Liberty's Edge

Alright....

First things first....What the heck does that mean?!?

why do you think monk plays into Vash, i don't see the connection, I'm not saying it doesn't i just don't see it

I don't see Vash as a monk, either. Thing about Vash is, he isn't quite human, is he? So most what would not fall under Gunslinger would prob be determined by racial features. But in any case, though he dabbles in philosophy, he just doesn't do any monk things that I can think of.

If anything, there's almost a little barbarian there, when he gets angry.

Because it's the only way a character can actually dodge bullets being fired at close range.

Yeah what Daisuke1133 said.

Whatever the tree may look like in this scenario, the problem with statting characters from film, comics, and especially anime, is that you are always going to encounter "builds" that just can't be made from normal character progressions without wasting a bunch of stuff or taking things completely off-track.

Anime is especially bad for basing characters if you're trying to go for a pure recreation in a game like Pathfinder. Often, anime characters are built to be bad-ass without a lot of connection between their various abilities and without a lot of worry as to comparative power level.

While I am aware of that fact. I just thought that instead of all these Guns/Gunslingers are broken threads. We need more what is possible type threads. This Idea struck me while I was re-watching Trigun.

So that is why I made it.

Is a Vash style character possible (an inspired character rather than an emulation)?

The fact that Deflect Arrows seems to work with Guns is kinda silly.

But not as silly as Catching the bullets...

But non-monks can do this too. Its just a feat.

If you allow a zen archer to use guns instead of bows I think it could work.

Especially if you mix in some catch off guard action and combat maneuvers -- it's going to be a very tight build for feats and what not -- but probably a lot of fun to play.

I did a shotgun empty hand monk of the four winds when we were using the old paizo guns rules -- if I was using the scattergun I used vital strike otherwise it was whatever craziness I could attack with at the time.

I had never considered the possibility of a merciful enchanted gun before this...

Using a variant of Book of Exalted Deed's "Vow of Peace/Nonviolence" was actually one of the first things that came to mind...mind you the biggest problem there is the best way to get these feats is with "Vow of Poverty"...and it'd be impossible to be a gunslinger with "Vow of Poverty" since you'd be using an item (your gun).

Maybe if you were an animated construct gun given permanent sentience through awaken construct who took class levels and eventually got the vows himself...then got a cohort to shoot him...but that sounds like transformers.

Dark Archive

lol i was just thinking of this.

gunslinger 11/ zen archer monk 9, with a feat to use guns instead of a bow for zen archer
