Enterprising artists,
I would love to see a map as described on pg 41 of HoA! :) Just an idea.
Best.
HA! I knew this message board post would pop up the instant I read that there was a globe in that room.
SOME day we'll get a map of the rest of the entire planet of Golarion done. Some day...

I believe you, James, but what we really want is an actual globe. Brushed metal oceans with gold leaf landmasses. Or an inflatable beach ball. Whichever is more profitable for Paizo.

I could see a Golarion globe as the centerpiece of my study. Of course, a beach ball would be nice too.

Erik said in one of the original chats it was a possibility if you sold enough gazetteers then you'd look at making globes....

Dude. A few weeks back James and I had one of the highest NERD moments of both our careers, spending like an hour trying to figure out where the equator is on Golarion in relation to the map from the Gazetteer. (Why would we need that info ya think? :P) By the end of it Erik, Sarah, and Davis were standing around my cube just laughing at us.
But we *sorta* succeeded!
Turns out that--assuming for reasons of sanity that Golarion is approximately the same size as earth--the equator is just a little under a 1,000 miles south of the Gaz map's southern-most point. (We had exact numbers... but they've been lost to time and poor organization; If only man had a way to convey his thoughts into a physical medium. Sigh.) That also means that the Mana Wastes are pretty much right on the Tropic of Cancer. Running off those half-remembered measurements, we decided/realized two things: First, there will be more detail above the snowy area to the map's north. And second, only about... 1/12 or so of the globe is currently mapped.
All that being said, don't take this as gospel. We've still got a lot of work to do on Golarion and still have a number of big decisions to make, but piling assumption on assumption, that's what we came up with. In fact, the only truly solid conclusion that came out of extrapolating the dimensions of a hypothetical world is that we're a bunch of big damn nerds. :P

I was trying to figure out the seasonal shift in the length of day for Korvosa for my CotCT PbP. That is VERY valuable information.
Of course, I don't know Golarion's orbital inclination either. Judging by the 'Topic of Cancer' comment, it's the same as earth's?

And this is exactly why we love Paizo employees. They're as nerdy as the rest of us! :)
It's true... ~_~ For example, yesterday our moment of pseudoscience was a logarithm that charts the Pansyassness of a variety of mythological beings. Submitted for your approval.

Well - at least you didn't go completely over the edge and make it into a PowerPoint presentation...

They're geeks/experts, not sadistic managers/assassins ("Death by PowerPoint").

Wes, Mike, and others who might be in-the-know:
I may have missed it in the "Guide to Korvosa"--what's the seasonal change in the area, as it would relate to Earth? I'm tracking the days in the campaign so I can insert festivals and other events from the Guide, and also add some flavor by introducing a new day with its Golarion equivalent, but as I read further into the adventure path, I'm wondering how the weather and such would/should change.

I am totally on board with both. I want the actual globe for my DM chamber, and the beach ball for use at sessions not in my own home.
In the mean time... how about a printable globe map (I just want to see where all the land masses & seas/oceans interact with each other for now) that can be cut & taped for a standby model. :)
