Nice work, all of you! And the alts too!
It was a tough, tough field and you guys deserve props and your "forum bling."
In focusing on helping people who didnt make the cut, I dont want to take away from the awesome accomplishment of the top 32.
So come on in and take a bow. If people dont want to see you getting a pat on the back or taking a victory lap, then they dont need to read any further. It is an accomplishment just to get picked top 32, and you dont need to feel ashamed at being proud of yourself for that.
I said last year I couldnt have won RPG Superstar. Heck, I probably wouldnt have even made top 32 (Wolf would have, I am sure). I learned alot last year. Obviously all of you did as well, because there were some really great items. Few were perfect, but many had seeds of greatness in them.
So nice work y'all.
Now get to work on those villains!!!!

Rad ! So Im an alternate ... Which means im in a weird alternate limbo composed of equal parts terror and anticipation but It still can create a villan concept and put it in ...
Whoo hooo !!
Instead of applause us ulternates should get one hand clapping....
Ummm... could us alternates get the title
2009 Pathfinder Alternate or something ...

Well I'm an alt too.
Sorta feels like being on the squad that wins the finals but not getting a winners medal like the rest of the team!
That said it's great getting close but I agree this limbo thing is peculiar. I'll certainly be handing in a villain but I don't envy the top 32 and those noose like deadlines.
I think Clark is right.
In the rush to get comment on items that didn't make the finals we shouldn't loose sight of the fact that it is the final 32 who deserve all the plaudits.
In the end most of us (and I include the alternates here too) simply didn't cut the mustard this year.
I expect many experienced the bowel loosening moments of hope and doubt during the first round. Deep down though I suspect most of us knew where our submission had problems. I have a feeling that getting a generous Judge to pass comment, while interesting, will probably not throw up much new for most.
I guess what I'm saying is while its good to have feedback the show does go on.
I for one offer my congratulations to the final 32.

So the instructions I got stated
" Should you decide to participate as an alternate, your assignment for the next round is to design a villain concept; you can find the details on the RPG Superstar page. You'll also find the entry submission tool on that page. You may submit your entry anytime between now and 2PM Pacific time on January 23."
So I try to go to the submission tool and get
"Sorry
The requested URL was not found on this server, or you do not have permission to access this area. "

Gary's testing the fix for that... it might take an hour or so.

Looks like alternates aren't the only ones having problems:
If I go to http://paizo.com/rpgsuperstar, everything loads up just fine but I can't find any links for a submission tool.
If I hit the "submission tool" link in the email you sent me, it takes me to http://paizo.com/rpgSuperstar (the only difference in the URLs is the capital 'S' in Superstar), but I get the same error message as the alternates.

I wanted to be among the first to say congrats, but I just couldn't access my computer during or after work yesterday.
So, finally, congratualtions to everyone who's in, and better luck next time to the rest of us!
I knew God would test me when I made that comment about the game being as fun to watch and critique as it is to compete in. And here I am!
Next year, I'll watch my 'good sportsman' talk, and try to design a better item as well.
Who am I kidding? I'm gonna work hard to not even qualify for the contest next year.
So, on with the games, and well done to those of you sweating out your villains!

To all Top32, I'm sure the artists at the drawing thread would be more than happy to do your items if you request it. I will!

Only one day to go and Im still getting the error message....Is anyone getting through with their submission ? One day to go ... Freaking slightly ...
No need to freak out. Gary and Vic are aware of the issue. They'll get it sorted out. Otherwise, the whole contest (alternates and Top 32) would have to wait until they did.
In the meantime, work on your villain concept. And...hmmmm...hey, that's what I should be doing now too! ;-D
Anyway, thanks to Clark, the other judges, and everyone's else that's offered up encouragement here and elsewhere. It's a pretty stressful time right now. But fun, too.

Hunh! You know, that's a great idea. Next year, they should give artists an opportunity after the Top 32 magic items get posted, giving them a chance to draw each item. Then Vic or Gary could post everyone's (or the designer's?) favorite as an accompaniement to the item entry itself. That would be pretty cool, actually.

Ditto. I can't imagine that anyone would really want to draw something that looks more or less like an enchanted fishing reel, but if you want to draw Ethereal Tether, feel free! On the off chance that someone does draw this, please post a link to your drawing in the item thread.
Overall, I have to agree with Neil: Great idea!

Feel free to render an ominous ranger standing at the edge of camp, a veil of the midnight vigil like cobwebs over his still, expressionless face. Or the door to an orc-king's pavilion being guarded by like-equipped orcs. Ooh, or veiled knights guarding a roadside shrine. Or a veiled dragon sleeping on its hoard.
Though technically, Paizo owns the veil of the midnight vigil now, so you don't need my permission to illustrate it.

Very impressive work, Hugo. I really like the layering of the tree, leaves, and then single leaf in the foreground. Very, very nice! And to think, I didn't even have to submit an art order as part of my design...
You rock, sir!

I wanted to thank Paizo for having this contest. Since I first heard of RPG Superstar I thought: "Wow, that would be amazing to just get in the finals."
Well I made it in the finals!!! whoot. I literally jumped for joy.
So thank you judges for making me a very happy man. Good luck to the other contestants. May you do wonderful work and may the best man/woman win.
For everybody else, good luck next year, if I can do it, so can you!
This is for the love of the game!
Good luck to us all and God bless.

I don't think that we are in the finals yet. :)
After round 3, we will be in the "finals." The field is still too large right now.

I like it. What I like is it took a couple seconds to make out the face. Whether that was your intent, or the result of having a wisdom of 8 and no ranks in spot, I don't know. I also know I love the pic on your page of the two kissing.

Well, the idea was that the leaves were starting to swirl from the tree to form the face, so its still pretty vague intentionally.
And the Two kissing are non other than Clinton Boomer and Emmy :)

Which explains it. After seeing the PSAs I could never picture Clinton catching a girl ;-)
