Today was pretty good. Broken AC got replaced. Kidlet felt comfortable staying home alone for a couple hours while I ran errands. (This is a big improvement) I wore a new T-shirt. It says “My body is a temple, ancient & crumbling, probably cursed, harboring an unspeakable horror” Seemed appropriate for the monthly run to the pharmacy. :)
Green curry for dinner turned out amazingly well and went great with the purple rice (half nishiki half black cargo rice comes out purple), and I found gluten free Oreo like cookies! They were awful! Like a knockoff of the cheap knockoffs! It was awesome! (Look it’s been a while since I had Oreos, okay?)
And best of all, I am finally caught up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now off to get too little sleep before all the appointments tomorrow

That was a great episode today.

I've always liked his film theories a bit more than his game theories though.
Edit: and if you want to start a Lawful alignment war ask about unenforced laws...

Just a Mort wrote:

Fun fact: The offending players in question were over the age of 25.

Under the PFS rules you cannot ban particular characters from your games, nor particular players, if I am not wrong, no?

Don’t get me wrong, I understand why the rules were there, so that PFS can get maximum number of people playing and don’t get GMs saying they’re not running games for certain people out of pique.

If you cannot answer certain things due to confidentiality as your position as a VC/VL/VO, I understand as well.

But on the other hand, there’s GM’s feelings to consider as well, and trying to run a game with people you don’t get along with just leads to GM burnout. And then you have a smaller pool of GMs.

In Singapore mostly everyone has played most scenarios non core, so they’re currently waiting for Pathfinder 2.0, and currently playing Starfinder. But before the scenario exhaustion, there was a shortage of GMs. I had a group that I ran scenarios from rather low level (3 ish), all the way to seeker level. They were cheese monkeys, but also an adorable bunch. I liked them.

Well…to me GMing is entertainment, but it really s*cks your energy when you have people you can’t get along with. And honestly it seems like you’re more likely then not to recruit one these types in an open recruitment.

While you cant ban a person from a public game space, short of as a group deciding that person is no longer welcome, you can absolutely refuse to GM for certain individuals.

Usually its up to a venture officer to try and avoid a situation like this, working with the parties involved.
Sometimes there are misunderstandings. Sometimes people just need a talking to. You want to avoid situations where you have trouble sceduling because Bob does not want to GM for Joe, because Joe plays an alchemist, and Bob hates the class.
If Joe however goes out of his way to derail the plot every time, and after some talking to does not improve, its Bob's every right to say he will not GM for Joe.
And if it ends up with no GM in the whole group wants to GM for Joe, then its best to ask Joe to leave.

Speaking as a general, we dont like conflict, and we dont like confrontation (we're generally more on the introvert side). So working out problems like that isnt the most fun, but something that does need to happen. If all GMs have their 'exclusive' people, then sceduling becomes hell. You want to avoind petty reasons, and if there is a good reason, to try and work it out first.

I've personally banned 1 person from my location. Not due to behavioral problems, but because he refused to contribute rent. Not a single cent. He had no reason not to (I know he had a comfortable job, he worked at the same firm as me).
That was a jerk move, and I told him he was not welcome untill he was ready to contribute. He's yet to come back after a year and a half.

GMing should be fun. If its not fun, you can shoulder trough for a while , but you'll burn out real quick. Your local PFS structure should support you in that.

There was someone in Singapore playing a character that used the *private parts* of enemies as an improvised weapon. I understand player freedoms, but I cannot tolerate such behavior at my table. I'd flatly say you leave your nunchucks at the pathfinder lodge or you don't adventure.

Sorry Cover Turtle that I'm repeating myself, I've vented on FAWTL before. Cover Turtle said he would give the guy a long look and just say you don't do that, coldly while rolling RL intimidate.

There's another guy who causes derailment by extremely long rules arguments with the GM, every table he goes to. And when you're trying to finish your game before 11 and everyone misses the last train home... to say it irritates people is an understatement.

I think it's hilarious that the only two actual suggestions are, in fact, for the same movie.

(Yes, they are, in fact, the same movie.)

Just to shake things up, I'll throw in the other titles that could possibly be generated from that film:

- The Magnificent FaWtL alt: use "7" instead of a letter, like 7aWtL or FaW7l or something; without that (which I prefer), it becomes understated, and subtle, reference-wise

- The FaWtL Samurai alt: use "7" instead of a letter, like 7aWtL or FaW7l or something; without that (which I prefer), it becomes understated, and subtle, reference-wise

- FaWtL Magnificent 7 "cleverly" (hah!) just replacing "the" with "FaWtL"

- FaWtL Seven Samurai "cleverly" (hah!) just replacing "the" with "FaWtL"

Anyhoo, I actually like the first two, sans "l33t speak," more than I thought I would.

Also, I'd forgotten that Vin lived.
Because McQueen always dies, like Sean Bean, I "remembered" him dying in this one, too. Weird.
