't see the updates being made. I hope my absence has not disrupted the game too much.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren smiles gently at Marossa. "That sounds like a good plan, if you can do it safely. Don't put yourself in too great a danger, child."

Honestly, I'm not sure what my actions could possibly be. Oren isn't the type to fire his crossbow rashly, so basically he's going to just delay.

Nonetheless, here's the initiative roll: 1d20 ⇒ 3

Don't worry Marossa it happens all the time here. Can you see out of the silent image?

Liberty's Edge

Thank you for understanding. No, I cannot see out of the silent image. But the plan is simply to have the image walk forward into the center of the room where all the singing is coming from ahead of the group, and see if anything jumps out to attack her image.

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

Jesail nods and hold his own crossbow at the ready. "I'm ready for anything."

Initiative:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Nothing happens as the image walks into the room.

Clever little buggers...

Cahal gets tired of waiting and simply walks to the edge of the room, keeping the door frame as cover. If nothing happens, he'll slowly make his way further in. Where are you..?

Rolled Perception earlier.

Cahal you enter the room. A short set of wide ceremonial steps leads down to a cavernous chapel in which the congregants would gather for sermons in happier times. The vibrant orange and red starburst of Sarenrae still stands behind a film of rusted rainwater and dirt along the north wall overlooking the collapsed altar. Between the stairs and the altar stand dozens of old marble benches, many overturned and even more broken into two or more pieces. A wide walkway bisects the pews, leading directly to the raised altar. Here and there a few clumps of the original red carpet along this thoroughfare hang on against rot and neglect. Above the center of the chapel, dangling about ten feet from the floor, hangs a cluster of gnoll skulls in various stages of decay. Strung together like a ghoulish candelabra of twine and bone, the boulder-sized ornament hangs from the wooden rafters about twenty feet above the ground. A small fire burns below the cluster and laying on the ground beside the fire lays a partially skinned gnoll skull. You're perception allows you to see a set of foot prints leading from the room and up another set of stairs.

Cahal waves for the others to move in. He approaches the steps where he found the footprints, but the memory of the smell of Jesail as he tripped in 'juice' and of that idiot's burned skin make him pause and look out for possible traps...

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

Seeing Cahal not get eaten or otherwise reduced to semi-gelatinous goo, Ripnok follows him into the room.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren moves forward, keeping his eyes and crossbow on the ceiling and the rafters.

"There's something up there somewhere," he says softly.

FOR DM EYES ONLY! NO PEAKING:

To Hit Cahal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
To Hit Oren: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
To Hit Ripnok: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Cahal your search for traps reveals that the stairway is clear. As you proceed up the stairs an arrow comes out of no ware but bounces cleanly off your armor. Another two arrows are shot at Ripnok and Oren but they bounce off.

For those who speak gnoll:

Crap I missed!...Me 2...They must be wearing armor

DM Can't roll for crap...

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

Ripnok is about to reply with a witty retort before shaking his head and deciding that a explosion will say everything he needs to say to those who shot an arrow at him.

Can we see where the arrows came from?

Seems to have come from above, so you might want to head up stairs to retaliate

Cahal looks at the others: "Sounds like they're inviting us upstairs..."

He then climbs the steps slowly, weary of traps.

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

Jesail still has his crossbow ready. "I'm right behind you lead on!" Jesail will follow up the stairs after Cahal.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Oren watches the other two go, his crossbow held in his hands to try and shoot at anything that might attack them.

"Sarenrae guide your steps," he says to them.

Due to some RL issues going on I'm going to have to close this game. I just don't have time to run it anymore...sorry everyone

Male Goblin Alchemist 1

That sucks. Well it was fun while it lasted.

Male Sylph Inquisitor Level 1

That is really a shame. I was enjoying this character. Thanks for letting me play though.

Sorry to hear. Good luck with the issues you mention.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Angradd / 2

Totally understand, Mathpro. Good luck with everything.
