Seems that the very nice and lovely Linae Foster is one of the victims of the reorganisation at WoTC. Which sucks. So Paizo should give her a new home, especially as she said she wants to stay in the games industry.
So hire her!
Linae Foster's credibility is questionable considering the debacle over how the GSL release was handled. Unlike others, my opinion of her is not that high.
Sorry, but it is what it is.

WHHAAAATT! That's @#&$!@$#! Linae was like one of the most helpful WotC higher-ups we ever worked with during the magazine days. Don't get me wrong, we love most of the guys over there and, though dreaded, the approval processes on the magazines went smoothly 95% of the time, Linae was always an absolute doll. She was the Brand Manager for D&D Minis for a while and, although I don't think she was ever a big player, she was a huge help getting us what we needed to make the magazines work, getting us exclusive pictures, pushing the Dragon-only black dragon mini through, and commiserating with us on the day to day frustrations of wrangling a corporate behemoth. Sad times. I'm sure I speak for all of us here in wishing her luck and hoping she lands on her feet.
As for working for Pazio, you never can tell, I know she has Erik's e-mail.

Further, by all accounts, she's an excellent communicator. Which is handy for customer service.
Between the announcement and the launch of 4E, many WotC staffers said many things. Just about EVERYONE at WotC said something at one point in time that made me (and plenty others) flip our lid (half the time unfounded, other half was because they needlessly insulted 3E). Lidda was the ONLY ONE that never said anything that made me panic. She's well spoken and never put 3E down, not once. I said many many times during that 10 month time span that she would be the only one handling their public communication. She's that good.

What an interetsing time for WOTC to be laying people off.
Paizo is growing, and it has a very bright future as a leader in the industry. As much as people want it to stay a nice small company, the fact is that to direct all of these lines they have and to GROW financially Paizo will have to grow as a company as well.
While I imagine Paizo was not exactly planning on a growth spurt at the moment, it is an excellent opportunity to snacth up some great talent from WOTC.
Now to be 100% honest, a great BASE to grow from is with Customer Service/Marketing Research. Linae can add valuable skills to that area.
But, of course not my job to run Paizo and do the hiring and maket planning. More just sharing an opinion and bouncing out ideas.
It is just interesting that WOTC is laying off talent when other companies are likely looking for that talent. This is one of the best things WOTC could do for the industry.
I hope.

If Linae and Scott Rouse both go, that's it, there is no more soul at WotC, it's all just corporate drones.
If there is a good place where Linae could fit in, potential personality conflicts aside, I really hopy she finds a new home at Paizo. (Not saying that I think there are any issues or could be any, just saying that we the fans should give Lisa and the rest our full support if it just doesn't work for whatever reason.)

Linae is one of the people at Wizards that I really admired. I'm sad to see her in this situation, and Linae, if you come across this thread, I wish you great luck in whatever you choose to do next.
(And I'll join the crowd of those who'd love to see Linae end up with Paizo, if that's what she and Paizo want.)

I talked to Linae at Comic Con NYC where I was one of the people running the delve for WotC. This was right when the GSL was released and everything exploded, and naturally the frenzied response, particularly on ENWorld came up. My impression:
Linae is just plain nice. Seriously. We are gamers, you know, "gamers", and she is still nice when talking about us and dealing with us! Even with the "angry mob of villagers with pitchforks and torches" frenzying on ENWorld she was still pleasant and polite when we talked.

She wouldn't even need a letter of recommendation, she could just refer Lisa and the rest to this thread!
I'm pretty certain that the folks at Paizo either know her personally or at the very least know some of the people that work with her. It's a very small community.
Whether there is somewhere at Paizo where she would fit or whether she would be a good match personality wise with the Paizo folks is a whole other discussion. I would never presume to tell someone who to hire.

Hmm and I believe a vacancy in a suitable area has/is about to become vacant, interesting no.....
If you're talking about Nick leaving, Josh will be shifting duties to cover most of his role, and the rest will be taken over by our editorial folks. Right now, the only job openings we have—or anticipate having in the near future—are in the warehouse and in programming.

You guys still haven't filled that warehouse position? Geez, I thought about applying for that months and months and months ago.
I've got about eight years experience running a shipping department for a mail-order auto parts business. I just don't know what kind of volume you guys do. I'm getting old and slow.

And where would one find such transcripts? Been looking around for 15 minutes to no avail... I did stumble into the chat room, but couldn't find any transcripts.

Paizo's taking Resumes?
I was the Head of the Warehouse for a small game company (FGU) years ago!
And by 'Warehouse', I mean a small table in the back of the storefront, and by 'head' I mean I was the only employee...
But I can shrink-wrap with the best of them! And nobody stuffs merchandise in a styrofoam-peanut filled box quite like me.
I can even lick mailing labels... took me years to get that taste out of my mouth....

Gary's supposed to look at resumes right after he finishes up some Pathfinder Society tools for the website!

That's reason enough to hire her right there. Pathfinder needs some good prepainted plastic minis, maybe she can help out. ;)

Yeah and wouldn't it be nice if they were not in boxes that you can't see through so that you never know what you are getting. Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually buy the minis that you NEED for your game without getting a bunch that you would never buy unless you were on cheap drugs? They could still have stat cards and you could still play a minis game with 'em if you wanted to but it would sure be nice if you could get the ones you wanted. So Linae if they hire you and you do PF minis please read this. :)

So why was she laid off in the first place?
Now that I think about it, maybe she wasn't so bad after all. Because Wizards seems hell-bent on getting rid of their best people, one way or another.
Despite our differences (me being called punk for being disgruntled, just because my continent was left out in the rain by wizards), I wish her good luck in the future.

Not really sure what you mean by continet left out in the rain? Care to explain please?

He's talking about DDM Organized Play. No qualifiers for the championships at GenCon were held out of the continental US for the first few years, and KaeYoss is in Germany.
And Linae wasn't in charge of DDM OP. That was Ian Richards.

For a time, I was into DDM. A lot. And I'd have loved to get my hands on the promo material (repaints of figures, epic cards, tiles and so on). The thing was that no store in my area seemed to be able to get their hands on the retailer kits that contains that stuff, even though one or two tried. I don't know about the whole non-us world, but here, and probably the rest of Europe (my continent), support for that sort of thing was quite lame.
I never received a decent answer when I asked about it on the forums (not even "we can't give you information about it"), which reminded me of the gnome situation. And when I once remarked that me and my continent were pretty much left out in the rain, Foster said it was the closest she ever came to calling someone a punk, and that they were doing so much (of course, that so much only counts if you're located in the U.S.).
The wizards boards were thick with people who made personal insults towards authors and employees, and apparently, there have been personal threats as well. But the closes she ever came to calling someone a punk was the guy who was pissed about lack of support.
I know that if I had a company and would happen upon remarks like that from one of my employees, they'd get a stern talking-to.
That incident was one of the major things that led up to my complete abandonment of wizards. But well, seeing how much money that saved me, and how much of that money I put into Paizo (glady, I add), Paizo should thank wizards for their practises.
Still, water under the bridge, and I still wish her well for her future.
