I totally understand going invite-only, Pat. I had to do that for my game a while back because it was just too much. I'm going to have to open it up again soon at least for a while, but I keep putting it off because it's such a hassle. :P
And that's with just one game to run!*
*Disclaimer: that's one unlimited number of player characters open world/sandbox style game, so it's more like running several games in one so I'm well aware that saying it's 'just one game' is totally misleading. :)

Yeah I tried to play in your Agartha game and I literally couldn't keep track of the different plot lines. Kudos to you!
THIS! Though I've never tried to play in it.
I've bounced around that Thread Iynora, impressive as all hell! Literally the largest game by players, by posts and by ambition!

Thanks. :)
Basically, I'm totally insane at this point from keeping track of all the various major and minor plots. :PAnd the massiveness of it is the main thing I lose new players to. I've gotten a little better at coaching people through the beginning where it's overwhelming and making sure they know that they don't have to follow everything, just their own character's stuff. But it's definitely it's own special kind of crazy. I tried starting another campaign twice, but I just have no headspace left over at this point. I've had to start keeping a little notebook with notes for myself so I don't forget stuff now too. I used to be able to keep it all in my head, but at some point it reached critical mass. :)

Well, you have a standing invite if you ever decide you want to try it out. The first hit's free! ;P

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'll revisit the invite after I get my Ruins of Azlant game up and running, still lots to do to get that massive endeavor off of the ground...

I actually learned most of what I know about PBP GMing from you, Pat. Seriously, thank you for that. It's definitely a very different style from a live game, and observing how you handled the differences really sped up the learning curve a lot for me.
Aww. Thanks. I think we both learned a lot coming out of the old OTD game (which was the ancestor of Agartha iirc), and how to play and interact characters without a lot of rule structure

Oh, definitely. That's why Agartha games have such a sandbox structure, really. But we had to add more structure back in when we started the Avalon game because we were bringing in a lot of new people, and a lot of what I learned from playing in this game influenced that. Credit where credit's due and all that. :)

So, my long-suffering players:
I was a bit over-optomistic about my engaement level when it came to these last few weeks on Cape Cod. Things got so bad I even forgot about the NecroNomicon in Providence this weekend (which I was looking forward too-just got overwhelmed with work and moving)
I am going to try and keep you all updated, BUT
I am travelling into in partibus infidelium soon. Very soon. Like a week.
I had no earthly idea how I could have so much crap.
I am packing solo, and still working a full compliment of days up until I leave.
Please please please pardon me. I beg your indulgence as I try and rip out of my cocoon and take flight. Honsetly I don't know if things will be settled out until October.
I will attempt to keep you posted, but I felt I should give you a heads up anyway.

Ragadolf |

Oh Patrick, the only online friend I know whose schedule is crazier than mine!
(Although I suspect there are many others in our boat!) ;)
No problem here Pat, have 'fun' packing/ moving. ;P
We'll wait! Just be sure to peek in ONCE in a while, just to let us know that your ok!
Best of luck with the new job!
(I need to start looking for one of those too,...) :/

OK. It's been too long since I touched base, and that's my fault, mea culpa.
This has been a rough two weeks. For those of you that have my FB, my pup got very sick. I almost lost him. Combined with the new job and new apartment and setting up an eBay store to sell my collection of books, it's been a rough time
However, I should have some time Monday. I want to keep these games going. I apologize for the delay, it's just been a rough time trying to get square here.
Look for some updates Monday!

Ragadolf |

Hey no worries!
I'm glad you and the Pup are ok.
Sorry to hear you have to sell your collection, (I'm just a trifle over attached to mine. Considering I hardly ever actually TOUCH any of the books on my shelf) ;P
I'm just glad that your OK. Hope the new job is a good one? Good co-workers and such?
We've said it before, and I'll say it again,...
We'll be here when you get back to it! :D

Patrick Curtin |

Lol. Ok. Hard dates aren't working, but I did make progress. I am working towards getting things back on track. I have my computer up and functioning, and that means I have access to my digital files. I won't say tonight, and jinx it, but certainly through to the weekend we should get the ball rolling.

Dungeon Monkey wrote:Oh! No! Not a dig at you Patrick, real life comes first, that was just a comment on how long it's been since we've been able to continue. You've giving us what little time you got and I'd have to be a grade A cad to insult you for that. I didn't even consider that you might read it that way. I'm sorry that you even thought it was a shot at you. Believe me that wasn't intended as anything aimed at you.
Ouch. OK, I deserved that dig
I read that as good natured ribbing and funny too ;-)
No worries Pat, happens to me all the time. I intend to update and before I know it, 7, 10 MORE days pass by. This will always be less important then everything else going on in your life.

Storyteller Shadow |

My guilt made it seem more barbed than it was.
Well you can make it up to me and alleviate your guilt by sending me some of that pesky gaming material that's cluttering up your place. :-)

Ragadolf |

Thank YOU for the fun games! :)
I promise to (try) and return the favor by getting back to the journal and hopefully entertaining you in return!
Really.
Very soon now.
;P
(Pesky RL and stupid collapsing fly lines with heavy-@$$ ceiling sections on them!)
Meh, if it's not an annoying teacher, it's a structural calamity. All in a days work for your friendly neighborhood Theater Tech Director. :/

Waves at Jess
Everyone, I do apologize for not posting up this latest battle. The iPhone issue is a bit knotty, but anyway, some big news:
Since our tank has departed, I have found two replacements. Jess above is going to try a paladin (the is Planescape so alignment is more fungible). David Mallon is going to try his hand at an undead character. I am going to update today and try to get things set and introduce them.

Patrick Curtin |

I will be very happy to have my computer rehooked to the Interwebz. Smartphones are good for idle posting, but not so great for tracking games.
We are almost done with this chapter, which I'm sure comes as a relief to
Most. I'm sure you will be glad to be elsewhere soon.

Patrick Curtin |

Uhm.....Undead slayer here.....but I guess I haven't really been all that present.
Do you have to kill every undead you see? You'd have a hard time walking in Sigil. Undead have full rights there. That's the magic of Planescape.
Now, you can have an antagonistic relationship with the new undead character, but you don't have to throw down. Think of it as a role playing opportunity. Kind of like how Buffy didn't always slay vampires. Sometimes she dated them, lol

Hamar of the Hyena Tribe |

Been crazy just when the game heats up again!
Yes, Hamar will be glad to be out of here!
I'll update IC tomorrow.
