Like most people on these boards, I really like the synthesist fluff. Saddly, UM didn't provided us with a piece of art to represent this awesome archetype, so I was wondering if some of you have portrayed their synthesist(s). I think that the whole ''translucent eidolon around you'' part is very flavorful and I would like to see it on paper. Did any geek with an artist's soul (or artist with a geek's soul) has given it a shot? :)
Maybe ask the "Draw my character?" thread?
Most ignore the translucent energy being around you aspect as unappealing any way.
I imagine the Master Chief.
I don't care if it's accurate or not. My Eidolon is named Cortana and I use a repeating crossbow.
Are you serious? That is by far the coolest thing about the new class features, the whole reason the thing exists.

When I read the archetype for the first time, my first thought was: hey, this remind me of Final Fantasy X-2 summons, which means I can now summon a mega-giga warmech around myself if I want to! :)
My group mocks my synthesist. He is a frail old man, bolstered by the image of a shining angelic knight. Subsequently they call him Iron Man.
I agree, Carbon! And Maerimydra, I'll do you one better than a drawing! I just posted this thread for the mini I made for my synthesits summoner:
Translucent Eidolon + Summoner Mini
I'm working on a synthesist. Did you watch A Scanner Darkly? Imagine one of those ever-shifting suits, but every part is a different variety of half-dragon. Still somewhat translucent, but still looks like a single entity.
This dawned on me in the gestalt thread: A ninja/synthesist seems much like everyone's favorite anime character:
Believe it!
...scroll down and you'll get the picture. I'm not sure I'll ever think of synthesists the same way again. *le sigh*

LOL, good catch! :)

Awesome work Mr. Hodge, truly remarkable!

Neat pics, but those last two... aren't exactly quadrupeds
My synthesist has summoned his eidolon from the Dark tapestry, and wears it like Dealkyr (from Eberron) symbiont armour....so think witchblade-ish ;)

I can't wait for my next character... a synethist summoner based on the Guyver series.

Well, seeing how the eidolon's capabilities will advance as the character.... it's only appropriate to model the character after Aptom. :)

Damn, and a one level dip into Synthesist would be amazing for a Ninja too. You'd get pounce, 3 natural attacks plus 1 more 1 cost eidolon evolution, an extra d10 of hit points, decent physical stats. Damn you for making me want to play the orange ninja Xo!

However that is a rather EVIL way to gain power.
lol those are pretty good magic the gathering cards too.
My gripe is having a medium (so, pony or dog sized) quadruped. There's no way you can draw that without it looking retarded.
The glowy shell thing should have been one of a few ways to interpret that. As it is in only works if your Eidolon is huge (quadruped) or serpentine/biped (and at least your size category). Maybe the whole thing should have just specified serpentine or biped and banned the "small" feature.
Personally, In my game, If you took synthesis and not bi-ped.. you are limited to doing what your eidolon could do.
Anything that's your gear, you can use sure. Consumables and the like, but you couldn't wield a weapon unless you have "hands" evolution.
The archetype always reminded me of Hisako Ichiki from the X-Men.
