While I don't know if this game complies with the OGL, it is a D20 based game that plays pretty similar to 3.5 (with only 3 classes and 3 races, though). There's a sequel in the works that will expand the number of options significantly. If it is legal though per the OGL, then I don't see anything stopping a Pathfinder RPG for the computer to use OGL rules either. If you liked the old 'gold box' SSI games, then you'll enjoy this as well, but using a pseudo 3.5 ruleset.

It's worth keeping in mind that Paizo's a much more visible competitor to Wizards of the Coast than are the creators of Knights of the Chalice.

And has he ever gotten his hands on any Numerian tech? If only to provide for a Monkey vs Robot themed adventure somewhere?

The gorilla king hasn't gotten his hands on Numerian tech yet. And it's worth noting that the gorilla king who snatched the Worldbreaker wasn't the same one that grabbed the big bombard more recently, and as such the Worldbreaker isn't necessarily in the possession of the current gorilla king.

Moonlight Bridge (Su): You summon a bridge of shimmering moonlight. The 10-foot-wide span touches the ground at a point adjacent to your position. From this point it can extend in any direction for 10 feet per oracle level. The path persists until you have crossed over the bridge or for 24 hours, whichever is shorter. You may summon a moonlight bridge a number of times per day equal to your Charisma bonus. Should the bridge be attacked, treat it as a wall of force.

James,
I love the concept of The Vaults in the Darklands. Its a perfect solution to my always wanting a massively vast underground but worried that eventually one would run out of realasitc space.

Whose idea was this?? They deserve a medal and cookies.

I noticed that some regions got the 32 page treatment and some got or will get the 64 page treatment. Any particular this happened?? And will those areas that got only 32 pages get an upgrade to 64?? If not why??

Minor brain-fart moment: Is the Gold Dragon in charge of the super-human experiment (forgive me, I forget his name and the name of the country, hermea or something similar?) still Lawful Good or has his noble intention (and horrific acts) corrupted him to Lawful Neutral or Lawful Evil?

Also to the subject of the Vaults, and a tangent off towards the nature of the Gods: Assuming that everybody did dogpile on Rovarug, would that mean that the remains of the Dead Gods are or were formerly stored in these Deep Vaults, or are they ejected into the Astral Plane? Just had a crazy thought that the origin of the abberations and unnatural environments could be attributed to the clashing/conflicted ambient energies still locked within the decomposing bodies of fallen Gods.

Either way, looking forwards to an adventure that sends players deep into these 'Vaults' and gives them encounters, not necessarily violent ones, against civilisations so far removed from their own mentality the PCs are left floundering and must rely upon clues from previous explorers...

A bridge going up isn't a bridge... it's a wall.

And the power isn't called "moonlight wall."

Sorry if that sounds snarky... but it's important to keep in mind the flavor and intention of a power when you start looking for "creative" methods of using it in ways it wasn't intended to be used.

Moonlight Bridge is a power that lets you cross over things that are perilous or hard to move through. "Any direction" means that you can attach any two points within range. The use of words like "path" further enforces the fact that it has to be mostly horizontal that you can easily walk on.

The Vaults were my idea.

Whether or not a region gets a 32 page or a 64 page treatment depends on a lot of things. We did 32 page books for the five faction regions in the Organized Play program because we wanted the players of that program to be able to buy spoiler-free books for their regions. We did one for Sargava because we wanted to expand that region to help people playing in Serpent's Skull, and because that let us do a 64 page one on the Mwangi Expanse to cover more of the same from a GM's perspective.

It's a decision we make for each product as best suits what we need it to do and what the schedule can support, more or less. Some of the 32 page books will indeed be "upgraded" to a 64 page book eventually, but the information won't be reprinted as much as it will be expanded.

We haven't actually said in print what Mengkare's alignment is. In fact, mentioning that here at Paizo is a sure-fire way to start an alignment argument between me and James Sutter. If I'm ever forced to put Mengkare's alignment in print, he WON'T be lawful good... that much is sure. For now, and for the foreseeable future, what his alignment is depends on what the GM wants it to be.

Not every god dogpiled on Rovagug. We haven't actually made a list of who did and didn't take part in that war. Rovagug isn't dead, though; he's very much alive. He got put in that prison precisely BECAUSE the combined efforts of the gods weren't enough to kill him; the best they could do was to lock him up. We don't really have a place where all dead gods go—they certainly do not go to the Astral Plane to become big giant petrified bodies, since that's Wizards of the Coast's intellectual property. It's more interesting to me, in any case, if the fate of a dead god is different every time—that's more or less how we've been handling it, even if we haven't said much about the topic beyond the fact that there's a layer of the Abyss where dead demon lords are "buried," and that there's a dead deity of some sort on Abaddon that the four Horsemen are eating.

The Darkland Vaults weren't created by the gods anyway—they gods don't have any more to do with them than they do any other region on Golarion.

How much does the average commoner or expert in the Inner Sea know about firearms? That seems like a poor phrasing. What I'm getting at is how widespread knowledge of these things are.

Specifically, if a gunslinger draws on an unruly bar patron, what are the chances that said patron will have any idea it's a weapon pointed at him. I know guns exist, and I know that adventurers have cause to have heard of them, but how would a Taldan farmer or Chelaxian innkeeper react to a weapon being fired if hostilities broke out? Assume it's a caster on the loose, or realize the bang is something else entirely?

People know about them, certainly. Just as people know about demons and dragons and vampires and other infamous scary things. There's a fair amount of misinformation about the topic out there as well, but for the most part, folks will recognize a gun for what it is if they're part of a modern society... be they a farmer or innkeeper or whatever.

Also, even if they'd never heard of a gun, I'm betting they'd assume it was a dangerous wand and react accordingly. This is a world where small handheld objects can launch balls of fire at people.

If they are any kind of intelligent, then when the gunslinger pulls out something threateningly and points it towards them, they'd be MORE afraid because of the fact that they DON'T know what it is.

We had a similar situation with this ability in one of our groups and it was decided that it had to be a bridge or something that you could possibly walk on but another question arose.

Could an oracle have more than one bridge out at a time? Either to create multiple paths to cross a location or to connect one bridge to another that may be too short?

From what I remember about the Lovecraft mythos, the shoggoth is the source of all human life from bacteria falling off of it and evolving. Is it that way in Golarian as well? Or is it just a monster due to wanting to keep Pathfinder and Golarion your own thing and just pay homage to Lovecraft?

James, does Golarion have an equivelent to Dracula, both in terms of who he was historically as well supernaturally myth wise??

I rather like the little mini map in the top left corner for each region's entry in the Inner Sea World Guide. Whose idea was that, they deserve a tip of the hat and perhaps a smal raise.

Golarion has several equivilents to Dracula.

Spoiler:
The first one we detailed was the blue dragon Kazavon, but there's several more detailed in "Rule of Fear."

The mini map in the corner was Andrew Vallas's idea, I believe. Might have been Sarah's. One of them, at least.

This being the last weekend before we ship over a half-dozen still-not-ready books to the printer for Gen Con, my prospects for being able to go out while theaters are still open this weekend are slim.

I do want to see both Thor AND Priest though.

Well then, I guess I need to re-read AtMoM and then edit one of my other books.

Oh, and would Azathoth be as powerful and stupid in Golarion as he is in the Lovecraft mythos?

Ok,
I thought I knew how Darkness/Light worked in PF. But after reading a thread on here, now I'm seriously confused.

I thought I'd ask what the intention was, with the spells. So, example...

Example 1
Deeper Darkness is cast in a room that is dimly lit. This takes it down two light levels to Supernaturally Dark (IE: No darkvision).

A lantern is lit in the spell. Because the lantern is in the spell, it does not work, because the light source is in the spell.

A torchbearer opens the door to the room. The spell stops at the door. His torch is outside the spell, so it is not stopped from producing light. It produces Normal light out to 20 feet, and dim light out to 40 feet. Because the light originates outside the darkness field, it is lowered by the deeper darkness from Bright to Dark (But not supernatural). So if the torchbearer had darkvision, he could see 20 feet into the field but no further. If he steps forward into the field, his torch goes out and he loses his darkvision.

Example 2
Noon Day Sunlight, very bright. Deeper Darkness is cast. The ambient light level is reduced from Very Bright to Dim. There is then 60 feet of dim light.

If a character is on the north side of this field, because it is dim, he can still see a creature on the south side of this field (IE: Both are 5 feet outside the deeper darkness spell, standing in bright light). This is because the lighting between them is dim. Humans don't have a specific range they can see in dim light, they can simply see in dim light, and lowlight doubles this. So, since it's 60 feet of dim, the human just see's through 60 feet of dim light and see's the shadowy outline of the guy on the other side of the spell.

Example 3
A tunnel leads from bright sunlight to bright sunlight (imagine a train tunnel in the mountains). If you stand at one end, you can see someone standing in the sun on the other end.

Now deeper darkness is cast in the middle of the tunnel. The tunnel interior is dim light, therefore Deeper Darkness would make the interior of the tunnel completely dark (not even darkvision). So, you would no longer be able to see anyone or anything on the other end of the tunnel.

Is that correct? Or am I just completely and utterly out of my mind on how this works?

1) Doubtful, since I don't see us doing many more base classes.

2) Pathfinder #24.

3) I do. Wayne Reynolds, Eva Widermann, and Steve Prescott are three of my current favorite artists. Beyond RPGs, I'm also a fan of several of the old pulp magazine illustrators, photomanipulator J. 4) That'd be cool. I suspect yes, some day we'll do an aasimar version of the tiefling article. Not sure where or when that might show up though.

5) See Pathfinder #24; that's pretty much all we've said. The tarrasque is the most powerful, but I can't recall if we ranked them in order from least to most ever.

Did Pharsma fight Rovagug?

Nope. She was too busy dealing with the dead gods that fight kept shooting up into her Boneyard.
Could she have killed him?
Nope. Whether or not that's because she lacked the power or lacked the desire to make that decision in the first place is the question, though.

Did Pharasma lack the power to kill Rovagug, or the inclination?

Has Pazio considered making a "Colossus" Product that is everything Pazio has in their product package as single product? This product would be upgraded each time a new Pazio product comes out and would not duplicate anything already purchased.

What do you think about that?
