Ten new publicity images from the TV series.
The ones of Tyrion, Cersei and Jaime are absolutely brilliant. King Robert looks good as well, as does Bran learning archery from Jon and the Night's Watch guys training.

Entertainment Weekly have another piece on the series here, and there'll be new pics in the magazine tomorrow.
* Even non-fantasy fans can get into Thrones, Benioff says, “because it’s not about unicorns and sorcerers. There’s magic in this, but it’s on the fringes.” Quips Weiss, “To be fair, season 2 is going to be all about unicorns. So the characters will all die and be replaced by unicorns. Don’t tell George.” (Note to fans: Seriously, he’s kidding.)

A video blog about the use of swords in the series.
Best bit are the rehearsals between Rory McCann and Conan Stevens (Sandor and Gregor Clegane) for their fight, which looks like it will be more elaborate than in the book.

A full 60-second trailer for the series.
Some great stuff there. We get to see the first changes from the pilot, with them darkening Alfie Allan's hair so he much more resembles Theon from the books and the person being executed is Will, not Gared as in the books and in the unaired pilot. We also get some dialogue from Eddard, Bran, Cersei and Robert.

Not a problem :-)
In new, er, news, Beric Dondarrion has been cast with Australian actor David Michael Scott. This is surprising as there seemed to be an expectation that Beric and Thoros were going to be left until Season 3 to be cast (with Beric perhaps being pointed out on the tourney field with his helmet on and being sent on his mission by message rather than directly). Instead HBO seem to have gone for it in Season 1.
That does leave the question of will Thoros also be cast (he could just show up as one of the BwB in Season 3). It also still leaves Walder Frey as, by far, the biggest character not yet cast.
I'm really interested to see how some of the "early introduced" characters are going to be used, such as Arya's friends from the second and third books.

10 full minutes of material, mostly behind-the-scenes but some new clips as well.
Particularly of interest will be footage of Jaime Lannister (including a conversation with Ned in Winterfell) and a conversation between Ned Stark and Littlefinger, not to mention Viserys Targaryen doing his deluded glory spiel and Benjen Stark telling his nephew Jon how life is on the Wall.

Season 1 of GAME OF THRONES has wrapped shooting. Post-production is already well-underway on earlier episodes, with editing, scoring and CGI work currently underway,
Next important date is 7 January, when HBO present the show on the American Television Critcs' Associaton Winter Tour press junket thing. There's going to be a big panel featuring Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, producers David Benioff, Dan Weiss and George R.R. Martin, possibly others, and some additional footage should be shown. The series itself is scheduled to begin airing on HBO in April. The precise date is not confirmed, but given TRUE BLOOD's debut date in June, it'll probably be either 3 or 10 April 2011.
Meanwhile, the production crew are already beginning preliminary work on Season 2, which will be based on the novel A CLASH OF KINGS (GAME OF THRONES remains the overall series title, however). Whilst S2 has not been officially greenlit, the tight turn-around which HBO wants for the second season means that a lot of contingency work will have to be done so they can begin work almost immediately after a potential greenlight is given in April.

HBO have put up a new video about the use of armour in the show. Interestingly, this is our first good look at Loras Tyrell, plus some more shorts of Gregor and Sandor Clegane and Jaime Lannister. Plus we have our first very brief shot of Barristan Selmy towards the end.

15 minutes of footage from GAME OF THRONES, including several complete scenes, where shown at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press junket in LA last night. Two reactions, plus a chat with GRRM who was present (nothing book-related, it was mostly TV stuff).
The overall reaction seems to have been overwhelmingly favourable. HBO will be releasing a number of new screenshots to coincide with the event at some point over the weekend (possibly tonight). There's also a panel featuring several actors (Bean, Dinklage, Clarke), GRRM and the producers tonight, details of which should be forthcoming.

Confirmed American airdate: GAME OF THRONES will debut on HBO in the USA on Sunday, 17 April 2011. Sky Atlantic will begin showing it in the UK before the end of April.

This new trailer suffers from an excess of The Awesome.
indeed... they nailed that throne... big time. looks like a b@~~+ to sit on, as described in the book... King Robert looks properly fat, as per the book too.
Who's the girl with red hair wearing black? "I know in my bones they did it..." The Aerie b#+*&? or Catelyn speaking about Tyron's perceived murder attempt on Bran?

That actress is playing Catelyn and I guess the same about the context of the quote, or more likely meaning the Lannisters in general.

Very sad news: Margaret John, who was cast as Old Nan in GAME OF THRONES, has passed away at the age of 84. She can be heard in voiceover for one of the trailers for the show. She is best-known for playing Doris in GAVIN & STACEY and has also guested in DOCTOR WHO (both the old and new series).
All of her scenes for Season 1 have been shot already, so she'll still appear in Season 1 of the show. Her character has a small role in the second book so I assume they'll either recast or simply drop the character for the second season.

Pronounciation guide for the TV series. Mostly it seems the same as the books, although 'Ser' is prononuced 'SAIR' for some reason (it's just an earlier spelling of 'Sir'). Harrenhal is also pronounced oddly (HAIR-in-hall). Generally, not too bad.

HAIR-in-hall is how I was pronouncing it in my head as I read. I don't know if that's been contradicted otherwise by GRRM, tho. Could be.

I duuno, when I was reading my brain sorta came up with an easier name "Horror Hall"

A fresh behind the scenes video expanding on the major locations of the series, including some new material. I especially liked Mormont and Aemon begging a doubtful Tyrion for aid.

HBO have hit us with a new trailer - which is excellent - and a new website called The Maester's Path.
The latter is a new interactive puzzle site where, each week from now to early April, a fresh puzzle will be unveiled. Rather like those old LOST alternate-reality games, solving the puzzles requires some strategic googling of other websites. In this case, HBO sent out presentation boxes packed with maps, scrolls and symbols to various critics and bloggers last week. These boxes contained intriguing symbols, which Westeros.org has handily coallated here (the comments from the appropriate entry on the Winter is Coming site contain the solution, but it's pretty easy).
The reward for the first puzzle is our first full scene from the TV series, and an iconic moment from the books :)

A brand-new, longer trailer for the series.
Including the Wall. And a lot more Littlefinger. Awesome.

I just noticed that I've apparently been mispronouncing "Targaryen." I had thought it was "Tar-gar-yen," but Ned Stark pronounces it "Tar-gar-ee-en" in one of the trailers.

First clips from the actual series:
Awesome!

HBO's production blog has the trailer and House Stark stuff up.
The weird Taiwanese thing is only on YouTube, as far as I can tell.

New featurettes about House Lannister and Baratheon.
The Lannister featurette gives us our first glimpse of Charles Darwin as Tywin Lannister, as well as our first good look at Jack Gleeson as Joffrey and Gethin Anthony as Renly. We also get to see a brief glimpse of a certain boar hunt scene and a single shot from a large battle sequence (with Bronn and Tyrion looking knackered).

Charles Dance, Wert. Charles Darwin is slightly past his prime to play Tywin Lannister. ;)
I am sure he would be playing a maester instead.
