Good Mourning FAWTL! I feel left out that my anniversary isn't until March (it will be 12 years). Things continue to go well here. I almost feel like life is almost getting to something resembling normal. First hockey practice is Saturday night so I am looking forward to that.

With a child in the house 'Normal' no longer means the same thing it used to. :P

Wow. Looks like October is the month for FAWTLY weddings. My wife and I will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary this month. Unfortunately, I'll be out at sea on the actual day, but we'll celebrate when I get home.
Happy Anniversary to everyone! :D
Congrats! Sorry to hear you're going to miss the actual date, though.

JOY.
Nothing like spending $500+ to go back to PA for a three-day weekend and go to two job interviews and have them tell you that because you don't have "recent" experience with .NET, they won't be hiring you.
I hate web development. Corporations have no idea how things get done, what they want or what people's qualifications are.
*sigh* Time to look at going deep(er) into debt to get that Master's in Education.

I hated looking for a new "IT" job. The people doing the hiring are little better than bots who just look for buzzwords and the last time you used something. It's a stupid system that I hope improves with the economy.
For some reason, it never enters into anyone's mind that learning syntax and patterns is easy if you have good coding/design practices. I stopped taking a recruiter's phone calls when, in response to my saying "I'm adaptable, and I can pick up new languages quickly", he said "well, if you wanted the job, you'd already know it.". Oh really. I'd know every f@%*ing language and platform that's out there. Thanks dumbass!
Oops, sorry, that turned into a rant...

The entire IT industry is broken, IMO. We have a good number of people that know what they're doing and adapt to any situation or environment. But we are hired by and work for a group of people that are stagnant for years on end and have no idea how we do what we do.

At my old job, there was a philosophy which had taken hold that basically said that developers pad their times, and the jobs can really get done in half the time quoted. Now, they've shipped a bunch of s++~ty code, and they have, by last count, 10 people devoted to damage control and bug fixes.
If I didn't care about making sure my kids get a college education, I'd definitely be in another career field.

When looking for a new job just tell them you are an avid gun collector who doesn't take rejection well. ;)

I got an e-mail from Scott Gable. It looks like Charnie will be appearing in a Monday Monster feature soon. :)
Hee hee.
I'm actually pretty pleased with this one. It takes one of the goofiest 2E monsters and turns it into something pretty scary. My co-author (whom I won't reveal unless he/she wants me to) gave me an idea which really made it awesome.
I can't wait. :)

Eh. I'm used to most of my head colds giving me "swimmer's ear".
Sorry you've got laryngitis.
