Hey guys,

This is your Dagobah. The Colonel, Jack, and the dude you're going to meet downstairs: they're Yoda, Obi-Wan, Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, or whoever... It's all the same: the mentor archetype.

You'll come away from this with some new skills, so if there is a feat (feats) you see your character having let me know, they're going to be free. I'll pick them if you want, they'll probably be stuff like weapon focus and double tap.

The tutelage has begun, have fun with it.

And by the way, for everyone who knows Campbell's Hero's Journey - the next archetype up is often the underworld.....

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

I might go ... Point Blank Shot and Quick reload?

That will be the first free feat for Johnnie, Mike, and Sarge. There will be two for each of you.

Damn, you know I have been putting on a -4 Penalty every time I shot that Beretta Sniper Rifle, because I thought I was non-proficient. I didn't realize that it came under the purview of Personal Firearms Proficiency. I thought it only counted for Handguns. Sucks to be me. =(

Well Sam would be a Foul Temptress, I would be Uncouthly Foul Tempter, although I have no idea how I would begin to tempt you... "Would you like some lollies?"

We have no alternates (do I, can't recall.... nope). I never even posted in the pbp connection section, just recruited a few people from games I was in. Flash wandered in and asked.

I seems to be going well, good players. I'm a little rough on the pbp DMing but I'm trying hard and Moth is sharp on the rules.

It's entirely up to you. We can write you in anytime.

Haha.

Hey Moth have you seen any tripod rules for sniping? I think it should have some kind of effect similar to the scope and I've heard of such rules but haven't seen it in the RAW.

Mothman wrote:

Excellent. I'm asking because I want to write it in somehow like I've started doing with Mike and Sarge.

I don’t know of any bonuses for using bipods / tripods, except that if you’re using a longarm it could potentially leave one hand free, and that some (most? all?) heavy weapons require a stand to use effectively.

It seems reasonable that some sort of bonus would apply for using a bipod / tripod for sniping, but I can’t find it written anywhere.

Maybe … (making this up) if you spend a full round action lining up your shot the tripod provides you with a +1 equipment bonus to the shot (which may or may not stack with the bonus from the Dead Aim feat)?

I wondered why you kept missing! Didn't look at your working, figured it was crappy rolling...

Sure I'll go with that, and I'll take it stackable.

Excellent. I'm asking because I want to write it in somehow like I've started doing with Mike and Sarge.

I had a look and I'm thinking the same for Sam.

Either:
Point Blank Shot/Quick Reload
or
Point Blank Shot/Precise Shot.

I'm leaning more towards PBS/QR, from the simple reson that if anyone is going to be in Close Combat it's going to be Sam or Patrick, so Precise Shot may not be as useful for her.

For her Level 3 Feat (if/when we get there), I am thinking Two-Weapon Fighting or Weapon Focus (Competition Tonfa). Probably T-WF, because I'm not sure how much of a chance she'll get to use the Tonfa (as much as I'd both love and dread to) by then.

I've got some plans to get some hth combat in.

Two free feats? Are Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot OK?

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

yeah PBS and QR sound about right to me.

Some of you will need personal firearms proficiency for the first free feat, which leaves only one other.

Without Personal firearms proficiency you guys have -4 with rifles and handguns.

You'll all be up to level three soon so you'll have another feat before long.

Male Humanoid Expert 2 / Magewright 1

Bipods are in Weapons Locker (lots of goodies in that). +1 if it's an extra, required but no bonuses if the weapon is huge.

Yes, I knew I saw it somewhere....

Thanks Beeler!

Yeah, to me that version of Dawn of the Dead is really a quintessential Zombie movie. It's exactly what I imagine every Zombie Plague/Armageddon Scenario to be like.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

That movie gave me nightmares for days.

<====Still watching.

That pregnant woman... seriously sick stuff.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Yeah I won't spoiler it, but I suffer from zombophobia. I think watching the original b&w Night of the Living Dead in 8th Grade (put on by my SCHOOL no less!) might have something to do with it. After watching the new Dawn of the Dead, every bump I heard was a zombie trying to get in my house.

Very funny Rad.

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

Man, now I am gonna have to go and find that movie again so I can watch it and get in the mood. It's been a while (hmmm, 4 years maybe)
If I can find it I should be able to pick it up on the cheap. Finding it could be a problem though, and I'd rather not rent it when I can probably buy it for a couple of bucks more.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

No way I'm ever watching that movie again. I still have scenes of it scarred into my frontal lobe.

Dark Archive

How about mutants?

The Hills have eyes movies sure are creepy.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Mutants dont have the visceral gut-punch that zombies have for me. I always wonder about a zombie plauge, and just how twisted some folks are out there with biochem labs ...<shudder>

Survivor To-Do list.

Get generators and possibly better gas masks from Grainger supply. Who knows what else they'll have there....

Load up on guns, get educatin' as to their proper functioning.

Score some food.

Save Aunt Terri.

Kill zombies.

BTW

I don't know what you get when you hit my music links, but I've got Quicktime set to play streamed mp3s and when I hit the links the songs start up automatically after a few seconds.

So are you getting on the zombie train Beeler?

For what it's worth I reckon it'd be cool to have you on board (assuming Kruel doesn't mind playing with 6).

---

So there's been a pit of a flurry of Modern games here recently, mostly with a post apacolypse and/or zombie thing (these things tend to come in waves don't they?). What we need next are some Alien and/or Predator themed games ... or maybe something Buffyesque ...

OOO, Oz, damn how'd I forget him?!?

The Scoobies are way cool. I always wished for a spin off series with Giles, Oz, Spike and Willow forming a band and travelling around the place playing gigs, solving crimes and killing monsters.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I'd love to see an expansion on the episode where we are introduced to Anya as the Vengance Demon. The one where Cordelia gets sent to the alternate world where the vampires are in charge of Sunnyvale. Willow as a S&M vampire queen was hilarious (in a scary kinda way)!

Yeah, and Oz, Xander, Giles etc are .. what are they called? The White Caps? The Browncoats? (I know, that's Firefly) Something like that.

Yes ... it's kind of more interesting without the Slayer in a way...

I believe it was the 'White Hats' and they had a big van they worked out of. 'Course it's been a while since I saw that episode, but I have the whole series on DVD ...HMMMMM

Oh, there was a follow up sequel to this one where Anya tricks Willow into opening a portal to that world to get her McGuffin back. It had one of the funniest Willow lines of all time:

Willow: Where did you lose your amulet? Under the sofa cushions in Hell?

*SNICKER* makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Changed my mind: Personal Firearms Proficiency and Two-Weapon Fighting.

SO I think just Rad needs to pick one and Sam has to decide.

Shiny/Mike - Personal Firearms Proficiency and Two-Weapon Fighting.
Mothman/Judd - Point Blank Shot and Quick reload?
Flash/Sam - Either: Point Blank Shot/Quick Reload or Point Blank Shot/Precise Shot.
Sarge - Personal Firearms Proficiency and either PBS and QR
Johnnie - PFP and ????
