Hey there Everyone,
As of this moment, the playtest of the Magus class is drawing to a close. Although we had some contentious moments there, this playtest had generated a great deal of useful information. In the coming weeks, I hope to release a revised version of this class for a small window of additional work, but as of now, I must move on to other priorities.
The forums will remain open for continued discussion but my attention to them will be diminished for a time. I would ask that folks keep remain civil and respectful during this time, and if not, you know where the report buttons are.
In a few weeks we also plan to launch a playtest of the Words of Power alternate spellcasting system. Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement on that playtest as we draw closer to its launch.
Thanks again for all of your hard work and effort working with the Magus.

Thanks for giving us the chance to playtest these new ideas.
Seems like few things in the game bring out disagreement then establishing a balance between melee and magic.
My own view is that EK is a viable option, combat bards are great, and there is plenty of room for more fighting arcane options without forcing anyone into the sidekick dustbin.
Please continue to keep balance in mind, not just cool.
Thanks!
PS The timing of the playtests sometimes doesn't work out well with getting the group together. Is there a way individuals can join in with more then "looktesting"? I was thinking of stating up some sample monstrous characters that others can use?

I gotta say you guys created a very interesting class. Spell combat was a bold idea, and I am interested in how the next iteration of the magus develops. And as always its phenomenally awesome that you guys share with us elements of your design process, and listen to our (sometimes cantankerous, often uproarious) feedback. I scour a few other game forums in my spare time, and NONE are as busy and as vibrant as the paizo boards.
thanks :D

Well, I think that's something we as the community could help organize a bit better ourselves.

I'm curious to see what the final judgement calls will be as well. Unfortunately it's hard for me to get any playtesting in right now but I'm starting up a campaign this weekend so hopefully I can participate in the next one more actively.
The boards can get pretty crazy over playtesting stuff and the like, but that just shows how much the people here care about the game. Thanks for putting up with all of it Paizo! And for going through the trouble of open playtesting in the first place.

I know I started my character a bit on the late side but I have to say that it was this Magus class that, after years away from the pen and paper, that hooked me once again. This character is what I had been trying to play since the first character I rolled 17 years ago with 2nd edition. Finally an avenue in which to roleplay out without the crippling effects of bending the rules. I can't thank you enough for this and I hope the final result is that the Magus is a class here to stay.

Jason posted on his Facebook page that the updated playtest should be out on Monday...he just wanted to make folks wish for the weekend to end I think :).
It's just part of his evil ways -- he always waits for monday to put up the good stuff! Which is a shame since my groups tend to play strictly on the weekends.

Oh good not just me and GoodReader messing up the unzip. :D. Fubar, I wish my GM didn't have finals killing his time so could play this on the weeked... I love credit pages. I'd like to give a shout out to Kunji Sedo for likely keeping the rest of the staff from rolling in the stacks of money Paizo has been pulling in :P .
