I just wanted to point out that you won't see anybody working on our stuff who is a current Wizards of the Coast employee because WotC doesn't allow their staff to freelance for any other company other than Wizards. So if you ever see Bruce Cordell, Mike Mearls, or Andy Collins working on Paizo stuff, you will know that they are no longer gainfully employed at WotC. Now, I want to emphasize that this policy is not directed at Paizo, but rather at all other companies.
-Lisa
Lisa,
if WotC staff is prohibited from freelancing outside WotC, does this mean that Rich Baker, whom I've read will write/has written some stuff for the Pathfinder Campaign Setting, is no longer an employee of WotC's?

I think that was the classic "Baker Switch" of the last few years, and that there might have been some confusion over Rich versus Keith Baker.

Huh? Richard Baker writes for Pathfinder?

Im just curious, did this policy happen when 4e was announced? Because Bruce Cordell (who I think is Awsome!)did Hyperconcious and a couple other things for Malhavoc Press awhile back.
It came into being a couple years ago. Long before the 4e announcement but (obviously) after Bruce wrote for Monte.

Well, he's written the novel Blackstaff, has another FR novel called Blackstaff Tower coming out, and is posting on these very boards about playtesting his half-orc cleric/sorcerer with the Pathfinder rules . . .Well draft him into writing something, dammit!
Don't let him get out of here without turning in a manuscript or three....
No, I'm my own boss at present. While I have written two novels for Wizards, I left WotC a little more than eight years ago and am now a mercenary scribe for hire. As Andrew noted, I'm teaching classes on adventure game design and world building here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but I'm always looking for more freelance work.

That sounds like a class I'd like to take.
I'm still looking forward to Blackstaff's Tower... even if it's been corrupted by Spell Plague.

Mike? James? Erik? Lisa? If anyone from Paizo is reading this thread, seriously think about bringing Steven into the mix. As a small-time member of the freelancer pool, my opinion doesn't necessarily matter all that greatly, of course. But I think Steven is easily one of the best, most detailed world-builders out there. And out of everyone mentioned so far, I'd really like to see what he could develop for Golarion. Regardless, it's fantastic just to know he's participating in the playtest.
Just my two-cents,

This kind of reminds me of the old Hollywood system where actors and directors and others worked exclusively for one studio.
Do they also keep chains around their ankles nowadays?

As another small-time freelancer, I second that call and I'll even go so far as to suggest having a motley gang of hungry imps abduct Steve Schend and lock him in some sort of magical binding circle and make him do something for Pathfinder at some point. Money and asking nice works too I suppose. But I'm partial on the gang of imps idea.
But on a more serious note, I've always liked alot of the stuff you've done Steve (awesome work with FR). :)

We're working on fixing that. ;P
I love this thread! When someone posts in it, and it shows up on the top ten column on the right side of the blog page, it looks like the thread is suggesting that person. It's a pretty inclusive and accepting thread looking at it from that perspective.
Yay, I'm going to post to it again, then! :D

I can't believe no one's mentioned Jeff Grubb yet. I loved his work since I was a kid.
The guy's full of good ideas. I think he did an article for the second issue of Kobold Quarterly recently.
Anyways, I'd like to see his name on a Pathfinder product. Just figured I'd throw that out there since everyone's naming their personal RPG design dream teams.

Big fan of the Grubb myself.

World Building was an excellent experience; the binder of excellent materials produced by Steven for the class has a place next to the PHB on my gaming shelf. I would've loved to have been in the current Game and Adventure Design class, too, but am keeping busy with our infant daughter at home. At least I still get to hang out with Steven and other friends from the classes as I'm DMing the weekly playtest in which he's involved!
Lisa, Erik, other good Paizo folk: please ask some of the other RPG veterans that you've tapped to help craft the growing world of Pathfinder and Golarion lore, and I'm sure they will add their voices to the others who've spoken highly of Steven here.

PF15.. now this I did not know! Very exciting. :)

Now you're just teasing me. It's the longest-held pdf file I've ever had, and I wish they had a LULU-type POD service back in the day I got it! But, yeah, it's just fantastic stuff.
For those who've devoured the new Gazetteer, and read about the Nex/Geb rivalry, you'll find a few GH echoes there. Not only the small-scale Invoked Devastation/Rain of Colorless Fire echoes, but in Ivid the Undying, check out the Rinloru/Winetha arcane rivalry (complete w/ necromancer as 1 of the archmagi) :)

Yes! Set Shemmy to work on your Daemons and you won't regret it!
As a side note, it's starting to feel like PF is a black hole; attracting RPG luminaries in ever widening circles. I can barely contain myself thinking about the HC campaign setting this August.

Squee...*dies*
That is awesome news.
Isn't it great that so many of the fan favorites from TSR and WoTC are now working with Paizo?
We're merely suggesting that Paizo should round up all of the remaining ones and set them to work immediately :)

Good, then get yourself hired out by Paizo and write some pathfinder.
Just don't kill anyone critical to the setting :P

Actually, IF Sean K Reynolds is right, he got injured in a really bad car accident, and can't physically work anymore. That's too bad, too.
(source is Wikipedia, take it with a grain of salt: Here
I'm probably thinking of that or mixing him up with someone else. I'd hate to be starting a false rumor that he had passed so please discount my earlier post.

Call me a cheesy bastard, but I'd like to see Tracy Hickman involved. He's just got a flair for the epic. I also like Chris Perkins a lot, but alas he works at WotC too.
I would also like Tracy on board because he lives 50 miles from me and is friends with the owner of my local game shop. I would love the opportunity to pick his brain about PFRPG.

I was unaware of this thread - if I had known about it I would not have started a seperate thread regarding the awesome Steven Schend.
Sorry
I have to say, looking through this, it reads like a "who's who" of the gaming industry - quite an impressive lineup, indeed.
One other suggestion - George Krashos is an incredible loremaster of the FR setting - probably the only person who knows nearly as much minutia about FR as Ed Greenwood himself. He expressed some interest to me awhile back about the Pathfinder setting (which I reccomended to him), and last I heard he was going to be "picking up some of the books".
Get him involved, and you'll have a walking Golarion encyclopedia at your disposal. His eye for continuity is second to none, and he also already has writing credits for Paizo, back when they ran Dragon.
