off site for most of this weekend, beautiful weather on east coast for a change and spend most of it outside away from computer. Sorry if I didnt keep up with the action.
Pat, I saw your post about the Keep adventure. Did you buy it, too?
Still trying to understand this new system. Everything seems soooo overpowered. Haven't read the DM guide (except the mostly similar game rules in the handbook for running the adventure) but have examined the player's quick start. Still having trouble getting a grip on the superpowered nature of the pregens. I mean, I dislike dying at 1st level but, wow, these characters are resilient!
Have you had a chance to run it?

Yes, I've got the adventure. I was going to start running it for a home group tonight, but it fell through.
I generally like the look for 4th edition, certainly enough to give it a good try. The characters seem superpowered by comparison to 3rd, but a lot of that may be dealing with our being used to the 15-minute adventuring day for spellcasters. But yes, there is general power inflation -- a significant number of the opponents have triple-digit hit points.
I may try running it as a PBP once the main books come out and people can make their own characters. However, I suspect the "compressed" method I've been using for combats here won't work as well in 4th, slowing down PBPs -- too many "reaction" actions. We'll see.
If I do offer it as a PBP, I'll give y'all first crack.
EDIT: Note that this particular discussion thread is not the venue for trying to persuade anyone else about the relative merits of editions. I imagine y'all are cool enough that I don't need to say this, but I want to be sure ;-).

What the hell. It's Summer vacation, I'll do it.
If you want to play, say something here in the next 24 hours and you're guaranteed a slot; I'll post in Gamer Connection after you all have had a chance.
The only requirement is that you somehow have a (rules-compliant!) 1st-level character, from wherever you can get one. I have the pregens for the adventure, of course, and would be willing to e-mail the relevant pages (only) to a player who doesn't have access. There are also pregens from DDXP floating around in the ether.
I've also got a brief summary of the quickstart rules I can e-mail.
The adventure is pretty hack-and-slash, for what it's worth, but we can get our feet wet with 4th.

There's still stuff to do in the fishery (at least two rooms you haven't been in), but go ahead and level up. XP: 1160.
Classes that memorize spells still need to study/pray to fill any new spell slots.
Also, I usually give people the chance to rebuild characters (within reason) after the first big fight, so if you want to do a different feat or what-have-you, that's fine, just let me know.
HP for level 2 are high average (i.e., 3, 4, 5, or 6 on d4, d6, d8, or d10).
Let me know when you've got your profile updated.
But keep playing, meanwhile!
Also, as best as I can tell, LongreachJones hasn't been on the boards in three weeks. If he hasn't turned up by the time y'all are leaving the fishery, I'll just say Avalon considers his vengeance complete. I'm not inclined to worry about replacing with a sixth character at this point, but I'm open to input.

OK - character updated.
Since it looks like we are going to be short a fighter, I decided to go the two-weapon route. I'll try to use my bow when possible, but at least this gives a little more melee muscle, in case it is needed.
I'm sorry to see Longreach/Avalon go. I have no issues if we decide to go with five or add someone else.

I still have to update Leliestraat. Please bear with me, I am in the final two weeks of the school term. Final essays, final exams, final averages, graduation, etc. Plus 7 hours in a 95 degree classroom with kids who would rather be anywhere but in final preps. No excuses, I intend to keep up, just haven't had time to update the sheet (or read much of the new 4th edition books).
Thanks for understanding.

dudes,
so sorry
in my haste to leave this weekend,
I neglected to post my absence.
I am away this weekend and will, likely,
be away until Tuesday morning.
in Maine for family reunion/nephew's birthday.
has hoped to be able to hit the site with iPhone
but this has been my first moment.
would've crashed the car if I had tried to type this.
All apologies.

Pat, can you inform my comrades in the Keep?

Will do.
Interesting -- I just arrived in New Hampshire about two hours ago!

That is interesting! I had forgotten that you were on the East Coast. I was in Bar Harbor, Maine (where I stayed for a couple of nights) and my sister lives in Orono, Maine (where my nephew's birthday party was). I brought my books but only cracked the 4e Monster Manual for ten minutes on Sunday night.
We could have hooked up for a delve session! lol
I hail from Rhode Island, where I am glad to be back. Six and half hours in the car, each way. And I drove every mile. Though I did listen to the Punk Rock channel on satellite for most of it!

Hey gang...sorry for my small absence. A combination of working right through the Independence Day holiday and a last-minute, out of town trip on Saturday-Sunday left pretty much beat and resting on Monday.
Still, it sounds like I wasn't the only one scattered this weekend. Hope everyone had a good holiday.

No worries, it's been a bit slow anyway.

Yeah, I hope that splitting up the company wasn't too bad an idea or isn't too taxing on our DM with multiple paths.
Leliestraat is afraid that he is grounded by the authoritarian wizards at the Acadamae! LOLHe will have to sneak out somehow when he comes out of trance.
Hope the rest are ok, all spoilers. Hope you don't die in the streets at the hands of rioters.
