Ioun Stone stacks with Cloak?

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

I have a cloak of resistance +3, will that stack with an amber spindle (+1 on saving throws)? If so can I go above a total of +5? For example my CoR +3 and 3 cracked amber spindle stones (all for will save) to get a +6 will save.

Both are a resistance bonus to saves, so no. This question should be moved to the rules forum though as this is a PFRPG question, not a society question.

Since they are both resistence bonuses, then multiple Ioun stones should not even stack with each other.

By definition amber spindle stones do stack: "This stone grants you a +1 resistance bonus on saving throws. The bonuses from multiple amber spindles stack (up to a maximum of a +5 resistance bonus to saving throws)." The real question for me is do thier effects stack with a cloak of resistance?

OK, I need to move this, is there a way to move the thread, or do I just start another in the rules section?

The multiple ioun stones would stack with each other (as mentioned), but not with the cloak. You would only take the highest bonus.

Todd, Why the sudden interest in saving throws?

Note, however, that for 4000gp, a Cracked Pale Green Prism ioun stone grants a +1 competence bonus to saves, which will stack with a Cloak of Resistance.

However cracked stones are not legal for PFS...

Ah, good to know.

Cracked Stones are perfectly legal.

"Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Seekers of Secrets Everything in this book is legal for play (and considered part of the
core assumption) with one note: ioun stones use method 1 for resonance
and never use method 2. Additionally, only normal ioun stones have
resonance—inferior ioun stones never do."

I've got a cracked dusty rose on most of my characters. 500gp for a slotless +1 init!

Because my fighter can't pull his weight when he's dead or charmed or had a suggestion thrust upon him or etc., etc., etc.

On the top of the thread you can flag it as being in the wrong forum and the moderators will move it.

As for the topic, I don't think it's entirely clear but my understanding is stones stack with each other but not other resistance saves like the cloak.

Not without a line in the amber to say it stacks with other resistance bonuses. So no they won't stack with a cloak and the stacking is explicitly forbidden in the rules.

Yes the cracked pale green prism is your way for you to go.

Cracked ioun stones are legal... I may end up with a high Init after all.

12 just isn't high enough though...

Just add dueling to your weapon, that aught to help.

Todd, You only dropped a few saves. If you would have had your faction shirt with you, it would have been a whole different story! :)

Either way, I do recommend that you grab a few Save boosting goodies!

Yes, but going forward it is only going to get worse for my dumb and unwise fighter type, so time to work on this.

Fighters who dump wisdom are in for a world of hurt past 5th level or so. Iron Will and Improved Iron will are your best bet.

In the case of this particular fighter I don't have any 'extra' feats. It is a two weapon fighter using two different weapons. Almost all of my feats are taken up just keeping up with weapon feats.
