Watching "28 days later" and "28 weeks later" to get into the proper mood.
June 9 is a holiday here.
I've seen "28 Days later". Nicely done. Haven't yet gotten around to "Weeks" yet though.
I am halfway through "I am Legend" atm. (Yes, half-way... trying to get time to watch a full movie these days is next to impossible).
The Dawn of the Dead re-make also sets the scene really well. Haven't seen the original though.

Just so you guys know the style of my posting for future reference...
That's fine, I don't much worry about posting styles and have no desire to standardize everyone.
I mean, I don't even have my own system for posting.
Invisible Castle or not, no worries. If you do use IC when you enter the dice to be rolled please use a colon because the result is easier to read.
Like this: "1d20+5;1d8+2"
You get: 1d20 5=22, 1d8 2=3
Enter this: "1d20+5,1d8+2"
You get: 1d20 5,1d8 2=[1, 5], [2, 2]
On the latter I have to do the math.
I actually like this site because the output is clearer. You just can't verify and can't add your bonuses as easily.

Fantastic game that I'm really gonna have to follow. I've never played Modern, but you all have me interested. Great theme, great characters, great maps, great soundtrack - and I'll add one, when Dave was making his run up the roof of the burger joint, War Pigs (FNM version) came on my player. Nice fit.
I have to say, living in the DC area through 9/11, Malvo the Sniper and Anthrax scares, you're given me the shivers. Creepy, creepy ala "I am Legend" (I prefer the book) or even Stephen King's homage, "Cell." I think it's the whole, how to we deal with this attitude - stock up or get out?
=)
In some ways running this is easy, and that was actually my goal (I even ditched the alias for the purpose of simplification). But we've got Google maps, online phonebooks, the Ace hardware catalog....
In other ways it's vexing. Trying to plot what might happen is a head-scratcher. Giving everyone a decent chance while damning the rest of the world tests my ability to produce a realistic context. Thank God for Hollywood's zombie fetish; they've tested pretty well all the zombie devices.
War Pigs. Perfect. I have the perfect moment.
Muahahahahah!

Well I finished I am Legend last night. Wasn't expecting that ending (I haven't seen the others; Omega Man, etc...)
Damn, I hope the Zombies aren't gonna be the +4 STR, +4 DEX +10' Speed Monstrosities from that Movie. I want the Shambling "Brains" Zombies of yesteryear please... I would like Sam to survive at least some of the story. ;)

But then you don't want to get bored, either.

isn't that Homer Simpson's sector at the nuke plant?
Edit: I just Googled to check (YAY I guessed right!) and found someone beat you to the punch on the band name (MySpace linky ..only one: HERE

d20 does not lend itself well to using hit locations or called shots, but what good is zombie that doesn't have to be hit in the head, I ask you?
So I find myself in a quandary. Called shot systems usually call the head a -8 to hit. With 15 years of tournament fighting I find this to be ridiculous: I am a devoted head hunter. It's actually hard for me to NOT hit people in the head.
It's diminutive, 6" to 12".
So in this game called shots will be allowed when someone is using a weapon with which they have proficiency for the very low price of -4. With hand to hand weapons I reserve the right to change a successful head shot to an arm shot if the target is not flat footed and successfully makes a reflex roll (blocks the swing with his hand).
I do not intend to use this against PCs. Shit is going to be bad enough already.
What happens when you hit their body? You don't need to know.

Sounds good. Yeah, you gotta have head shots in a zombie game.
By now people have probably noticed that Dave swears a fair bit. If anyone is uncomfortable with the language, I'm happy to tone it down or cut it out. Let me know, I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable (it's been pointed out to me before that Aussies tend to be more comfortable with swearing than some other cultures).

Haha.
I should be living in Australia.

Oops ... I didn't see this before posting my next roll ...can I call a shot one Zombie #1 (or as I like to call him ...Eggbert) to finish him off so that we can return to senseless looting?
PS: Billzabub ...fantastic linky on C&H .. one of my all-time-fave cartoons (have the hardcover collection in my library, wife has good Chrismas sense)

That's because I posted it after. On purpose.

Mate, I think Canadians and Aussies have a lot in common. Almost without exception all the Canadians I've met have been very cool people in one way or another.
Not a lot of swearing by the civilized segment of us - you really do have to watch your tongue in the Great White North. But yes, a lot in common.

Game thread really made me laugh today:
... ripping out the page with the address.
That's so considerate. I'm going to make you an honorary Canadian.
"Pat, where are the keys?!" Johnnie seats himself behind the van's wheel.
"In the ignition!" Patrick yells back, keeping an eye on the zombie and readying another hack.
The panic is coming through very well.

This game would make a b&*&&in' movie. And just to be the first one to say it:
Spoiler:Zoe Bell as Samantha.
I can see that. Not quite as "cutesy" as I pictured Sam's face to be, but I can definately see it.
I was thinking more along the lines of Hannah Spearritt, the picture on the far right is exactly the way I picture Sam. But she probably wouldn't have quite the same skillz as Zoe, although she's not bad in an actor/martial arts sort of way. (I probably associate Sam with Hannah because I've just sat and watched 2 seasons of Primeval in the last couple of weeks).

Heh, I loved than movie. =)
Kruelaid:
Viral Deathspawn (Template)
p.51 of d20 Apocalypse
It basically is a "pass disease by attack/death/infection" type Zombie, rather than the standard Zombie portrayed in the d20 Modern Source Book. If that's not what you are already using for your Zombies you should check it out.
Cheers

WTF is this?
Is that like one of those Chinese Tumors that weigh more than the person they're attached to?
