Tengu are humanoids, and therefore taste like pork.

Because there are so many bird options and they all taste like chicken.

warning: insect story:

So, my 1st floor apartment has become a haven for palmetto bugs (big, freaking cockroaches, sometimes with wings). A couple of weeks ago after the first cold snap, I turned on the kitchen light and saw one right in the middle of the floor. We were both startled, but I managed to hunt it down and kill it with a flyswatter. So, every day since then, I've turned on the kitchen light with some trepidation. Nothing happened, so naturally my guard dropped. This morning, I go to start up the shower and that's when the second one decides to pull a Bobby Ewing.

I need an exterminator.

You were able to kill the palmetto bug with a fly swatter? Impressive. Was it a +1 fly swatter or something?

I loved your description, though. I got an image of this awkward "Uh. Hi?" moment passing between the two of you...before the killing ensued. ;)

Spoiler:
As gross as they are, at least palmetto bugs aren't as bad as the 6-inch long centipedes that I used to have to deal with when I was living in Hawaii.

Those damned things actually chase you, have a bite that injects necrotising venom, and showed up in the most horrifying places...like the time I found one hanging out in the fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen. It was really difficult trying to open the light cover so I could suck up the centipede with a vacuum without actually letting the centipede out or having it fall on my head. ::shudder::

Oh...almost forgot. Good morning, FAWTLies!

EDIT: Should have spoilerized the bug story. I didn't realize that was the thing to do, here. ;)

Palmetto Bugs. Ugh. Bad news, man.

We get waterbugs where I am in Brooklyn. Everyone thinks they are cockroaches, but they aren't. I can actually tell the difference, which is sad, but fascinating. It never ceases to amazing me how powerful nature is, even in the heart of the city.

Spoiler:
They're just centipedes. The ones in North America are smaller and less dangerous. These tropical centipedes are more aggressive. They will actually eat mice and frogs, thus the reason for the venom. They actually inject the venom through specially evolved legs that grow next to the mouth. In case you need proof of size on these things.

Spoiler:
Yikes. We had a massive rainstorm two years ago, so I got to see a garden centipede up close and personal on my desk. It was about 5 inches long. I found something to capture it with and flushed it. When my wife got home and I told here what happened, she chastised me for not keeping it around so she could see it.

The worst "bug" incident I know of is when I lived in San Antonio. A friend of mine had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and felt something land on him. He switched on the light to discover it was a scorpion. Luckily he avoided getting stung.

One of our cats used to hunt the damn things. He never seemed to be bothered if he got stung.

That's what it felt like.

Actually, I only stunned it with the flyswatter, but that bought me enough time to grab some toilet paper and flush it.

Where is Solnes? And Moorluck for that matter? I've not seen them much lately.

Spoiler:
And why is anyone afraid of insects? Unless they're the necrotizing venom type. They're thousands of times smaller than us, and are rightfully more terrified of us than we are of them.

As far as Jacobs' experiments are concerned, the picture of the giant centipede on page 43 of the Pathfinder Bestiary is actually pretty accurate. ::double shudder::
