No place around here makes good pecan pies anymore. They always sub corn syrup. It's just not as good. I'm sure it's better in other parts of the country, but here in the corn-belt it's not so great.

Tell ya what, next time we head out to Indigo Farms, or when my mom bakes an extra, I'll pick you and Treppa one up and send it.

NOM! You don't have to do that. I just have to get off my lazy butt and make a pie myself! I just burn everything I bake.

You should try taking it out of the oven sooner.

The friend messaged me because she's talking to him right now. Just particularly depressed today, by the sound, but it makes me worry.

The first episode I saw was DNA. I was just bored and flipping channels and came across this show that appeared to be sci-fi and they did the "double-polaroid" scene. O.o
Still got to love this... It's SP's favorite...

Meh. Sometimes it's all too much.
My partner has been so depressed and agitated about not finding a job since graduating. He's been reaching out to friends just to occupy himself, but they're all to flakey to be any help. He sits at home a lot, which is depressing.
I work a job everyone knows I can't stand and come home tired but feel like I have to entertain somehow. With no time for myself, my writing projects for grad schools are at a standstill. And somehow for all that effort, I never have enough money, and still live paycheck to paycheck.
I can see the way out, sort of, but it all depends on us staying miraculously motivated, which is in shorter and shorter supply lately. Yesterday was bad. It dawned on me in choir practice yesterday that I was only there because they are paying me; I don't enjoy it anymore because my mind is always elsewhere. But I have to find a way to continue to stay strong enough for two.
Anyway, I just needed to vent.
I know exactly where you are at. With me unable to find a job I spent a great deal of time just looking at walls.
I think my partner and I are moving out of this state of being, but it is remarkably difficult to move forward. The house purchase helped immensely but it is still hard to really keep taking the steps required, even if those steps lead us to our desirable goals.
He has been great, for the most part, and has kept things under control. I have been impressed by his ability to manage our lives as the roles were dramatically reversed not so many years ago. But both of us have agreed that the holding pattern we are keeping is not going to be a long term, viable solution for our lives.
I want to wish you luck, but more than that I want to say I hope you truly find the motivation to move forward and to drag him with you. Once you start moving it is likely he will begin as well just to keep up. But that first step is the hardest.

Is there anyplace nearby that he could volunteer? Volunteer agencies often need help, it would get him out of the house, improve his feelings of self-worth, and might even get him networked with people who can aid his job search. It also looks better on a resume than "between college and now I've been sitting around." As a hirer, I respected volunteers as people who were motivated enough to do something with themselves and give back to the community, even without pay.
On the downside, it can sometimes be difficult to find a volunteer agency that simply needs willing hands or that one fits in with well. But it's worth a shot or two. If not, can he knit or crochet? I can send some yarn and he can make us some hats and scarves for the shop!
In the meantime, good luck. It is hard to work at a job you dislike, but knowing that you're the breadwinner is good motivation, huh? Nothing like feeling trapped. Keep your chin up. Things are starting to improve, though slowly. It really *could* be worse.
I second the volunteer route. When I went to work at the local game store, it helped me by getting me out of the house. There were some other stresses there, but those kind of fed my desire to keep moving.

mutter. mumble. grumble
Work computer crapped out today. The guy won't be by to fix it until tomorrow at 0930, which is a half hour before I WAS going to leave for the day to run errands.
On top of that, I now have less than a week to try and organize a trip to San Diego to do an inspection onboard a ship. And the folks out there have limited us to working midnight to 4 am, for safety reasons. So what might have been done in 2 weeks will now take about 3 or maybe 4 weeks. And that's with working on Saturdays and maybe Sundays. In truth, the folks out there didn't want us to do the inspection, but the Commodore kind of insisted, so they're now making it as hard on us as possible. What a bunch of douches.
And the trip will likely mean I won't be able to attend my group's planned gaming weekend, where we were going to finally finish our stalled Age of Worms campaign.

Cross posted from the ask James thread:
Some friends of mine gave there daughter a plush Cthulu when she was young (she called it Lulu). A few years ago she told her parents in a very serious voice when she was in trouble that Lulu wouldn't like that.

Can you do the same in kind? Make it so horrid that they want you out of there ASAP?

I know you will be able to take care of him. Be well and I hope things improve a bit for him.

I have something of an odd question. Does anyone know where I might find a style guide for 3.5 or even Pathfinder? I am looking for something that dictates what terms get italicized, which get capitalized, etc. I used to own one but I cannot find it now.
I really could just type this up on my own, but I am feeling a bit lazy and I still need to focus my energies in other directions. ;)

Unfortunately, not really much I can do, except document every little time the f+$% up, interfere, or simply don't cooperate enough and put it in my report that gets criculated later on in order to make them look as bad as possible.

Actually the pony and I are on pretty good terms. In his defense it was right at Christmas time, so there was lots going on at the time. My in-laws are in San Diego, so there will be more opportunity, I'm sure.

Adam Daigle had suggested on another thread to back convert a module and get that information. He even had a good list of starting points. You might ask him on Chat since he is there a lot.
