See, I was going to post something about disco being dead, then thought about possible responses and somehow got Discthulhu.

My mind goes strange places.

And so begins the great beef jerky experiment!

Why has nobody made that alias yet?

Just got back from our early morning walk (at 5 am) with Duke. Now time for more sleep then Kingmaker with Jess, Wolfthulhu, and company later.

Aw-ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I'm off to Utah. I'll talk to you guys in about 8 weeks.

Y'all take care!

Don't work too hard!

So, I'm slowly putting together a campaign log for my Carrion Crown game and one of my players is a pretty skilled artist. He's done tons of pencil sketches of our game in the past, but he's now working on an oil portrait of his halfling summoner.

Anyway, I'm not terribly experienced at things internet-y: does anyone have a recommendation for the best site to post pictures on? I've seen people use Photobucket--are there any other sites that people recommend?

It depends on how artsy he is. I would say that if he's superartsy, deviantart is where to go, if not, then photobucket will do. Photobucket just lets you upload image files to your own page and you let people know where it is. It's not anything that deviantart doesn't already do, but I have found the community at deviantart to be more...well..artsy, while on photobucket people won't find stuff unless you let them know where it is, more or less.

I do like Photobucket myself, and it works well for linking pictures via the [url=] thing. Deviant would be better for if he wants people to find his work, as FHDM says.

Hmm, my experiment in permadefocus seems to have finally done the trick =D

Funky Cold Medina just came on VH1. Kickass.

So, you're saying that I missed nothing?

Nope. Great wheel keeps on turning, etc.

Scarab Sages

Mrgh.

I'll check out Deviantart, too, thanks.

He's pretty good--he makes his living doing tattoos. He's also a talented woodworker. So far, he's made about a half-dozen wands and a halfling-sized longsword.

He just does it for fun. It's really a shame that I haven't been documenting his stuff on here all along.

Hopefully, I'll get my Luddite ass into the 21st century and rectify this.

So, in the beginning of Carrion Crown,

Spoiler:
the party is given a bunch of books:

The Manual of the Order of the Palatine Eye which is about the Masonicish secret society in Ustalav

On Verified Madness about aberrations and The Dark Tapestry

Serving Your Hunger about Urgathoa and undead

The Umbral Leaves which is "This lexicon is a translation into Common of the unholy book of Zon-Kuthon."

I figured I'd be a dick and if any of the characters attempt to read one of the books, I'd make the player read a book (RIF!) and when they were done reward them with xp and probably a boost to an appropriate Skill.

Here's what I've come up with so far, in order:

From Hell, which is a comic book, I know. Anyone got any better ideas?

anything by Lovecraft

Dracula

????--The only thing I could think of that would be easily available would be The Satanic Bible by Lavey, but I'd rather use a novel and also, in a rare bit of mature prudence, I decided that might not be such a good idea as I don't know my new players all that well.

Any ideas?

You should try this in the Carrion Crown thread for the first book. It's a place players know not to go unless they want spoilers. Fawtl, on the other hand... *ahem*.

Oops, sorry. I'd delete it but it's too late, if any admin types are about, feel free to toss it down the memory hole.

Well, that was fun. I got to flag a post for the first time!

I added a spoiler tag. And now it's time for phase 2 of The Great Jerky Experiment: The Jerkening!

Grand Lodge

You're a dirty man, Gary.

Homemade jerky is delicious, expensive, and time-consuming to make. I hate the thin-slicing necessary. But it's better than boughten. Hope yours turns out well!

And thanks for the spoiler tag. It's not a huge spoiler, but some of us like to be all dramatic in our revelations and blah like that. We're goofy.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking, sorry.

Spoiler:
Players are hilarious! Mine spent considerable time and resources to purchase masterwork thieves' tools to pick open the locked book and never even opened the other three!

I would go with any short non fiction books on a similar concept.

Is there such a thing as bacon jerky?

Spoiler:
Maybe How to Satan-Proof Your Home? Hee hee!

On Treppa's advice I made a thread over in the Carrion Crown thread and already got 3 suggestions. Good call, thanks.

GM's are great about suggesting stuff for AP's they are running. This community is really awesome, and you never get trolling in the AP threads, just good citizens.

I should not have said that.

Grand Lodge

There is rarely anything to argue in AP forums, since they focus more on story ideas and discussions than rule arguments.

Except for the haunts thread, but even that has remained mostly civil.

Well, Scott prepared for his big trip to Japan, not realizing that he was destined to play a key part in the defeat of a real life Godzilla-like mutation. Meanwhile, Bill and Al were at each others throats again in the office, this time arguing over who would be stuck with unfortunate task of briefing the logistics people. And, across town, Charlie was busy planning new ways to.....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

BACON JERKY, A NEW KIND OF BACONY GOODNESS SNACK FOR BACON LOVERS.

Los Angeles, CA
It was only a few months ago that the guys at www.baconfreak.com created bacon jerky, You heard me right, I didn’t say beef jerky, I said Bacon Jerky! I am sure that all you true bacon aficionados are already drooling uncontrollably as your internal tasting mechanisms know that bacon jerky will be able to satisfy your daily bacon urges on go. No longer are you limited to eating bacon at home, you can now take our pouches with you and eat bacon at work, school or simply as a great snack no matter where you are at anytime throughout your day.

The best part about Bacon Jerky in comparison to regular bacon is that when you cook bacon, the aroma floats through the air calling out to those around you to come and get it which means that you have to share. With Bacon Jerky it’s ready to eat the second you want it! You can simply enjoy a few pieces and those around you want know that you’re snacking on the most delectably delicious bacon ever. How great is that?

You are probably asking what is Bacon Jerky? Well it’s similar to beef jerky, but we start with the highest quality dry cured gourmet country bacon like the kind that you have come to love with the Bacon Freak Bacon is Meat Candy Bacon Club. In fact we use several of the same flavors such as our Bourbon Street Cajun Bacon, Coastal Caliente Jalapeno Bacon, Rocco’s Private Reserve Pepper Bacon, Boss Hog Hickory Bacon, Honey BBQ Bacon and now our Boss Hog’s Maple Bacon. Each strip of bacon is hand rubbed with our various spices and prepared to perfection. Bacon Freak promises you that this is snack that you won’t soon forget.

This is definitely a delectably delicious snack.

You can get kangaroo and emu jerky... It's a bit gamey for my taste and I prefer original beef. Teriyaki flavor is not the best either but chili is ok.
