THANK YOU!
Email is fine, but I can give you my cell number. Also GothBard has it.
Can you please also get one good one of the monkey bear fountain at the Circle, assuming they've decorated it?
OK. OMG. It was NOT hard to find the house. "How can we expend 20,000 watts on a 2500-square-foot lot?"
Woooow...
GothBard's texting you some really good photos now. (She got herself an iPhone 13 because 13, and it takes better pictures than even our high-end digital SLRs.)
As for the monkey bear fountain, she got one pretty crappy photo, but it was pretty crappy decorations: Just plain white lights around the circle and a couple of red bows on the bear. Was unimpress.
EDIT: Wanna see my decorations?

Yeah, there are a lot of tastefully decorated houses on The Arlington. That's not one of them.
There used to be a guy on the other side of Kensington who put a life size skeleton in a Santa outfit in his front bay window, with some other skeletal animals as well. But he stopped before we moved. Which was sad, because it was beautifully done. But I forgot to say thank you.
Hermione and I miss driving up there and seeing the lights.

Happy Holidays, FaWtL!
Happy belated, Freehold! Congratulations, NH! Salutations to anyone else as appropriate!
I'm beyond frustrated because I found out yesterday that my neighbor and his son have Covid. The afternoon before that, his daughter and my daughter were playing together. I guess after that, my neighbor and his kids took Covid tests, and the two of them got positive results, and his daughter got a negative result. (But there's still a high chance she has it, but it just hasn't developed to the point where the test detects it.)
The only reason I found this out is because my daughter went to see if her friend could play, yesterday, and my neighbor's son answered the door. I heard my 7 year's old version of the conversation, so I texted my neighbor to confirm.
So, he knew as of Wednesday night, but I didn't find out about that possible exposure until 3:00 Thursday afternoon. On the day before Christmas Eve.
Anyway, we tested my daughter this morning, and the test is negative. We'll test again tomorrow morning.

Also, the kids just set out a glass of my krupnik and a slice of poppy seed cake for Santa. No cookies and milk at this house.
In our house we had this conversation.
The General: Yup, I did pretty good this year, I didn't forget a thing!
Tiny T-Rex (with perfect timing): What about the milk and cookies for Santa?!
horror dawns on the General's face.
The General: pop tarts are a type of cookie, right?!

So long as they're the frosted kind, they totally count. Pop Tarts are awesome.

Next time one of you needs to give a speech, please consider using one (or more) of the following alternative openings:
"My dearest, beloved f#!@os"
"Esteemed Bastards"
"Gentlefolk, Ferals, and Domesticated Cryptids"
(and for those in Texas)
"My fellow Yee's and Ha's"
(Edit: I apparently can't spell gentlefolk)

You gotta high five the general for me. That's some quick thinking.

Merry Christmas, FaWtLers!
I had my best Christmas morning in years:
(1) Nothing but chocolates in my stocking
(2) An empty bag and tissue that we can re-use
(3) HeroQuest, because it arrived in time to be put under the tree as a present
(4) Windshield wipers for the Prius, which I'd asked GothBard to get but she forgot until just before Christmas, then wrapped them to look like a "limited edition posted that you'll just love"! (She knows I hate posters more than almost anything else.)
(5) A banana and a penny from the whole family.
A perfect loot list!

** spoiler omitted **
I make the poppy seed cake like the second picture down, in a roll.
My great grandfather's krupnik recipe involves mulling potato vodka with cinnamon, vanilla bean, peppercorns, lemon peel, honey, cloves, and nutmeg. And then letting it steep for a few weeks.

I clicked the link and then translated to English because I do not speak polish.
The first thing it translated to was "opium". Which is good because the soup looks like something nourishing you eat before you go out to cut wood and encounter men who are drafting you and your brother for the army and you must fight them as mother has only the two of you to provide for her.
Also I am eating black cake as we speak.
