You two are just making me feel badly about cancelling my orientation session with the trainer yesterday, aren't you!? Did Julie put you up to this? My wife? Look, I rescheduled for Monday, okay!!! It's a rough week of grading and prep. I'm going!

Seriously, glad you're taking care of yourselves and to hear that it is worth it.

Well Leaf Man, look at it this way. Your body is your vehicle through life. You take your car in for servicing every 3K miles and wash it every once in a while or it turns into a s*!+box real quick, right? I was getting tired of my soma turning into a s~@%box. I decided to personally restrict my intake and exercise five days a week. It's done wonders. And I still get to chow down on baked goods brimming with fruits, sugars and butter when the mood strikes me. But I estimate I am burning 3-3.2K calories a day now, so I have wiggle room for goodies.

She drove a dump truck full of money up to my house, rang my doorbell, walked away, and left the keys in the ignition. I'm not made of stone!!!

Today's phone interview went better. In fact, the guy I talked to said he was going to talk to the recruiter's account manager about offering me a position.

It's a 12-18 month contract, so it'll be something different for me, since I've always worked in "permanent" jobs.

Time to drive to work. I'm taking a half day today, because this afternoon I will be driving my son to Raleigh for a weekend-long Youth Conference.

The mere thought of exercise causes my body to seize. I curl up into a ball and weep like a little girl.

In all seriousness, I have started doing yoga, as a high impact exercise routine could cause more pain than its worth. But, you would not believe how insane some of those poses are. I always feel wonderful afterwards, but during it I am cursing everyone from my next door neighbor to Buddha.

SP and I joined a 24/7 gym last week and have worked out every other day. We both feel much better already, and clothes fit better as well. Working out is great! Everyone should do it to the best of their ability!

I haven't gone to Intro to Social Science in a week because I took too damn long getting a syllabus so I haven't done any of the work for the first half of the class so what's the f%@~ing point, I skipped my Multivariate Calculus test because I had a f!&+ing breakdown right before it was supposed to start and that's no way to take a test over a chapter you barely know at the best of times, I skipped Intro to Humanities because I had a presentation that I procrastinated too long in actually doing so my horrible excuse for a powerpoint only had at best half of what I was supposed to say, and I'm skipping Physics II right now because f@@% physics. I need to get out of here.

In about five weeks, I think. Yeah, at this point I probably could still turn it around if I really buckled down and tried, but I'm not exactly well-motivated. At least last term I had the good sense to wait until after midterms to descend into nihilism.

So, when the site was up, earlier this morning, I was at work and our internet was down. And I really wanted to get a better look at those new minis they were advertising. Then I get home this afternoon, and my internet is working fine, but Paizo is down. ARRRGGGHHHH!

So I went and cut my grass. Now Paizo is back up, I've looked at those minis, and they are really sweet.

Too bad they aren't painted already. Grrrrrrr.....

Has there been a wide spread internet problem toiday?

The USN:

I usually show up early for work and browse the internet until time to start working and then for a while at lunch.

This morning, the net worked at first (for less than five minutes) and then something called "Websense" kicked in and told me that this page (generic "this", whatever I was trying to view at the time...) was off-limits and that either I had too many subscriptions or they had expired, whatever that means. I thought that maybe I was being auto-sanctioned in some way for being online too much. As noted previously, it is nearly all outside of working hours.

But, there is a program that I must go on-line to use. It is an equipment inventory program that is shared by USN calibration labs throughout the US and overseas. The "Websense" did not allow me access to it. At this point I thought that viewing the net might have really gotten me into trouble if I was (were?) going to be disallowed from using the site that my work requires.

:(

Fortunately, there was a link with info regarding how to remove the block to sites necessary for work. I went to that link. It was a "Websense" page telling me that I needed to fill out and submit a pdf and it had a link to the pdf. But, when I attempted to use the link to the pdf, it was blocked by the "Websense".

WTF?

At this point, I was beginning to come to the conclusion that rather than having triggered an auto-punishment for surfing too much, the whole security system was eft up. Then, I noticed that at the end of the "Websense" notification there was a username listed. It was not mine but rather the name of one of my co-workers.

WTF?

As others came into my shop, we began to piece somethings together. No one could get internet access for more than a page jump or two before being hit by the "Websense". It would immediately activate when using an icon link from our "desktop" but would take a time or two before activating if we used one of our "favorites". We also learned that the entire building (with a few hundred people...) was having the same problems with the internet. However, our building-wide LAN programs still worked without trouble. Also, the email system that serves the entire US Navy was down and continued to be all day. WOW!

So, I have no idea what was really happening today with the USN's internet, the NMCI (Naval Marine Corps Internet), or if it was just something localized to my building at the base.

I guess it was probably a coincidence then. The Websense filter hit everyone in our building and the ISP cable that hurt this site probably had something to do with the USN email being down.

We are not allowed to bring any cellphone inside the CIA (Controlled Industrial Area) that has a camera. We are also not allowed to bring any piece of equipment that can store electronic information: no thumbdrives, no electronic cameras (any camera at all for that matter), no laptops, basically nothing that can be hooked up to a computer and download something from it.

A guy who works down the hall from me brought in his laptop last week to show something on it to someone he worked with. It was confiscated by security and he was taken out in handcuffs, but he is back to work now. I don't think his laptop was returned to him. SOP is to destroy such things on site when confiscated by security.

The sailors here get it slightly easier. The brass is aware that many of them have cell phones with cameras and thus they will not get in trouble for having one on their person inside the CIA but they are technically not allowed to have it out while inside. I think many of them do anyways, however.

Oh well, I think I am out for a while.

Bought tickets to see Iron Man 2 at local Cine Capri for Monday today. Looking forward to it.

Boy have I been busy,! Wednesday I was out food shopping and running errands with my mom then mom went to pick up my nephew from day care. While mom was picking him up I was updating my FB profile with lots of new pics. Colin kept us busy Wednesday night and Thursday. He got bored, so we had to take him out. Ended up going to Bakin Robins for Ice Cream and then hit Target (I found a Half-Price Books two stores down from it!)

This morning has been busy with stuff we couldn't have done yesterday due to his majesty's presence. This is the first time I've gotten to relax in the lat 48 hours.

Davi, the worst thing is to give into despair and stop trying. I did that my senior year of college due to some bad things both interior and exterior to my life and I didn't recover mentally for years. Teachers I have found are real understanding if you discuss things with them. Be honest and say you want to do the right thing and my bet is they'll help you quite a bit. Remember they have an intrest in you succeeding. :)
