I have only one request: a Beta Lite sheet (I love the layout, etc, and your Alpha 3 Lite sheet is my standard right now...)

Great work!

Oh, I intend to make that one too. As soon as I find time for it =). Propably sooner than later though.

The HITPOINT issue is also present in the mini stat block for the Familiar, sorry I didnt mention that before.

There has been many good ones for Alpha releases, does anyone have ones for Beta that you would like to share? Has anyone even found anything that should be changed from alpha sheets?

I haven't, but made a new horizontal Beta sheet anyway. It's basically the same as my Alpha sheet, but with few new features, as new background art, space for DR, SR and different speeds. I also added check boxes to class features as requested. It's fillable and savable.

Pathfinder rpg Beta sheet

Beautiful as usual!

Once again though I'll ask for a "double pager spells only extra sheet", as I see that the space available in the basic one will be filled in a few levels.

Thanks, and happy gaming!

Very, very good overall. Congratulations!

I've got version 0.2 of my Beta-compliant sheet up. I can't get to the big free file shares from work, so it's up at my DSL account and so the bandwidth is pretty limited. If you get shut-out just wait a bit. I'll post it to Hotlink Files when I get home.

PFRPG_CS_v_B_0_2.xls

This version's got some significant updates:

  • Added a Senses section to cover things like Darkvision. Also makes it unnecessary to break out the various Perceptions in the skills area now.
  • Updated the Class entries to accommodate more auto-calcs
  • Added an auto-calc for speed that takes armor, encumbrance, and dwarves into account
  • Cleaned up the attack calcs while adding in iterative attacks
  • Probably some other things I'm forgetting...
As always, feedback (and requests!) welcome...

Just wow :) For my group, this is the sheet I'm going with, though I admit to tweaking it around a bit ::chuckle:: I moved the spells and such to a whole separate sheet, based off of the one that Neceros has, and expanded the feats and abilities section on page two of this sheet, along with adding the magic items by slot again from Neceros' sheet :)

Question I just ran into on this sheet, Erian? On swimming, once I plugged in all my gear and happy numbers, the Swim Check is a -1, though the character is wearing a Chain Shirt that gives an armor check of -2 ... the char is Lightly encumbered, so was curious what the math is for this one (I'm still reading through the Beta Book for all the newness hiding there <G>)

Thanks!

Very welcome :) It was a very hard choice, between your sheets and Erian's ... yours are beautifully laid out and easy to read and understand, and except for wanting to have more lines under craft and perform themselves rather than at the bottom, if we were hand doing our sheets, we'd prolly use them :)

The ability on Erian's to fill 'em in and have so many of the numbers autofill was the deciding factor for our group ;) But we loved your spell sheet so much, and the magic worn part, we had to add 'em in ::chuckle::

Fan Creation FTW!

Thank you.

Customization is definitely the big factor for me, so no problem in tweaking it as you wish. The Swordsage in the party dumped the spells entirely and has maneuver summaries on the back and quick notes on the front. For my wife's Favored Soul, she's get a much shorter skill list on the front to make room for spells in an expanded Special Notes section--these link to here "prayerbook" sheet that auto-calcs all her spells for her so when she levels or an ability sore changes the spells do as well. I intend to include some sort of spell sheet like this in some version. I'm also looking at the same body slot reformat on the back as you've done, keeping in mind the "organize by use" approach to make things flow better. With all these changes, that's why I still label these suckers as v.0.x!

Oh, and I started up my idea of a sheet that will walk you through character creation tab by tab. It'll be a while on that one, though, as I'd have to build in good automation for both classes and feats.

Now, for Swim it should be adding a penalty of 2x your armor penalty (so chain shirt should be -4) as I haven't tweaked that from previous rules. However, I haven't actually validated that this is still a rule in the Beta. I'll check on that...

I'll be honest: I don't know a thing about excel sheets. :)

It looks like the armor check penalty for Swim is no longer doubled in the Beta. Am I missing anything there? I'll including a fix in my next update...

Yeah, from what I've looked through it does look like the doubling penalty is gone from the Beta.

If it's not too much trouble, when you do the fix, could you post what you did and where here so I can just fix that part on the sheets I've filled in rather than refilling? :) That would be awesome!

Also, having a bard in the party I'm typing up, how would I go about adding a fourth line to the autofill in section on page one for Perform? I tried adding a section there and on the Tables page, and couldn't get it to do more ... I just don't know enough about how the sheet is doing all its goodness to figure that out.

Thanks!

D'oh, I figured out how to change the double swim penalty, that one turned out to be easy ::chuckle::

Fixing the armor check penalty for Swim is no sweat (EDIT: as I see you figured out!). Go to cell AG41 on the Tables tab (unprotect the sheet if you haven't already) and change the formula from:

=Armor_Check*2

to

=Armor_Check

Thanks!

This one is trickier. The Perform (and Profession...and Craft) entries in the Table_Skills array use a formula like the following:

="Perform ("&Front!CX72&")"

This points to one of the spots on the Front sheet where you can enter specific text, so that entering kazoo would make Perform (kazoo) one of the drop-down selections for skills and use all the Perform-related calculations (as it stands, the only auto-calcs are Untrained which is set to 1 (Yes, you can use it untrained) and Class Skill (which sets to 1 (Yes) if any of the Class entries is for a class that has Perform as a class skill.

So, all that said if you want more Perform entries, you'd have to either modify the various related areas to accommodate more entries (as detailed below) or alternately you can use the Custom_1 and Custom_2 lines in the Tables_Skills array. This is the easiest method, and you just enter in the relevant cells as:

Skill: Perform skill name
Ability: Cha
Mod: =Cha_Mod
Untrained: 1
Class Skill: =IF(SUM(AI44:AU44)>0,3,0) or =IF(SUM(AI45:AU45)>0,3,0)
Bard: =IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("Bard",Class)),1,0)

Your new "custom skills" will then appear at the bottom of the skill selection drop-down and all the calcs will work properly.

Another option (requiring more work but perhaps more pleasing to the OCD folks, like me, that want things "done right" so to speak!) is to select AB32:AU32 and insert a line, shifting all the rows down. Then copy the Perform data in row 31 down to 32. On the Front sheet, select the last Perform box, insert to shift things down, then copy/paste one of the Perform boxes back over the 4 little boxes that appear (or merge those cells--same effect). This will then get you cells CX72 and CX74 as Perform entries. You'll need to change the formula of each Perform entry in the Tables_Skills array to point at the right cells--they'd read like this:

="Perform ("&Front!CX72&")"

and

="Perform ("&Front!CX74&")"

You can repeat this process as many times as you like to add more entries.

I'm self-taught in using Excel (which is probably obvious to any real pros that check out my stuff!) and fiddling with things like the above is exactly how I figured out how to do all the things in the current spreadsheet...

EDIT: And this self-taught nature is one of the reasons I'm constantly evolving my various formulae as I figure out more efficient ways to calculate things. For example, v.0.3 will use the formula =IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("Bard",Class)),1,0) but will replace, for instance, "Bard" with a simple cell reference to the name at the top of the Table_Skills array. That way if a DM wants he can customize class names without fiddling in all the other cells.

I found a particularly irritating bug (forget to make the Perception break-outs check to see that a rank was in Perception before granting the class skill bonus) so decided to release v.0.3 sooner than I usually would. Other than fixing this bug, it also cleans up several of the auto-calcs and now auto-fills Size and Special Senses based on the Race choice. And of course this one fixes the Swim armor check penalty issue...

On the Race line, the old sheet is protected from typing in anything other than one of the drop down sizes ... how do you change that? For that matter, how do you make such drop downs? :)

It's using Data Validation to compare the contents of the cell to a specified List (in the case of Race, List_Races). If you try to enter something other than what's in the list, it should give you an error (though it looks like in v.0.3 I accidentally enabled the Ignore Blank option which causes some problems). Another option allows you to create an in-cell dropdown based on the target list.

I've fixed v.0.3 to comply with the list for races and also locked the Size cell and turned validation back on (with no dropdown). The reason I use this is to keep somebody from typing, for instance, "normal" instead of "Medium." This is important because other calculations expect specific values.

Side-item, but I wanted to make a note of this for future reference...

In the process of making these sheets we might include Product Identity of Paizo--names of languages, nations, races, etc. Is it permissible to do so? I've actually added an OGL sheet to my latest version to keep things on the up-and-up, but I'd like to clarify this point before getting too specific with Beta information.

Thanks!

P.S. Oh, and I know most of the Paizo folks are away at GenCon, so no rush...

Yes, I'm replying to myself...but it's because I found this answer that I believe applies here as well.

So, once the community use policy comes out, I'll review and customize my character sheet as possible to include more specific Pathfinder/Golarion information such as nationality, languages, etc.

Oh, and v.0.4 is well underway. This is a big update, automating the calculation of BAB, base saves, skill points, and hit points by class/level selection. Might be ready today.

Wow! This is great. I just started plugging some stuff in and it looks like it was just fine. One thing: it would be great if there was a DM stat bloc generator as well! I always find myself as a DM in a spot where auto calc character sheets are great, but i can't have 2 dozen characters sheets around for each game. :)

Also, I think everyone did a great job on these character sheets. If I still ran a table top game (instead of an online one) I would totally use some of these for player sheets.

Great job everyone!

Thanks! That's the old one (3.1 versions back) but I've just finished the v.0.4 changes! These include:

  • Major "clean-up on aisle 7" for the Tables sheet to make it more efficient
  • Moved HP and SP entry to the Tables sheet (for auto-calcs below)
  • Improved auto-calc and auto-display for racial save mods/conditions
  • Added auto-calc for BAB and base saves
  • Improved auto-calc for skill points and hp
  • Fixed the Senses section to not double-dip on Class skill bonus (it now shows the full bonus for each sense)
  • Red highlight indicator for skill points and such when you go over the max allowed
  • Refit the Special Notes section to the same size as the 2nd column on the Back sheet (allows easier cut/paste of important info)
  • As always, tweaking formulae to make them more efficient
Pathfinder RPG Character Sheet v.0.4 (xls)

I hadn't thought about a DM stat-block generator, but I could throw that in the mix. As a heads up, my next major versions are focused on class automation (v.0.5), feat automation (v.0.6), and spell automation (v.0.7). I'm taking requests after that...

HP coming out low. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?

Tell me what you did and what you got and I'll see if there's an error. This sheet assumes (or is supposed to, at least!) you get max HP at first level, then half HD+1 every level thereafter. So, a Bbn 5 with a Con of 16 would come out to 55 hp.

Inputing a rouge, gnome, level 2. (no ability stats automatically changed due to race but skills change OK), starting HP is coming out to 3. left point buy at standard. increasing CON to 14 raising HP by total of 4 as it should.

everything seems to work except HP and racial adjustments to abilities. seems to get 3 hp at 1st level, then increases only by con bonus for additional levels.

Hmm, I just put in a Gnome Rogue 2 and got 13 hp. With a Con 14, the HP goes up to 17. Start from a fresh sheet and just change the following fields:

  • Race = Gnome
  • First Class = Rogue 2 (this is actually in the cells labeled Class_1 and Level_1 to be specific)
  • Con = 14
If that still comes out to less than 17 something's wacky and I'll have to think some more...

Note that the sheet doesn't auto-increase/decrease ability stats based on Race. Rather, it takes Race into consideration for the Point Buy. So a Gnome with straight 10's in ability scores would show as having 17 points left to spend. This is by design, currently, as the actual ability score cell is a "free entry" cell so you can put your scores in as desired. The math should come out the same (so if you set the gnome to 8 Str, 12 Con, 12 Cha, he'd have 15 points left to spend). In the "walk you through character creation" version of this sheet, I've flipped the logic so you generate ability scores first, then apply race mods. But this one's not even ready for a v.0.1 yet...

There's the problem - I didn't see the field adjacent to the favored class, or that it auto-generated the 'char/lvl' field next to the race. It works fine.

You may remember we talked about this before in the Alpha sheet thread: Can you make a 8.5x11 portrait oriented sheet? Most people I know prefer their sheets in a standard 8.5x11 format so you can put it in a notebook etc. The landscape orientaion is actually kind of awkward (for me anyway)and is pretty much a deal breaker, which is a shame because, like I said, your sheet is by far the best one I've seen!

Any chance you could do this?

Thanks so much - great work!

Thanks again, Marc! I've actually already started working on portrait sheet, but it's a lot of work 'cause the whole design has to be done from the start. But It's coming =)

I've got the Barbarian class info in as a starting point for my v.0.5 update. The classes are going to take quite some time to get in place, though. Anybody feel like doing some data entry to help me along, I'll welcome the assist!

Hi, KaeYoss. :) My only real critique is that the Spells section does not allow for the sheer number of spells that an adventurer will be using on any given day; the space restrictions are too great unless I'd be writing tiny, and off the lines within the box.

Beyond that, if you would consider re-arranging the location of the text boxes for Belt, Cloak, Gloves and Rings, that would make more visual sense, as they'd be closer to the actual parts they are keyed-to. Cloak, pointing to the feet is really weird. ;)

I'm making an alternative version of my sheet, which will be portrait. I still haven't finished it (sorry Marc...), but I don't think it's not as good as landscape version. I'm absolutely sure that if I update my sheet, it will always be the landscape sheet first!

Then I will skip the Portrait iteration and wait for the next Landscape iteration. In the meanwhile, I'll keep using your first one.

Best to you,

I did a Character Sheet for Beta version of PFRPG and made also a D&D 3.5 version:

PFRPG-Beta.

D&D 3.5.

I would love to get some criticisms!

Boo! Hiss! This stinks. Go home.

Just kidding.

In fact, it reminded me that I wanted to do a Landscape Format sheet myself, and you doing one before me incited me to do my own conversion.

My landscape sheet (as well as my old portrait sheet, an old 3.5 sheet, my Crimson Throne Campaign Guide, and all the Pathfinder Wallpapers I've done so far) can be admired at My Page

Salama:
I really loved the Rise of the Runelords & Curse of the Crimson Throne specific sheets you did for 3.5. Any chance of having them (and a Second Darkness) updated for Beta? That would be awesome!
Cheers

Salama, i love your character sheet. but i have one issue......

my character is multiclassed cleric/wizard and i dont have enough room for all the spells (and there is more info on the sheet than i need).

i tried editing the sheet, but due to my ignorance of how to use Adobe Acrobat, i cant get it to work the way i would like.

any chance of me sending you a jpeg of what i need the sheet to look like to you and you make it work????
