Some months ago I had to drop off the face of the planet and out of several PbPs that I was either in or running with little more than a couple poses saying that I was having some medical issues and I didn't know just how long I would be gone.
Well, instead of trying to track down any of the PbPs that are still up and running I wanted to put up a post that it looks like I am back for the long term as things are figured out and its not going to result in me being so overly medicated as I was when they were trying to sort out just what was the matter with me.
Essentially, this post was my way to say that I greatly enjoyed all the PbPs that I was part of and wanted to thank each of the DMs and Players involved. I realize that it has been long enough that those games have either moved well beyond my character or have faded out(with the possibility of my amazingly patient CotCT group maybe still being about), but I still had a lot of fun with each of you and I hope to play again with all of you.
At the moment I'm going to have a -whole- lot of free time. Like nothing but free-time, so I'm probably going to be looking into setting up another game or two to get started either as a player or as a DM. Once I've sorted out the details on these games any of you I have played with before should have a pretty open invitation into any game I am going to run since I know all of you are great players(barring all of you wanting in one game and it getting too full).
In any case, now that I'm done rambling, let me just say its good to be back with the community and hopefully I'll get immersed back with everyone again soon.
Thanks,
-Tarlane

I think Artimus is still kicking around the desolation in Tsar game.

Tarlane -
I don't think you and I have ever played in a game, but as a person who also disappeared for almost a year (in my case it was an auto accident) from the Paizo boards, I feel for you on coming back after so long.
So, just wanted to say welcome back!

Wow, I saw that Tsar was still going strong but I figured Artimus had disappeared almost immediately after my own absence since it was obvious I wasn't coming back too soon. Its wonderful hearing he's still around as I was greatly enjoying the character and the group. If he has a post that is due up for him, please feel free to post as you have been for him. Otherwise, I should be able to catch up with the massive amount of posts tonight and tomorrow morning and get a post up sometime relatively early tomorrow. I really do appreciate you having held a place for me.
Seeker, as for me it turned out to be worse than they had expected and I got piled on with two separate things hitting me at once so while they had diagnosed one thing(meniere's disease) which causes a lot of weird issues and in my case was leading to bad vertigo that they had to pretty heavily medicate me to deal with, and trying to do the reading of the posts was triggering the spins.
After all that was finally controlled they realized that it didn't explain some issues I was having with my throat and so they kept me on the heavy meds for another month while going through a wide variety of allergy and sinus tests to see just what might be causing it. Finally a doc decided to send me to a specialist and a PET scan later it turns out I have Lymphoma.
Looking at it optimistically, that discovery at least let me get off some of the drugs they were using when they thought it may have been other things and have cleared up my head enough that I can pop on here, and the Meniere's seems to have gone into total hiding right now, which I was told can happen for months or years until my body decides to drop its defenses again, but this time it can be treated cleanly and directly since they know what it is.
Being -very- optimistic, if I needed to get cancer, what I got is the best it could be. I'm looking at a miserable process to cure it but there is something akin to a 98% cure rate in the stage I'm in, and other than feeling lousy physically I should be mostly mentally capable from this point on and able to be my old self about here again.
So really, for the next 4-8 months you guys are probably going to be seeing way too much of me since I can't be working but being about here always passes the time and cheers me up. Plus when I haven't been feeling up to doing my in person games for a few months now and have a couple months off of PbP's I've got me some RP cravings and I really look forward to hoping back in with all of you.
Finally, Alex, I appreciate your welcome to me back. Welcome back to you as well. It really can be hard to come back after all this time, and me being a generally really private person its hard to open up and try and talk about why I ended up having to be a jerk and disappear when its something so private as all of this. But I've been around this community for far longer than is probably normal and they are amazingly welcoming and friendly and I count all of them as friends, even those I haven't spoken to before. I hope that you have received as warm of a re-welcome as I have and perhaps sometime we'll have a chance to do a game together.
Thanks again to you all,
-Tarlane

Think I said before, I am very glad to hear you are doing very well, even though you have the big C, it could be a lot worse. Just take care of yourself man. We all want you to stay healthy now, that is the most important thing.
As for the Tsar game, I think i speak for Chris and everyone else, when we say welcome back. Chris did a fantastic job with Artimus. And towards the end of the posts, Mark Thomas aka Mikka had the Post of the year! (hint, it includes Stars and Garters.)

Agree with that. We'll see you around the forums. :-)
Good luck with your treatment; sounds like it will work out well in the long-run (albeit lousy for a while).

Great to hear that you're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak...
Chris has taken good care of Artimus, I think the only surprise is that we've compelled him to pick up a bow and arrow set we found. However that may clash with the Paladin's image, it seems better than meleeing with demonic Hydras :-).

Hey - Star Wars the Rising Shadows died but I would love to have you join my Dawn of Defiance game. We are at a good point right now to bring you in.
Let me know if you are interested. Everyone just advanced to Level 2. You were going to play Nenin Reru the Mon Cal soldier/medic but we can handle just about any class but a Jedi.
Here is the link: Link to Dawn of Defiance game

Sounds good to me Kalderaan, I'll work to get caught up there tomorrow as well and will have a character made. I love star wars and would be pumped to be able to get into one with you. You really were a great GM.
I'll look over what character you have and will try and make one who will fit well in with the rest of the team to balance things out even better.
Thanks for the invite!

Honestly, I wasn't sure of anything Fortune. I just mentioned you two by name because you were the ones I had the most hope that the game would be able to be restored.
If you are still interested, I certainly am, but if it has been too long I definitely understand that and wish you both the best.
You were both great players and I really enjoyed how far we got.
Thanks,

Welcome Back, Tarlane! Glad to hear things are going better now!
Like Wilhem said upthread, Abstract's Rise of the Runelords PbP recently died out. But if you have the time and the interest to pick it up and run it, I'd imagine that it would be easy enough to track most if not all of the other players down.
Also, if you decide to resurrect your Crypt of the Everflame PbP, I'd be interested in jumping back in.
Again, welcome back! I hope things continue to go well.
Best Wishes!
-Max
