This may not be the right place, but I'd like to thank whoever suggested covering each corner of Ultimate Magic with cardboard(?) elbows. The book arrived today tightly closed and in perfect condition. Seriously, thanks guys.

That and the Paizo "The Golem's Got It" box it came in is cool too :-)

That's excellent news!

Can that be assumed to be the standard going forward (even for overseas mail), or was it a one-time-subscriber deal?

We have a warehouse full of these new boxes and their corners. It is the new standard until a new standard replaces it. Until further notice, hardcover books should be shipped in boxes with corners. Our way of making sure they come to you in great condition.

Did anyone else imagine Lisa's post as spoken by Cave Johnson?

"We're not banging rocks together over here at Paizo Publishing, we're packing your books with corners, throwing them at the wall and see what sticks! Lisa Stevens, we're done here."

Thanks Lisa, you guys rock.

I was actually going to post something similar. I used to work shipping/receiving for bookstores, which made me a fussy jackass about properly packing boxes. When mine got here I opened it and had a moment where I was ignoring the goodies inside and just thinking, 'this is what I'm talking about'.

I would just like to add my 2 cents and completely agree that this is a great change. Although previous books arrived in reasonably good shape, Ultimate Magic is the first to arrive in pristine condition.

I would also like to say I'm amazed at the speed at which it arrived. Given that they shipped out on Friday, it only took 2 business days where my estimate was listed as 7 to 11 days - and I'm not even in the US!

Liberty's Edge

Would just like to add my 2 pence and say thanks for this change, I have often received books with dinged corners, the perils of international shipping, but Ultimate Magic came through fine even tough all four corners of the shipping box had been bashed in.

Good work Paizo!

This thread should have been titled 'Ultimate Packing Materials'.

I agree. The new packing is great. It made me happy and I rarely get happy about book packing...

Plus, if you turn the book corners upside down, they make great mountains for toy dinosaurs! My kids approve. :)

Awesome! Though, I guess my APs and other softies are still SOL. ;)

No kids (and no plans to have any), but my wife's first response upon seeing the corners was, "These would make great mountains for miniatures!"

Joana, that is the single best thing I have seen on the internet today.

No, but the exact materials we use do vary depending on the contents of the shipment.

I just want to thank Paizo for the corner guards too. Love them. And congrats on the Paizo shipping boxes. :)

I love them too; and they make the stupid packing peanuts moot (god how I hate the packing peanuts) so maybe we can get rid of them now?

I didn't, but now I am (and I wouldn't have known what you were talking about a week ago!)

Peanuts are still going to be used wherever we think it's appropriate. (Keep in mind that many of the products we sell aren't hardcover books.)

Indeed. I've been very happy with the packaging as of late because for a while the books weren't making it to me without damages.
